Pokémon GO Fest, Solstice Event and Gym Rework!

To celebrate the game’s one year anniversary as well as 750 million global downloads, real-world events will be taking place throughout the summer and into September. The biggest of these will be the Pokémon GO Fest scheduled to be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 22. Ticket prices have not yet been announced. European players can expect special GO events held in Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers.

Furthermore, beginning on June 13 players can participate in the Solstice Event in Pokémon GO (iOS/Android) which will increase the rates of Fire and Ice-type Pokémon, offer bonus XP for Pokéball throws and also feature a Lucky Egg discount. The event will run only until June 20 though, so watch your calendars carefully!

In addition, Niantic has posted some cryptic words hinting at the long-rumored “gym rework” which will improve the system in which players capture and control Pokémon Gyms, “Soon thereafter, you can look forward to a new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokémon GO in fun new ways. In preparation for these exciting features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms for a short period of time.” We’ll have to wait and see what these new updates bring!

      Dex# 533: Fighting Type guy with an iron girder. It’s stronger that its pre-evo and has a clown nose.
      (UPD3) Dex # 534: Fighting Type guy with a concrete block in each hand. Its gotten huge and badass in the process. The clown nose isn’t all that funny anymore.

    • Wonder Woman was so good though? Like that’s the standard all DCU stuff should be. I like how every character didn’t have an extensive ‘meet this character’ bit but all still had well fleshed out personalities and stuff :0

      • Yeah, I do think some of the Villain stuff was a bit weak, and the comedy secretary was just there but overall so much better than the other ones.

          • She was fine, I just didn’t really see a need for her character at all after the dress trying scene. She could have played a bit more of a part in the final outcome with some information or something. But oh well, not like she ruined anything.

          • I really hope they cancel the Cyborg movie, that screams flop to me, especially seeing how horrible he looks in the JL trailer

          • Don’t think I’ve seen the trailer with him in. I believe he’ll get his movie regardless as he represents a largely underrepresented segment of the audience. As did Wonder Woman so it’s gonna happen and hopefully it can be just as good.

          • We could use more minorities for sure, but I don’t think Cyborg can really carry his own in my experience with the character

          • I’ve only ever seen him in Teen Titans cartoon so I can’t really say much beyond that. I think it would be better to do Green Lantern with Jon Stewart because he’s more powerful and there’s a whole lot more to go on. The thing with Wonder Woman was that they had all this lore to go on with the Amazons etc which really helped build her character and her ‘world’. The Green Lantern corps would possibly have even more to go on.

          • Yes, I was just gonna say Jon Stewart could totally headline a movie! I wouldn’t mind another go at Blade either (Marvel, I know.)

          • Well Black Panther is coming so there’s that. Blade I liked the first 2 movies, the third was OK. They can reboot it but I really liked Wesley Snipes in the role so the new guy would have big shades to fill.
            I hope Ms.Marvel is able to enjoy the same success as Wonder Woman so we can continue having good female superhero films. Of course because of WW we’ll probably get some bad ones too as everyone will want to bandwagon on that demographic.

            Unfortunately Marvel is going to have to get creative if they want to do more female movies (and they better).
            -Spider-Gwen? That’d fall under sony so it’d be tricky
            -Kamala Khan
            -Scarlet Witch, hopefully they leave that door open
            -Black Widow..any day..
            -She Hulk (dunno if that’d fall under the hulk solo movie dilemma)
            -Spider-woman (She should be in the MCU. She’s not related to spider-man at all)

          • Squirrel Girl should have a movie. I’d love a She-Hulk movie, but we’d need a solo Hulk one with Ruffalo first I feel. Marvels best female superheroes, or at least the most well known, are largely in the X-men, which means only Fox can use them. Spider-Gwen has the issue of being a different reality doesn’t she? Sony have that Black Cat & Silver Sable movie coming up, if they decide to actually run with it. That really is them trying to get in on the demographic with the very few characters they can actually use.

          • There was a chance one would happen many years ago, long before the current run of superhero movies, but thankfully it didn’t because it was in like the 80’s and would’ve sucked. They can do the character well now and should if they can get past the Universal problem.
