Pokémon GO Fest, Solstice Event and Gym Rework!

To celebrate the game’s one year anniversary as well as 750 million global downloads, real-world events will be taking place throughout the summer and into September. The biggest of these will be the Pokémon GO Fest scheduled to be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 22. Ticket prices have not yet been announced. European players can expect special GO events held in Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers.

Furthermore, beginning on June 13 players can participate in the Solstice Event in Pokémon GO (iOS/Android) which will increase the rates of Fire and Ice-type Pokémon, offer bonus XP for Pokéball throws and also feature a Lucky Egg discount. The event will run only until June 20 though, so watch your calendars carefully!

In addition, Niantic has posted some cryptic words hinting at the long-rumored “gym rework” which will improve the system in which players capture and control Pokémon Gyms, “Soon thereafter, you can look forward to a new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokémon GO in fun new ways. In preparation for these exciting features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms for a short period of time.” We’ll have to wait and see what these new updates bring!

  4. It would have been better to just release every gen of Pokemon at once in GO. I wonder how many people still play it… It’s become a little boring to me.

      • Or releasing every gen at all, not just at once. As much as I’d love to have all the Pokemon in the game, it wouldn’t work with the current model. You’d never be able to find that next Bidoof candy. If they did that, they’d have to remodel the candies by type instead of species.

    • Well has to take a while to program it all I mean it can’t be as easy as taking ORAS sprites and coding them to a mobile database, it probably takes a long time with long hours to get it done (we probs. By End of summer beginning of Autum get Wynaut, Azurill and the others)

  25. I really don’t get why Xurkitree went to UU. Unless you have a Gliscor, Xurkitree is going to decimate pretty much everything in that tier, especially with the Z-Electric Terrain and Z-Hypnosis sets.

Random and generally useless piece of information about online tournaments: If your opponent disconnects during the battle (which sometimes happens if they know they’re losing) it still counts as a full battle. For the International April challenge I only did two full battles and the third one was cut short because the other person disconnected, but I was still able to get a code for the mega stones and the requirement was just 3 battles.

    Xurkitree outspeeds and OHKOS them both with scarf (Unless mega pidge is faster)
    Anything Xurk can’t kill is killed by Swole or a coverage mon of choice

    Do these names sound decent

    Both lines are Fire/Electric and Water/Flying with Drought and Drizzle as their only abilities

          • I think that mix references is a bit obscure, like even just looking up the word ‘mix’ wouldn’t get your point across

          • Well not every name is perfect I mean for example Croagunk has no fighting type relations in its name

            I’m going through my list and changing the lesser names

          • There’s plenty of names without type references though? Stufull, Bewear, Vibrava, Solgaleo, Lunala, Nihilego, Guzzlord, etc all have names focusing on their concepts, not their types.

      Earthquake: I hate how Earthquake looks nowadays I would change it so it looks like the Pokemon Battle Revolution, a concussive shockwave that tore through the ground with great power
      Gunk Shot: I mean wtf something called gunk shot should be a nasty torrent of sludge or slime, yet they show it in the game and anime as it tossing a trash can, this just bugs me for using real world objects in a attack used by supernatural creatures

          • Don’t think I’ve seen the trailer with him in. I believe he’ll get his movie regardless as he represents a largely underrepresented segment of the audience. As did Wonder Woman so it’s gonna happen and hopefully it can be just as good.

          • We could use more minorities for sure, but I don’t think Cyborg can really carry his own in my experience with the character

          • I’ve only ever seen him in Teen Titans cartoon so I can’t really say much beyond that. I think it would be better to do Green Lantern with Jon Stewart because he’s more powerful and there’s a whole lot more to go on. The thing with Wonder Woman was that they had all this lore to go on with the Amazons etc which really helped build her character and her ‘world’. The Green Lantern corps would possibly have even more to go on.

          • Well Black Panther is coming so there’s that. Blade I liked the first 2 movies, the third was OK. They can reboot it but I really liked Wesley Snipes in the role so the new guy would have big shades to fill.
            I hope Ms.Marvel is able to enjoy the same success as Wonder Woman so we can continue having good female superhero films. Of course because of WW we’ll probably get some bad ones too as everyone will want to bandwagon on that demographic.

          • Squirrel Girl should have a movie. I’d love a She-Hulk movie, but we’d need a solo Hulk one with Ruffalo first I feel. Marvels best female superheroes, or at least the most well known, are largely in the X-men, which means only Fox can use them. Spider-Gwen has the issue of being a different reality doesn’t she? Sony have that Black Cat & Silver Sable movie coming up, if they decide to actually run with it. That really is them trying to get in on the demographic with the very few characters they can actually use.

          • There was a chance one would happen many years ago, long before the current run of superhero movies, but thankfully it didn’t because it was in like the 80’s and would’ve sucked. They can do the character well now and should if they can get past the Universal problem.

Joining PJN was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and taking that leap of faith its gotten me far tbh so I can never regret it for a lot of reasons this place brings a lot of good memories, I met the people closest to me on here including a very special person and I’ve met so many other amazing people as well and to this day even seeing some newer faces is wonderful, all of you really brighten up the place and make it special.

  130. K it’s 1am so I’m writing this and going bed.

    It was July 2016, SM hype was strong so I watched and watched as many GX videos I could to feed my hype until one of his videos had a guest, PJ, I thought he was a cool guy so I went to take a look at his website. And I loved it, the community was great and I couldn’t stop laughing at the sassy and funny comments you made.

    So I decided to do something I haven’t done in my life, comment on a place in the internet, so in July I made an account, and used a Chandelure as my Prof pic, it was terrible tho, I was way too nervous to make comments so I ended up making 3 and deleted my account afterwards.

    It was until November 6th when I decided to build courage and join in for good and it was one of the best decisions in my life.

  139. Well since everyone else is doing similar things as of origins I now want to tell my tale which is sad, heart racing, intriguing and maybe touching depending on who you are

    The year was… forgotten I can’t remember, but the article was the leaked full Kalos dex of the datamine since that article when I was told about this place I checked everyday happily looking for a new article and stuck it out all the way to ORAS and stayed through the dry time, but I never once commented or looked down here (I had issues with online stuff then) but as I got into Miiverse I drifted from here a bit I really wish I hadn’t, till I got bored on a March day last year at a Robotics Tournament and I signed up for an disqus account, but scared off for a while by Galemucles or something (idk the guy with a Teddiursa avatar) then left till last July when after being done with Miiverse (and the Clan known as Dragma there) I came here and started to post as I only wanted to stay about a month… but as I posted I got wrapped up here when I had problems you helped me, I needed a laugh you gave me it, anything and y’all were there and you all were just so nice so I decided to stay and be here with y’all. And ever since you’ve all been there for me when I can’t decide something, when I’m upset, when I just need someone to talk to, anything you all were here for me and in turn I’ve promised whenever you need me I will try till the end to help in any way I can!     After ORAS, I started to forget how fun Pokemon was and stopped playing and actually at one point almost sold my 3ds..

    And then we got the Pokemon GO announcement. I made a new account cuz I couldn’t remember my password for CharizardKing, and met all kinds of new accounts/people and saw old Jungle users like Xatu and Dae.

    Ever since then I’ve been here just chilln… I don’t come on here very often where there is not much happening in the community but when there is exciting stuff you bet I’ll be ready to intensely discuss news!!

    I washed up here back in some long ass time ago and haven’t left since because you can’t get rid of me that easily, i caused numerous fights, outrages and overall chaos, i still wonder why i am still allowed here, I got into competitive battling and unlocked that dormant rage that still envelops me to this very nanosecond, i’d butt heads with virtually anybody and vice versa, i quickly and effectively established that i am a natural born Master of Ground type Pokemon and one of the very firsts to show such unflinching loyalism and enthusiasm for such a neglected type, I got angry at the drop of a hat and had great urges to bite people’s legs off, i swore a blood oath to hate some users for life (they know what they did) when the drought came i became a regular on Chatango for a couple of months until i was banned for a whole week due to one of my biggest meltdowns in my entire life (which wasn’t even my fault) then i found my way back to Disqus where i belong, met some assholes, schmucks and some faggots whom i love very dearly (keep it under your fucking hat or i’ll break your god damn legs off) and honestly my memory comes and goes, people kept changing their usernames and i barely recognize them anymore, in my time here i have firmly established myself as the local sociopathic war lord who loves beating people senseless and has a colorfully graphic mind on how to commit these atrocities

  148. Since it’s Super Backstory Time Block here on Pokejungle, I might as well join in. I remember coming in all the way back in September (I think it was about a CoroCoro leak, it was the 14th), and I believe my first username was Pokemon Trainer Alex. I named myself this because I couldn’t think of a good name, so I just said “Fuck it” and went for it. As the months went by, I made a lot of friends here. I’m actually friends with Seraph here irl, I met him through another one of my friends as well as another one, and the four of us just kinda became a little group (we also have a Kik group chat, but it’s not just us four anymore). In case you’re wondering, I started with Diamond and Pearl (Or Leaf Green, I don’t remember which), it’s why I’m so fond of Gen 4. I did a face reveal a while back too (Just search through my profile and you should find it. I just like to come here to unwind, talk to peeps, and share my interests to see if anyone shares it.I’m a very social person, if you couldn’t tell. That’s about it.

  154. I had to present a project at the psych fair at my school three periods straight and on our project, done on a black trifold board, there was a blank spot
    Our project was psychology of humor and part of the presentation listed off different types of humor
    The blank spot we couldn’t find something to fit there
    I spent the next three periods pulling out random excuses from my ass such “This black empty spot represents my emotional state after presenting for three periods straight!” before telling them it was really cause we didn’t know what to put there and that my comment was an example of improvisational humor….

  166. Hmmmmmm if i did wind up in Ooo what would be my goals and lifestyle?
    well i’d think i’d find myself with the Marauders and they teach me the art of rough housing, some time i find the mythical Tuskhorn Ursa a guardian animal (a stone eating bear with bull horns and hippo tusks); which i prompt slain skinned and ripped the horns and tusks out of its head and mouth, where i meet Eurthok “Thok” which is the last Tuskhorn in the realm and taking pity on it and i seize as a mount (but over the years we become bros)
    and during our travels i meet this enchanted fortress, and we make it our new home, this castle is alive and initially tries to kill us and multiple times but after protect him from enemies and filling his loot room he agrees to let us stay, and i give him the nickname Storm (Storm the Castle)
    so now me and Thok now raid places for loot and return to our magical stronghold

            a rare magical bear creature known as the Tuskhorn Ursa whom i killed and made into armor…..but the last cub was still alive and i took it with me, over the years we bonded and became friends
            It likes to eat rocks and has a fondness for laziness

            me getting into Ooo, being found by the marauders, they teach me to fight and craft armor and they tell me that big game animal pelts make the best gear and i somehow stumble on the rare Tuskhorn Ursa, and i manage to kill it sheerly by accident, but not gonna go home empty handed i get leather and horns and the last known Tuskhorn and i raise it, over time we find a magical talking fortress and we take up residence in exchange for gold and we name it Storm

  188. Oh I was a little late to the party, but I suppose its as good of a time to crash it as any. With the reveal of USUM I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about it at first, but it was a good surprise. I think its interesting and I’m really curious where they will go with this, I mean an alternate universe to SuMo there could be some possibilities there, I like the idea of it and similar to any new game especially those that sparks an interest in me I’m going to give it a chance before judging it. It could suck yet it also very well could be one of the best games in the series or even an improvement from things that were missed in SuMo once you think about it, maybe this time we will have a better post game as well but we won’t know for sure until we actually play it and start to learn more. I do like how they revealed it too tbh, it gave us something to look forward to and since they didn’t give away a whole lot of information now for me personally that’s something where I’m going to get more curious about until that curiosity is sated. Its one of those things I enjoy about reveals is even with how short that trailer was as frustrating as it can be its also exciting at the same time. I don’t blame those for being unhappy, everyone’s going to have their own opinion and it can be understandable. So yes it would have been mind blowing if they had it on the Switch but maybe there’s a reason why it isn’t, they have the opportunity at their disposal and they most likely know people will want this and what better way to add more to the Switch console then a added Pokemon game so there’s still a chance for a different main Pokemon game to be on there down the road and who knows the DP remakes very well could be the first main series game on it, the one bright side I can see of them not showing DP remakes yet is that it gives them the opportunity to make the games that much more special and hopefully not rushed through, something that will hopefully bring that nostalgic factor back to those who started in that generation and who favor it where they’ll be able to enjoy those just as much as the first time. In all I have hope USUM will bring something amazing to the table, so that even those with doubts maybe it will bring back their love of the series. I love Pokemon so wherever this takes us I’m in it for the long haul and I can’t wait! I enjoyed SuMo but like with any game it had some things to improve on so I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with this
