Pokémon GO Fest, Solstice Event and Gym Rework!

To celebrate the game’s one year anniversary as well as 750 million global downloads, real-world events will be taking place throughout the summer and into September. The biggest of these will be the Pokémon GO Fest scheduled to be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 22. Ticket prices have not yet been announced. European players can expect special GO events held in Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers.

Furthermore, beginning on June 13 players can participate in the Solstice Event in Pokémon GO (iOS/Android) which will increase the rates of Fire and Ice-type Pokémon, offer bonus XP for Pokéball throws and also feature a Lucky Egg discount. The event will run only until June 20 though, so watch your calendars carefully!

In addition, Niantic has posted some cryptic words hinting at the long-rumored “gym rework” which will improve the system in which players capture and control Pokémon Gyms, “Soon thereafter, you can look forward to a new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokémon GO in fun new ways. In preparation for these exciting features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms for a short period of time.” We’ll have to wait and see what these new updates bring!

  4. So we are talking about the past I see? Back when I used to be a little Wurmple in XY days were awesome. Though I was as spammy and cringy as Seraph And StarStorm (I kid…).
    I miss XY days. I wish I didnt spend so much time shiny hunting and actually battled. If only I knew how dry this place would get in the battling scene.
    You guys reliving the past makes me feel old…

  12. Wanted to join in on the trip to memory lane, hope no one minds. Joining PJN was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and taking that leap of faith its gotten me far tbh so I can never regret it for a lot of reasons this place brings a lot of good memories, I met the people closest to me on here including a very special person and I’ve met so many other amazing people as well and to this day even seeing some newer faces is wonderful, all of you really brighten up the place and make it special.

    As much as I want to see these leaks Im going to wait to play the games so after I see pokemon Origin tomorrow I’m banning myself from pokemon websites I just feel guilty since Masuda and them are really excited about this and I want to be surprised for these games when I play

      • Yo Hipster! its great seeing you again 😀 I missed ya as well! um its possible I don’t remember but I do remember going on quite the spree in giving away shinies in my early days that I found xD and I think I gave away a Pikachu or 2 from the FS. But its awesome that you still have it 🙂 yes we do, and yep will have to double check but we might have eachother on there

    Like I said awhile ago, my first comment included a Wynaut reference and it was basically me being excited to join a community I’ve been following for a bit when XY was announced (it was around the time of a convention where the demo was being played I think).
    I’m glad I still am a part of this little family (even if I become absent for so long after game releases).
    I’m about to graduate soon, and when I do, I dunno how much time I’ll spend here, so I just want you all to know that you are all amazing people and I’ll be in spirit with you guys (And I’ll still be playing Pokemon cause I’m a dork like that)
    And I didn’t want to go find my first comment cause I am extremely lazy so 😛

  18. um since everyone is doing these sappy posts….. um hi, i joined the website as “natulover” and my first comment ever was something about winning accidentally a porygon? back when porygon wasn’t in xy. and like… no one knew me and they were like “who is this guy????”
    afterwards i started spamming a lot about shipping stuff and random gifs cause i thought i was being funny when i wasn’t actually asdfdfhdjs
    in 2014 i met two amazing people : percy the lame espeon (hi jamie i hate you <333) and ubermawile who sadly i don't really talk to anymore :C

  22. So like I’ve been on since what? Last August-September? Don’t think it’s been a whole year, but like all you guys have been so good to me and shit and I feel like I’ve been hear forever?

    The mods are all like super chill and stuff but do what they need to do, most of you are like super welcoming to newcomers and stuff and made me feel welcome so quick, you all have our unique personalities and stuff and best of all you put up with my bullshit <3

    I know there's been beef and drama, between me and earthen and then three trolls/overly dramatic people but like I still love you all and shit
