Magikarp Jump, a free-to-pay iOS and Android game, has been updated to version 1.1.0. This brings many new features to the game:

    • The leagues are poorly laid out to me the range of jumping skills is too weird
      Like one will have 29 then the next one jumps all the way 67 making it hard for a new karp to keep up

    • the way they have the new direct format set up that may be all they need for now. I don’t particularly like the new direct style, but it certainly allows them to rapid fire topics. Either way I don’t think 25 mins is something to worry about. For all we know it just means they’ll cut the fat and won’t do any dumb skits. The skit account for huge parts of the directs.

      • The skits were fun, but those need to go in this short amount of time, I agree. Also cut the developer interviews, we don’t need them talking for 8 minutes about yarn again. Either way, I’m worried. The way I see it, subtract 5 minutes for a focus on Odyssey, subtract 6 minutes for Xenoblade 2 and FE Warriors trailers, 2 minutes for any last minute ARMS and Splatoon 2 stuff, 4 minutes for the Mario+Rabbids reveal, and that only leaves 8 minutes for any 3rd party stuff, indies, or any suprises. And that seems like the maximum to me. This isn’t gonna be like that direct, there should be actual trailers in this direct, and that takes more time than just showing some gameplay and talking over it for 30 seconds.

  16. Ugh, I’m scrolling through reddit and constantly being reminded of what a horrible job GF did with the reveal of USUM. People keep calling it a simple re-release with minimal changes, and they don’t even know what it is. They games could suck, or they could be great, but GF surely didn’t point us in the right direction with the reveal.

      • While that’s true, I’m not going to say I’m thrilled just yet about USUM. They need to prove to me a) what is actually is, and b) that it’s going to have enough content. I’m gonna buy it either way, but I just want them to actually care about the extras for once

    • While the reveal wasn’t good, the thing is that we do know a little at this point, being that it is an enhanced version of Sun and moon, like Emerald and Platinum were, which is why people are very sour with it. There’s a very good reason why haven’t been calling foul when GF wasn’t releasing third versions and why it didn’t seem appealing to them. Namely the issue being that if most of the features of the game are going to be in the post game; why can’t they be DLC? Like really. Just charge$20 for it and people will be happy enough. As far as people see it now its having to pay $40 for a potential post game since that’s the only thing that this game has to appeal to people who bought the first games.

      • That’s not necessarily the case though. They said it was an “alternate reality” of SM. Even though that’s technically what Emerald and Platinum were, I’m leaning towards it being something completely different. The wording makes me think it’ll be more different than 3rd versions were.

        And that just proves my point. The reveal was way too ambiguous on the fundamentals of the actual game.

      Maybe custom final smashes? Like Mega Mewtwo X/Mega Charizard Y for those two, Catastropika for Pikachu, different Infernal Demons like Madama Butterfly and Baal for Bayonetta, etc

  25. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I would rather have Smash 5 than a Smash 4 port. Don’t get me wrong, Smash 4 was amazing, and it still is, but a new game would have me way more hyped than another advanced port.

    • Because they wanted to reduce clones in game, but since Lucina (and Doc) were decided at the last minute they added them with minor changes (Wolf is pretty different ). They added Roy back due to high demand. Wolf didnt get really high demand until the ballot

    He could be perfect he’s already in a fighting game, All his games are on Nintendo funded systems, He’s popular enough in Japan and America (sort of) to get into the game, He has enough variety in moves to be easy to make, his coding and sprite are already similar enough to that of Smash so unlike some others he wouldn’t take much effort, He is the main mascot of his title and has the potential to put up a good fight in a Smash game!

    So over any other character I hope Jibanyan gets into the SSB DX or SSB 5

  39. Imagine how much better the Alola Starters would’ve been with good hidden abilities

    Intimidate Incineroar could’ve actually been decent in comp (like RU-UU) with more defenses or speed

    Deci would actually have an ability outside of fighting Ferrothorn

    Prim Hyper Voice wouldn’t be Sparkling Aria v2

          • Tbf AZ’s Floette was just one Pokémon and its signature move and not 1600+ unique animations

            But at the same time the fact it’s still in the code of games after XY is dumb and they should just release it

          • Adding one Pokemon model compared to making an entire catalog of Pokemon models that have specific movements isn’t really comparable. for all we know they made AZ’s Floette just in case there was an event. Making the Walking models takes considerably more time and thought

    • I do wonder what these will ultimately be for. Hopefully they’ll walk with your trainer in general, but who knows. I will say tha SM had an absorbent amount of people commenting on your first slot Pokemon. More than they have in other games. Not since HGSS have we had THAT much attention to the first Pokemon in your party. If we weren’t getting walking Pokemon then why wouldn’t they just say generic things like “Your Pokemon are looking in top form!” or something like that. Instead they specifically state the name of your first mon. Seems suspect lol

      • Well since it’s off the grid format, they can now change the town lay outs. So now they can add in more features to the towns including boutiques. Plus Heartome City DESERVES a boutique. And I think that they are going to learn from a lot of ORAS’s criticism.

        • If they really wanted to put boutiques in they literally could’ve bundled some Pokémon Centres and Shops and inserted it there, or even just put the boutiques there

  53. Really curious what kind of role Lycanroc has in USUM’s story. We know that GF were/áre planning a 3rd & 4th form based on coding find on the PGL website. There’s also a cutscene with Lycanroc in the trailer, maybe its something to do with the legendaries? Can’t wait!

  74. Hmm, not something that most of us our into, but one game that’s been reveled to be shown off more is the new dissida final fantasy game, coming early 2018. It looks pretty good. Noctis has also been confirmed to be joining the console roster, among others. Only other thing to add as I kinda love Tidus being called the nameless dreamer, given FF 10’s story, even if its a huge spoiler.

      • Its a very fun fighting game and its pretty flashy. I’m kinda mixed on their stories, but at the end of the day its seeing every mail villain and hero interacting with one another playing off each other. You get to see Kefka doing his best joker impressing to the annoyance of Kuja and Garland, or seeing cloud, Squall and Lightning compete with one another to see who has less of a personality. Really the only odd thing in it is that their still going with Y’shtola as the FF14 rep, given what’s likely going to happen to her soon. But this game has been out in Japanese arcades for a year and a half and it is her old design, do i’m not complaining.

  75. Ugh!!! I’m at what I assume is the second to last boss in the first dungeon of P5 (at least I think I am), but it keeps using this area attack that kills everyone in my party. I’ve gotten SUPER close to beating it, but then it all of sudden uses that move…….I have 8 days left to beat the dungeon, but I really wanna try and beat it on the current run that I’m doing…..*sigh* lol

    • hmm. Don’t know for certain which boss it would be. I’d either guess it would be Archangel(pretty clearly an angel) or the Mara Slime which looks very phallic. In any case doing it all in one day is very hard. I wasn’t able to do it myself, but it can be done. If you know that the attack is coming, or the game gives any sort of tell, try guarding since it reduces damage a lot from incoming attacks and is how your suppose to survive attacks like that.

      • It’s the angel. I can’t say I’ve done it all in one day, but now that I’ve gotten to this point I was hoping I wouldn’t have to waste anymore in game days to do it. I’ve got like 7-8 days left and I’d rather not use anymore days lol

        • Yeah he’s a hard fight, but he is beatable. Really the most I could say is if he consistently has an attack that’s instantly killing you, look to see if it has some sort of tell, like is he charging up for an attack and then guard. He’s beatable, and after him is the Mara slime which I don’t remember being hard. Also as a reminder you must have two days remaining to finish any dungeon, so take the time you need. The castle’s one of the hardest parts of the game simply due to how hard it can be early on, but for the most part things get easier.

  76. I had a little moment with the enemy Tracer. I was also playing Tracer and I was about to kill her. She was at one more hit left until she started dancing. I sat there for a second until I started to dance too. We capped the point and my team crowded around us. They watched as we danced the conflict away. Until Lucio killed her. Fuck you, Lucio.

    • But it I did something I will regret forever. I met her again in a small room. She said “Hi” I greeted her back. Then I did the unthinkable. I shot her in the head and killed her. After realizing what I had done,, I crouched down and shot the floor as it was the only thing I could do to apologize to my lost friend.

    -Game has been in development since before Unity was released (so prior to 2014)
    -New A.I. and combat system
    -Minimap is replaced by a compass on the top of the GUI (like Elder Scrolls)
    -Setting is 49BCE Egypt, so the Cleopatra era
    -NPCs have a day/night cycle, kinda like BotW
    -PC has a pet Eagle that constantly travels with him on his shoulder
    -Level system introduced, level cap is 40
    -No longer possible to one-hit kill brutes & other strong enemies with the Hidden Blade
    -2 playable characters, one is called Bayek, the other is still a secret but rumored to be female
    -There are mini-games, one of which are gladiator battles in arenas

    • Which boss is it? a lot of them have mechanics like that. your suppose to guard through them, though most have a tell to warn you to guard.

        And yeah i guarded when she used desperation but still killed everyone except ryuji.
        The second time i tried to kill her but she survived with a silver of hp and killed everyone

        • Hmm…Sixth is the casino right? If so yeah that one’s pretty much a rush at the end. You just have to take her down before the attack hits, otherwise you lose. Its hard, but its meant to be hard. If your their your nearing the end of the game.

          • What i did was i just used everyone’s strongest move.
            I guess it’s better if i try to raise my attack first

          • Yeah. I don’t remember what level I was at, but I pretty much spammed everything I could to have a better chance at beating it. Its do or die with that fight. If its any consolation, I’d argue that it is the hardest boss in the game, so nothing should put you through as much hell as that one. Though I’ll fully admit that I was pretty much brokenly overpowered shortly after that fight. I think right before I finished that dungeon I finished the strength confidant, and the final persona you have to make for it is fairly good in the fight, as is the reward which helps out a lot. All the more so if you complete the Moon.

          • I haven’t been paying any attention too the strength confidant at all, guess I should since i think it doesn’t take away any time. I’m using Rangda right now which is pretty useful since it repels physical.

          • Yeah. The final reward is that you can just pay money to fuse personas that are above your level. So it might be for like a 150k you could fuse a persona that’s 10 levels above you. its how your suppose to get the super powerful personas like Satan and Lucifer.

    What better driving force to compel an adventurer to go seek out riches and treasure to satisfy their magical talking stronghold?
    I mean unless you got an ample supply of mercenary quests to fill up your time or a life or death goal to fuel your wander lust things would get boring fast
    So one what about a rumored booby-trapped fortress filled with valuables, so this would definitely attract looters and thieves
    but what you didn’t know the fortress is ALIVE!!!!!
    So after surviving just by the skin of your ass you find that it’s totally alive and even worse no treasure……but Treasure is its lifeblood and you strike a partnership, we live here in exchange for loot

  94. I just saw Wonderwoman

    HOLY FUCK IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD

    The color pallete was bright and not dreary and dull like every other super hero movie. The two leads were great, the action was good. Like… the only parts i dont like are the beginning and the ending.

    It’s too bad Zack Snyder is making Justice League so Wonderwoman is probably going to be fucked up in that movie but this film on its own is one of the best in the genre. The beginning is really slow and filled with exposition that isnt needed. It could’ve been delivered in a better way. Like theres this scene where Diana and the guy are talking and she brings Zeus. But we knew that already so why not just tell us in this scene rather than repeat yourself in the other scene all clumsily? But its fine. Once you get to the first action scene it’s fucking awesome.

    Is it flawed? Yes. Is it good enough to overshadow those flaws? For the most part… yes. For sure a 9 or 8 out of 10. I loved it. Thats what happens when you have a talented woman directing a movie about a character that represents the struggles and progress of women.

    Ok so like… she kills the guy thinking he was Aries until she realizes the war is still going. So its like… killing one guy won’t stop the war which is fuckin amazing for a message in a super hero movie. There isnt one villain, humans just suck and do shitty things. But then Aries is alive and he made everyone evil and it fucks up the message. Because now it isnt that humans made their own decisions, this asshole influenced them. So… humans aren’t evil? They just got influenced by this guy? But what about the Joker and all the villains? They are shitty? See having him just screws up the message.

    OTHER THAN THAT HOLY SHIT THE SCENE WHERE THEYRE AT THE BATTLE FIELD AND SHE JUST CLIMBS OUT OF THE TRENCH AND DEFLECTS EVERYTHING AND JUST WALKS RIGHT IN THERE SO THEY CAN ATTACK IS AWESOME. THEN SHE GOES TO THE PLACE AND STARTS KICKING ASS AND THE MUSIC PLAYS LIKE BAH NA NA NA NA NA NA BA NAAAAAA NA NA NA AND SHES SHOWING EVERYONE WHO THE QUEEN IS AND I LOVE IT.

        • The war only really ended because there was already an armistice that was being put in place, which only one guy (who Diana ended up killing, can’t remember his name) was going to interrupt. I think the whole kinda point was to show that whilst humans can be shitty and cause wars and stuff, we can also acknowledge when to stop and try for peace.

          Also considering what happens 21years later without Ares I don’t think the message is lost at all :v

            because they’re literally the same thing the only difference is having Stealth Rock
            i mean what could u possibly have on those two Swines that isn’t identical

            Porygon2 and Z are annoying on their own but together it pisses me so freaking much

          • They are still technically different pokemon therefore you can do it. Plus they can be run differently too. Pilo is more Bulky while mamo is more powerful.
            Shouldnt annoy you like that its literally double the weakness which is better for you. But whatever, your anger and disappointment, not mine.

            i mean you’re running Thick Fat on both of them aside from setting up Stealth rocks what else does it do that its evolved form does

  97. With the recent Pokemon announcements of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, I still desire to see Pokemon on the Nintendo Switch. As others have pointed out, the lack of a Switch title might be due to Nintendo’s current stock issues and potential holiday competition with Super Mario Odyssey (which would make the Switch almost impossible to find). So, I wanted to outline potential ways Nintendo, the Pokemon Company, and GameFreak could introduce Pokemon on the Switch.

    1. Pokemon Sun + Ultra Sun & Pokemon Moon + Ultra Moon; This is a dual pack release of Pokemon S/US & M/UM on the Nintendo Switch. This would allow for both titles to be updated with HD textures, have better performance, higher frame rate, and stability fixes. This is largely continuing the Pokemon Stars rumour, which was released in November 2016. This is around the time we heard about the newest Mario game arriving on the Switch at launch. This was obviously wrong, but the leakers were still correct. On a slight tangent, Super Mario Odyssey is actual complete with development, yet Nintendo chose to withhold the title for a massive holiday release. Ultimately, I feel like a proper Pokemon Switch title would release Fall of 2018, when the Switch has a stronger user base. Additionally, a dual pack release would be cheaper than buying each game at retail price on the 3DS. It’s just a prediction, yet it’s a strong possibility to lengthen Generation 7 passed 2018, then having Generation 8 start in 2019.

    2. Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Remakes; This would be a rather bold move by GameFreak to introduce new titles on new hardware with a remake of a previous title. I do feel that D/P remakes will arrive in Generation 8, instead of leaping onto new hardware. Still, it’s a possibility with the recent Pokemon movie containing Sinnoh Pokemon. Yet, I do feel that it’s the weakest thought of mine, as it solely caused by my love of Sinnoh (second favorite region).

    3. Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Remakes; Rather similar to my thoughts on D/P remakes, it would be an unexpected move. I would love to revisit Kanto with maybe the ability to go an earlier Johto region. Image Red meeting a young Ethan before three years pass. Combining Kanto + Johto + Sevii Islands would make a big Pokemon game on the Switch.

    4. Generation 8 Pokemon titles; This is the most likely option to bring Pokemon onto the Switch. An entirely new generation to illustrate how GameFreak uses the new hardware. This would mean that Generation 7 would have about the same length as Generation 5 & 6. Still, I feel like this makes the most sense concerning GameFreak’s involvement with the Switch and hiring of staff. Maybe a Pokemon game set in Greece or Australia? That would be pretty neat!

    Overall, this is just some speculation I had when thinking deeply about US/UM. Obviously, any of these could happened on the 3DS or not happened at all. So, I hope to generate some discussion concerning some new titles on the Nintendo Switch.

  106. Good morning folks. So a bit off topic, but my guild wants to get into a bit of more hardcore raiding with my upcoming expansion in my MMO of choice, so I’ve started to test out recording.           • Yeah. I was actually going to post about an hour long video of the Beast tribe alliance quest, which towards its end involves super sentai teams and pyrotechnics and evil scientists trying to make a zombie army, but the audio didn’t record, so I ended up deleting the footage. Shadowplay works well from what I”ve scene and can also record mic audio, so I”ll have to test if it can pick up discord/teamspeak as well.

          • Well the obvious guess would be re-hashing the undead legion and the lich king again in some way, because Blizz ran out of ideas for WoW a long time ago. That, and honestly at this point their probably just letting WoW go on until it completely dries up and dies, or they decide to make a new MMO without such tight lore restrictions as Warcraft.

    • For me, the video quality is good but the audio is a somewhat too low.

      Also, if the game comes to switch, I’d try it because I’m not interested on the PS4 system…

      • I’ll work on it. I might just have to raise the master volume.

        Its hard to say if its coming to the Switch(not likely since it has cross play and the switch isn’t the most powerful console out there), but maybe. Just to say though it is on PC(best way to play it) and its requirements aren’t that bad. Like most mid-range pc’s could handle it well.

        And yes. Yes it is. The fight is Zurvan of the warring triad(that tower thing that you fight before Kefka during the final boss fight). He was the final phase of the tower. I just used it as a test to see how the footage looked since theirs a lot of movement in the fight and its not super hard. Really the only sad thing about the warring triad fight is that there’s no Kefka in the game. There is a guy seeking to use their power, but its more so a means to and end with him, and he ends up dying when releasing Zurvan protecting what he considers to be something even more powerful and valuable to his empire then the giant birthday cake devil.

    When a Clockpass trusts its trainer it unleashes its Spacetime-controlling powers. Ecitasmeip are called “The Children of Dialga and Palkia”. When they’re dying they teleport to the beggining of everything and are born again.
    Signature Ability
    Continuum Control
    Teleport doesn’t work when you’re battling this pokemon and if a move has 0 PP there are 1 in 5 chances of it regaining them to the amount there was at the begining of the battle.

    • Drop that Shiinotic. Docile nature is not good.
      Find a nature that improves its best stat, and lowers the stat you dont need.
      So If I were you, I would get a Bold one. EV train it in MAx HP and Def.
      Put this thing on a rain team where it can benefit from rain dish and the negating fire weakness.
      Lastly, Give it Spore/ Strength Sap/ MoonBlast/Leech Seed

          we can say and theorize that Necrozma is in fact a alt-extraterrestrial pokemon that either crash landed from Ultra Space or it was born in the real world after some dimensional hiccup

          i theorize that the Necrozma we know might be actually a juvenile i mean all it does is feed and instinctively fight anything it gets near it

          or that it’s just a extremely dangerous pokemon, who knows we just need more information

      • Moonstone uses a staff and lulled the other two to help with the rebellion as they are now fugitives for loving to fuse with her. Her gem is in the same place as Amethyst’s (Under White Diamond)

        Citrine uses claws they she calls from the gem over where a heart would be and escaped Home world with her friends to escape being shattered (Under Yellow Diamond)

        And Onyx the most useful as she was of PD’s army and saw that Rose never really shattered her, but due to my theory she and others left took the fragments left of her gem to a healing spring that could heal even shattered gems (made by the Rose Quartzs in Secret for PD) so in centuries to come she would be reborn after the healing was done, yet was given to YD and met Citrine in the ranks of their then escaped with the others due to the there’s love of Fusion her gems shares its position with Stevens

          • I don’t really know if I’d like the feel of that, but yeah it is an option. I’d need a touchscreen with a stylus because fingerprints on a screen are really irritating to me. I generally like the feeling of books (like the weight, turning the page etc, probably weird I know) the smell and the look, it’s just that I can’t clean them in the way my stupid mind feels the obsessive need to. I’m thinking about maybe a reading tray and gloves, it’s probably the best solution I can think of. Oh and a series I really want to read are The Lord of The Rings books as I love the films.

          • Tbf, it is a valid response, so I honestly don’t blame you for feeling that way.
            How I counteract that impulse is that they are humans, people like me, that have their brain wired differently or went through some stuff that changed them and it normally goes away.
            I think, so long as you don’t think too negatively about them or treat them as subhuman, you are a fine person.

          • If you feel you can’t deal with it then you don’t have to. It can be hard sometimes depending on the difficulties they have.

          • I work with quite a number of mentally challenged people, and it can be taxing at times, especially because I have social anxiety and I don’t want to be talked to for hours on end (a lot of them have aspergers too, so they don’t quite understand). And a lot of them ask me to hang out, and I feel really bad cause I avoid that. Maybe I’m shallow, but honestly I like being alone and I have to force myself to make time for my actual friends.

          • Yeah, I have around 4 groups of friends, with some singular friends mixed in there so I don’t quite want to partition my free time more than that

          • I know certain asperger’s also have a good amount of social anxiety themselves, and maybe they feel a sort of kinship with you.
            But you’re not in the wrong, it’s a valid feeling to have (I have social anxiety myself too, so in general, I just like being by myself)

          • Yeah, I’m sure that’s it. I’m always nice and stuff, I don’t want people to dislike me. Okay, although there is this new kid there who is challenged, and he’s pushing all my fucking buttons. Like he was trying to get me to drive him to gamestop (and I was like ??? I just met you) and he talks so much. And he’ll follow people around when he shouldn’t be. And then the other day he like touched my freakin tit as a joke and it made me really uncomfortable. I don’t like people touching me, not even my friends and family. Like if I offer to give you a hug, I’m really pushing against everything inside me. But I just try to keep conversation short with him because I don’t have the temperament for him

          • Oh, I totally relate to being nice and not wanting people to dislike me. It gets so bad that even if that person doesn’t deserve it, I’ll still do things for them because I don’t want to cause trouble or drama.
            And hopefully things get better with that new kid. I know these behaviors can be hard to stop or even change, so even with counseling, it might still be there to an extent.

            But at the same time, I know my personal space and other people’s, and when people can’t respect that I get kinda annoyed, even if they can’t help it :s

I’ve had a friend who had a whole load of conditions (ADHD, Autism, and a few other I think) and I felt bad but he was like draining because he talked about the same stuff a lot and he didn’t realise when stuff he did was going to have people make fun of him and stuff. He also had a crush on me and a friend, and I don’t think he realised how obvious it was. There’s plenty of autistic, ADHD, etc people who aren’t like this, but I can defo relate to what you’re saying

          • Omfg yes, a few summers ago i had went to this employment training facility “Skills Unlimited” which i got in for free since legeally i qualified

            But it was just a gigantic wearhouse filled with them and they were unbearable (also this place was atrocious basically grooming them for lives as gruntworkers, hell some sassy women said that they aren’t the employment fairies despite their job is to find work)
            and i felt like the most intelligent guy there, dear god the things i saw in the restrooms………

            but luckily i managed to escape life as a janitor after lying that i cannot be around cleaning stuff, so i got a cushy position of being trained with online word documents (they said i was qualified to teach the class)

            the entire thing was a painful awkward excruciating ordeal, but i learned one valuable piece of information from a women working on the floor mail room
            “you’re [i’m] not here to make friends, i’m here to make money”

          • I mean not to sound mean, but ‘gruntwork’ is the best that some of these people can do, either because their attitude or mind just can’t handle anything else.

            And no, they aren’t employment fairies. They’re trying to get people realistic jobs for them, because reality sucks for a lot of disabled people. Good for you if you’re ‘better than that’ Earthen but a lot of these people can only handle lower work.

          • Well if you obsess over something to the point you can’t think about anything else until you’ve dealt with it then yeah, I think that’s the broadest description. I am usually watching TV, on my laptop and playing a game at the same time, mostly to block out other thoughts. Does kind of ruin full concentration for each though.

          • I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really enjoy the LotR books at all. As far as High Fantasy goes, JRR Tolkein does not know how to focus a story, in my honest opinion. He’s a great lore and world builder, but his writing is weak. That said, The Hobbit is one of my favorite books (the movies are some of the worst I’ve ever seen though), it’s so different than the LotR series, which I powered through and have no intention of ever reading again. So definitely read at least that one.

          • Oh yeah, for sure. The movies are amazing. It’s one of those rare cases where I prefer the movies over the books (although there is one scene they really shouldn’t have cut out of the third movie, but all well I guess)

          • Yeah they are some of my favourite movies. Sometimes books and movies of them can be on a similar level for me, like in Harry Potter I can find things I love about both enough that they are both just as good in their own way. If that even makes sense.

          • I have an intense love/hate relationship with the HP movies lol. My favorite is CoS though, because I think it captures everything completely necessary about the book that some of the other movies couldn’t quite do

          • Yeah, I feel it is the best one, along with 3 because I just really love David Thewlis as Lupin. In some ways the movies have enhanced the books for me, like Hagrid, I had a really weird view of what he was supposed to look like when I first read the books (starting from the 3rd didn’t help), but then I saw him in the movies and now I don’t see how I ever imagined him any other way. Of course there’s stuff I dislike about the movies, omissions are often hard when you really enjoyed that part of the book, but they are usually necessary for time or narrative flow in the movie.

            My parents are right now on a trip out in Oregon and they came across this huge used and new bookstore, and I so wished I was out there with them to see it.
            At least they got me some books (it’s actually a series I read a long time ago but could never find anywhere nearby called The Chanters of Tremaris series also a good series that I recommend)

          • Can you buy them online? I know alot of book stores here are online too now. I do like actually going in to a book shop and looking around though. Same with buying anything really, I like to look it over to better ascertain quality and what exactly it is I am getting.

      I also like some more teen romance series, like Hush, Hush series and the Kendra Chronicles. They have interesting concepts, especially the Kendra Chronicles being about modern fairytales, so they became fun reads for me.
      Most of the time, however, I stick with one off novels or start a series but never finish it because I like other things

      • Re-reading Harry Potter just feels so good, noticing things you might have accidentally skipped over or not fully understood at the time, revisiting the characters and the places is just really enjoyable for me. The films have influenced the way I see some of it too, like Hagrids’ appearance and voice, Snapes’ mannerisms, stuff like that that serve to enhance what I had previously imagined as I read.

        • Well for me, the last time I read them was actually when my Dad read the books out loud to me and my siblings before bed, so I barely remember them because I was half paying attention myself. (Except for the last book as that was one we all read out loud in a play sort of thing).
          What inspired me to go back and actually really read them was the Youtube series that covers movies based on a book and see how good of an adaptation it is (I really recommend it, his channel is called The Dom) and he’s a big HP fan so he covered the movies and kept saying that the adaptation of them weren’t the best and actually decreased through the series in how faithful it was. I was honestly shocked myself cause I thought they were good adaptations based on what I remember, so I wanted to see for myself.
          I fins myself agreeing with him that they don’t cover all that much especially the more I go along in the series.

          • Yeah it can be hard transitioning from book to film, especially the more the books start to contain that the movie just doesn’t have the time for or just doesn’t adhere well to general pacing. I like them as separate things, like 2 different versions of the same story. Books are obviously going to be able to contain much more detail as they have no real time limits. I considered buying the audio versions but my worry is (apart from how hideously expensive they are) that I won’t enjoy them as much in that format, where there is probably everything from the book but I can’t control the pace at which I consume it. At least with the films much of it is able to be seen so alot of the descriptive text is there for you to see.

          • That’s not an official term at all, it’s pretty much just a preview (‘prevo’) of out timetables before summer because you’re not expected to immediately like all your classes. I changed psychology to chemistry because I didn’t like psych, and I did it just in time thanks to those weeks. Good thing too, I need Chem as a qualification

          • It’s not intended actually, it’s just because exams are placed like up to eight weeks before the school year officially ends so a year out exams we’d have nothing else to do except our next classes

          • Also some exams are placed even earlier, my cooking exam was in March and our Summer Holidays start late June :0

          • Lol in the year I am the exams are actually placed higher so the people in my year ends the year earlier (for the rest it ends in the 23rd)

          • The three years that get exams typically have their different levels of exam (National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher) days close to each other so we all finish school around the same time :0

            just that its a strange metallic pokemon that hold an abundance of strange energies inside it
            allowing it to naturally use so many attacks, but oddly they just naturally have a courageous and protective behavior

            originally it was gonna be a Titan made from mythical metals like mithril and adamantium but i don’t think they’re public domain so i switched it to a superhero theme

          • Yeah it’s a pain, but if it’s causing you that much trouble maybe it’s worth a try. Isn’t Ribombee 4x effective against Malamar anyway or don’t they run Bug Buzz? I think Scrafty gets Fire Punch and Head Smash if those help at all.

            Head Smash and or Iron Head is good for Rimbombee but sometimes a stray flying type might cause trouble
            But I’m also debating Dragon Dance or Bulk Up either one of these can cause trouble
            I need to experiment

            I really wish I could give Golbat something other than Super Fang one of these days it will bite me in the balls that I don’t have a proper attack

            But I think Scrafty will work well and I hope Shed Skin helps me out of bad situations

          • Head Smash has the recoil issue but Iron Head is weaker, it can cause flinch though. Dragon Dance is good if you want the speed, Bulk Up if you are trying for a more defensive set. Intimidate is also usable but yeah I’d stick with Shed Skin.
            I’m guessing Golbat is because of the tier not allowing Crobat? What else does it have?

            Its sole purpose is to get rid of entry hazards and undo potential sweeps with haze and grant a boost of speed with tailwind

            Super Fang is nice just so I can crack them in half for the rest, as much as I want to change it all these moves helped me survive and triumph

          • What Item, Eviolite? The main issue is if you are stuck with only Golbat left. Well that and the 90 accuracy.

  178. It’s officially E3 time! I don’t know why I waste my time watching the EA conference every year because it’s always bloated with sports games that I don’t care about. Need for Speed Payback, A Way Out, and Anthem were all relevant and exciting to me, though (and I think I’ll actually get Battlefront 2, considering the improvements). Now we have Microsoft today and a new console reveal! I’m expecting a lot from them, since they sort of have to save themselves at this point. It’s going to be a blast.

          • I think that VPC is too early to be considered a Victory Road, is like calling Mount Coronet Victory Road if the current victory road was lame

          • The difference is tho Alola has a completely different structure and VPC has a large amount of trainers

            Mt Coronet only had galactic grunts

            And actually, VPC does come right before the league: you literally complete the story and then Nanu takes you from there to Mt. Lanakila. I wouldn’t say it’s too early at all.

          • There was a forest area and a canyon area in B2W2 which I found better than just staying in and around a cave imo

            And XY was a nice variety for me because you were constantly going in and out the mountain

    • 3. Gardevoir – The best psychic type. It’s mega evolution gets a really pretty Ball gown that turns black when it’s shiny and that’s really cool. Honestly my third favorite Pokémon changes around a lot I also like Absol and Furret
      2. Primarina- It has a super rad typing. It’s a mermaid and that’s super rad. Also it fights people by singing which is just cool. Also it’s adoooorrrableeee
      1. Lopunny – It’s an adorable little fluffy bunny. Like it’s so cute. But once it mega evolves it becames an OU goddess that Returns her enemies back to hell. Scrappy is an awesome ability. As soon as I used Lopunny in ORAS I loved it.

    • Arbok it was my first pokemon card I ever had and I just love the design which always struck me as a bit regal especially it’s shiny form. Umbreon would be my second favorite. I feel that it has a dark yet elegantly cool design that is only improved by it’s shiny form. My third favorite would have to be Tynamo! Theirs something about that little eel I find especially endearing and it’s evolution’ s are also really cool.

      Incineroar-It’s a great starter, has an epic Z-move, and it’s the evo of a great cat pokemon (cats are my fav animal, I named my cat after Litten)
      Alolan Raichu-Is cute in a great way, its pancake-like colour scheme is a thing I love and the blue eyes. The idea is great and its typing is so cool!
      Oranguru-Orangutans are my 2nd fav animals and oranguru’s design is very cool. The typing is great and its concept is amazing.

      It’s a Poison-type, so of course I love it. It’s also the first UB in number and reveals, and serves as a great design for an extradimensional Pokémon – it does look like a Pokémon, but truly pushes the bounds of what a Pokémon can be. It’s the first Pokémon revealed that didn’t have a face, something only held by itself, Xurkitree, and Dhelmise. It also has a unique type that ties into its concept. A living mass of malleable glass, neurotoxins. As a Poison fan, I’m head over heels with Nihilego and I can see where Lusamine was coming from!

      2) Florges

      Florges is a feminine nymph-like creature, and because of this it’s a more subtle yet obvious take on a Fairy – type. What’s interesting is how they took the lore of the nymph, who lived within a certain piece of nature. Instead, Florges is in a symbiotic relationship with the flowers on its body, as seen by its lack of a Grass type and its hidden ability, Symbiosis. I’m again biased because I’m a huge Fairy fan, but its elegant, refreshing design exudes a regal aura, as if she were a fairy queen, and the simple but effective gimmick of several colours is really cool too. White Florges is beautiful, and I have fond memories of my Florges in my first ever X game.

      1) (Kantonian) Raichu

      I’m a basic bitch. I like Pichu. I love Pikachu. But I absolutely adore Raichu in both forms. But Kanto Raichu edges AloRaichu out because nostalgia. Electric used to be my favourite type, and as such I’d always try to nab a Raichu on my team. I’ve used one on a lot of runs, and was my first level 100 in Diamond. It’s this nostalgia that puts him in the number one spot, and I hope that Kanto Raichu gets a Z-Move, Mega, or anything: as the mascot’s original evolution, it something! Cute, powerful and sentimental, this little rat has my heart.

      Emboar, Emboar is just the perfect starter for me, in the day i only picked fire type starters, they were fun and cool but they just lacked that super strong disposition i naturally like, mostly swift lean fighters but then Tepig came along and I NEEDED IT, the most adorble piggy ever that can blow flames out its nose, fucking amazing, but when it evolved i was so amazed to see how big and strong it was, equipped with so many powerful moves i just cannot tell how much Emboar is like me

    • Infernape – when Chimchar was revealed I thought it was cute and had Fire coming straight from its butt, instantly had to choose it. Little did I know the awesomeness it would evolve into. I also like the Sun Wu Kong aspects of the design, and it’s a Monkey. Also has my favourite anime character arc for a Pokemon. I also have a 12″ Plush of it.

      Jolteon – since I saw it in the Eevee brothers episode of the anime. I also evolved my first Eevee into it in Blue. I like that it’s spiky because of electricity. I also like its’ Green shiny form.

      Venusaur – Bulbasaur was my first starter, it’s cool and I loved it in the anime. Venusaur was my original strongest, the one I got to the highest level in Blue. I really like the way the bulb opens as it evolves and the tropical plant it becomes. I also really like its’ shiny and its’ Mega.

      Suicune- Suicune is actually the reason I ever became a Pokémon fan! When I was younger I saw a Pokémon movie (not sure which one) with Suicune and Duicune really drew me in!

      Scizor- This one was a bit harder but really deserves this spot! I fell in love with it after seeing Mega Scizor, honestly until about three months ago I didn’t even know it was Scythers evolution, I thought it was when I saw it for the first time in poke park but I looked it up and remembered it saying it wasn’t related

    • Number 3 for me is fairly new: Alolan Vulpix. I remember seeing when it was first announced during the live stream, and I squealed, because of how adorable it was. Once the games released, I immediately used one on my Sun main team, a female named Eira (which means Blizzard), and after she evolved in Ninetales, she literally helped turn the tide in my battle against Kukui.

      Number 2 (I seem to have a thing for Ice types) is Froslass. I remember back in the early days of Diamond and Pearl going through my bag, and accidentally discovering that I could use my Dawn Stone on my little Snorunt named Gina. I was curious, and evolved her, realizing that this AMAZING new Pokémon exsisted. Funny enough, what I enjoy most about her is the musical sound to her cry, on top of the awesome physical design. And that backstory to how the species came to be? AWESOME piece of lore.

      Finally, my number 1 all time FAVORITE Pokémon: Celebi!!!
      There is nothing about Celebi that I don’t love! From its design, its lore, even its typing. I fell in love with this little guy when I saw the fourth movie many years ago at the age of 11 when my dad rented it from Blockbuster (lord, I feel old!). Now, at 24 years old, Celebi still holds that top spot, and no matter what game in the series I play, I always keep Celebi on my post game team. My hope is that one day we finally will also have a shot at a legitimate Shiny Celebi, because it is also my favorite Shiny!

          As a singular, they are an Alolan Form of a single Pokémon (Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Geodude, Alolan Diglett, etc)

            You only see ‘Alolan’ if the Pokémon’s name follows it. For example, Alolan Raichu

            You don’t say Alola Vulpix or Alolan Form Raichu, you say Alola Form Raichu and Alolan Vulpix

Seeing as we have a region-neutral term for them (when they could’ve solely called them ‘Alola Forms’ like they did when they were announced) as well as the fact that they weren’t a main gimmick of Gen 7 but were introduced anyway, I think they might be here to stay.

        • That like in gen 7 there are Alolan forms of gen 1 pokemon, in gen 8 there will be forms of gen 2 pokemon, in gen 9 of gen 3 pokemon and so on untill gen 12 that will be the last one and after that they’ll make the grand reboot.

          • They kinda do tho? Generations just refer to spaces between base games, and whilst GameFreak has never labelled them ‘generation 1, 2, 3’ etc, we’ve heard the term ‘generations’ used in marketing and stuff

            SuMo was referred to as a ‘new generation’ in some advertising and it was the first nail in the coffin for the ‘SuMo = XY’s GSC’ theory

  224. I was not unimpressed with Microsoft’s conference. They actually showed games that I want to play, and also showed how those games would look SO much better in 4K on the Xbox One X. Anthem + Xbox One X in 2018 sounds like something that will be a big deal. 8/10 rating from me.

          • I know it isn’t. I just thought of something, though. With a game this graphics-intensive, the X WILL provide a better graphical experience than the Pro. If marketed correctly, Anthem will be seen as the more premium way to play the game.

  227. I feel like Sony’s in a very easy position right now. They’re already winning, and their previous console is $100 cheaper WITHOUT the likely price cut. If they drop it to $299 this holiday, it will be so much cheaper than the Xbox One X that it will seem ridiculous. I also believe that there’s a chance they will announce a PS4 Pro Slim, considering how the Pro is so much bigger than the Slim (while the reverse is true for Xbox One X).

  238. Xbox conference was super disappointing, although Anthem seems like it’s gonna be a great game akin to Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4. The only good thing EA delivered was Battlefront 2, and even that could be a hit or miss. Hopefully Nintendo and Sony won’t suffer the same fate!

          • Alright so for a useful Turtonator imo I would go for

            Nature: Calm or Bold to raise either its Defense or Spec. Def.
            Draco Meteor
            Shell Smash
            Flamethrower
            Flash Cannon
            -Then Raise up Speed with the Ev’s/Iv’s (idk the difference) plus add up some Spec. Attack and maybe some HP in with the remains
            And for items a Shuca Berry to protect from Earthquake (its biggest enemy) or a Sash if your being real cautious

            And If your wanting to pair Turtles together and have a Drought Toarkoal (depending on your tier) then Swap Flash Cannon for Solar Beam

            Shell Smash isn’t very good on it from a competitive stance due to it only working on Contact meaning your opponent anticipates it will use Earthquake or Stone Edge which can mean a death sentence on them if Shell Smash was used

            Remember I’m not the best at Competitive play this is just what I see is a good set for my Alola boi!
