Meet Amaura’s and Tyrunt’s Evolutions Aurorus & Tyrantrum! [UPD1]

[UPD1] A few new pictures added

The evolution for the recently revealed Pokémon Amaura has been leaked by the website Jeux Video. Its name is Aurorus and has a new attack called Freeze-Dry which is super effective against Water-type Pokémon and may freeze opponents! Update: IGN has now released some pictures of Tyrantrum, Tyrunt’s evolution. It can learn Head Smash.

Game Details

In addition to the two new Pokémon, various game outlets got to play Pokémon X & Y and have revealed some small additions to the games.

  • New Kalos Pokémon will not be receiving Mega Evolutions, only Pokémon from generations 1 through 5
  • It’s official, Masuda has confirmed that the overworld will not be in 3D, only battles and some special scenes
  • PokéCenters will now feature an area to customize trainer appearance alongside the medical area and PokéMart
  • Pokémon now gain XP when the wild opponent is captured
  • Professor Sequioa asks you to run an errand at the start of the game: delivering a letter to your mother

Trivia

Amargasaurus

Amaura and its evolution are both probably based on Amargasaurus. The artist of the above picture has depicted it with skin sails similar to the two Pokémon, but recent theories speculate that the rows of spikes probably stood on their own without any connecting tissue.

      • Since its an international game I’m sure you’ll be able to
use ō instead of oo for its name. Flabébé is proof of that.
Bōgu’s cool. Boogu kinda make me think of booger. :I

          • Lol @ Boo Boo the cat. 🙂
Boo Guu is possible, too, with a space in between.
Either way, you’ve got yourself a name for it.
I feel nicknames add to the connection
and kinda gives them a lil’ personality.

    • Fennekin: Sasuke I always put this name to my starter pokemon<33

    • I need to see Chespin’s 2nd stage evo to know what to really name it.
I’d nickname Tyrunt its German name, Balguras, because it sounds like a Godzilla monster name. I’d give Amaura the nickname Nívea
from the Spanish word nieve, meaning snow.

          • Think of it as a name. I created it myself (when I didn’t know english) and it’s just for me xD It means everything and nothing at the same time. And don’t use capitals on it ^^

          • I wanna use your name in a story, if I may.
            *ahem*

You’re at the park, gently feeding some Pidgey, and then suddenly, a flock of wild Pidove appear. You’re like, “OK, cool.
I’ll feed you guys, too. (‘∩_∩)” Then they wanna be all brave and get closer and closer to the bench like they don’t give a fnck. Like you can’t just get up and throw a Pokéball at them. Like you’re not some kind of Pokémon Trainer, but a food dispenser to them. Then comes along oooone little Pidove hopping onto your lap. “Awwww. I’ma lil’ terrified, but you’re so cuuute. (,ᵒ̌‿ᵒ̌,)” And then it happens…
It shitzon you. All. Over you. (ԾДԾ)७

          • Yeah, I know how my name is pronounced. That’s why I said that I invented it back when I didn’t know to speak english. But nice effort ;P

    • My Chespin will be named Garland. Both due to that being a plant thing, and also, Garland, the Knight/Dark Knight from Final Fantasy… And I so, SO hope Chespin can learn Knock Down/Smack Down. That is my greatest wish right now. Because then… I can have Garland… Used Knock Down. And it was Super Effective. HAPPIEST DAY IN MY LIFE.

Beyond that, I’m looking at Malamar as being Cthulu or some other HP Lovecraft creature if male, obvious Ursula if Female. Kaiser for Tyrantrum. And that’ skind of where I stand right now.

      • Really nice name for Chespin. I likes.
Garland also sounds like the word garnish, which means to furnish with beautifying details; adorn; embellish. It’s also what you do to food sometimes, like garnish a dish with some herbs or garnishing a salad with croutons or bacon bits.
I really want Quilladin to garnish some badass armor when it evolves!

        Reply
        • Well, YOU name yours Steiner, I’m sticking with Garland. Besides, I also played Dissidia, and Garland was my favorite character in the game, so I’m pretty firm on this.

And I’m saying this in good fun, just want to say. I understand the reasoning behind it, I just want to use Garland.

      “Sorry, we’re sold out.”

      • Heh. I’ve had my preordered for a few weeks, paid in full as well too, so I can just walk in and grab it, and leave. I already OWN Pokemon Y, technically, that’s how I preorder. And that makes the wait even worse XD

        Reply
        • Wow, XD, I haven’t preordered mine yet since the wait is EXCRUCIATING, and preordering it now will be even more EXCRUCIATING.

          • Basically, any shop that does preorders will ask for you’re address, number and any basic contact details. Sometimes you have to pay a deposit which entitles you to have a copy kept back for when you are to pick it up.

          • And also sometimes with big games like this they ask for ID, so bring a form of one like a learners permit, or Drivers License. I usually use my motor cycle license since I have that on me most of the time 😉

          • They agreed to let me get the game as long as I stay focused on school and if I save up some money. Mom loves the game too and thinks Spritzee is so cute, lol.

          • Well, it kind of depends on where you go… Usually, if you do it at a store, like a Wal-Mart, or a Gamestop, you can put down a 5 dollar deposit, Wal-Mart actually has little cards for this purpose now, which basically reserves a copy so you will absolutely have one there, and you can pay it off at that date. What I do, as I generally do my preordering at Gamestop, when I actually preorder, I just tell them I want to pay it off in full, and I have an account, so all they have to do is check my card/tell them who I am and confirm it, and I can walk out with the game.

          • I’m just wondering if my Gamestop will have a Midnight Release. Becuase I want to get this game at the absolute earliest time, because I HAVE A WEEK OFF SCHOOL THE WEEK AFTER THE GAME COMES OUT. W00T!

          • You put down a deposit on the game to reserve yourself a copy when the game is released.

This does NOT guarantee you a copy. However, the ordered ‘reserved’ copies in stock are separate from ordered shelf copies.

Still get there early or they will give away even your preordered copy depending on the game’s popularity. However, preordering does raise your chances of ensuring a copy.

          • Or I could just get to the shop or 9 am haha, and literally charge through the door as soon as the shutter starts coming up

          • Just preorder it. It’s not harmful nor do you pay more for the game. Plus it’s satisfying to order in advance as then you owe less on the game come release.

          • You still purchase it physically. Preordering is just a down payment. You basically loan Gamestop or where ever a payment, either partial or full. When the game is released, they will have a copy reserved for you for pick up (you will need to pay in full if you haven’t already).

So really, you only wouldn’t preorder if you like to live dangerously and potentially not be in time to get your game.

          • Yeah. As my teacher always says- “If you don’t make a mistake, you’re far from from the light that will lead you to your potential.”

          • Well, yeah, probably, I seriously doubt their entire stock could be already preordered ENTIRELY. But, they will have to keep the number for their Preordered People.

          • At GameStop do they make you sign up for all of those Power-up reward things? If they do I’m going to Walmart, I saw the reservation cards there. Except they didn’t have one for Pokemon Y 🙁

          • They might have you do that. I had done it some time ago, so I still have my card and account, even if its’ defunct, it still tracks my preorders.

          • They will offer it to you, but you don’t need to sign up for it to preorder, just use your phone or cell number, but imo its a great benefit to have. I got my platinum card and I use the points to get discounts, like I got GTA V for 20 buck using a 30 off coupon 😛

          • You can trade things towards a preorder. At gamestop, you can put credit towards preorders. The power up reward card gives you an additional 10% towards your preorder.

          • As a note, iunno about the reservation cards because I dislike Walmart, but Gamestop nor Best Buy require any slips to use. Just put money down and they’ll order a copy for you.

          • I’ll agree with ya, Walmart is (for lack of a better term) crap for preordering games imo. I once preordered Pokemon Platinum from them, went there in the morning, and they said that it wasn’t out until a week later. I tried telling them it came out that day I came, but they said no. So I went to a toysrus and got it that same day. It then happened again with my preorder of GTA IV, they said the same thing, so I did the same thing, went to toysrus across the street and got it.

          • They get a shipment based on what GameFreak ships them. So, Gamestop would report the number of preorders for GF to guarantee shipment of, then GF ships whatever copies they determine would be enough to maintain profit.

For example, Apple is only shipping ten Iphone 5s to certain retail locations for the whole week. As you can imagine that isn’t many.

You don’t know how many GF will have shipped to retail companies so preordering does assist you in at least having your copy specifically for you shipped.

          • I preordered it in full already lol and my plan maybe to get it in the morning, and have her hold it till I get back 😉

          • Not necessarily.

When GS gets a preorder list of everyone who reserved the game, they make absolutely certain they have enough games on hold for preorders.

All games left over are then put on the shelf.

Everyone who hasn’t preordered, which is still a lot of people for some reason (Pokemon sells 2 m just in America, and only 1 m have preordered world wide) will have the same idea as you do: try to beat the crowd.

So you CAN but you have a considerably smaller guarantee than just preordering.

          • Yeah i forgot about that when writing my other post. Still getting there as early as possible to start playing as early as possible.

          • I usually preorder from GameStop and I never faced anyone selling off my copy if I miss release day. But GS is also a good choose as you can choose to pay what ever amount you want, and even use trade in credit to add on to it every time you want till its paid off, well that’s what I did at least lol.

          • I usually do too and they rarely do it, but it has happened to me. I mean, it was probably a mistake, considering how many games they have, it would be easy to get mixed up. However, just because you preorder doesn’t guarantee you’ll get it anyway, was my point. But reserving is still the best security.

          • It all really depends on want, if there are more buyers then demand, they will sell your preorder copy, happened with Fire Emblem Awakening (which I was lucky to snag the last copy of aka the LAST game in the entire town). But seeing that my towns GS is pretty much a retirement place and no one but a few little kids go to, I think I got myself covered lol

          • And not being promised a copy (and pure excitement and inability to wait) are the exact reasons my best friend and i preordered at the lesser known/visited GameStop by our mall and will be there before they open haha. Good luck everyone.

      • I already own it. I just have to pick it up.

They only put on the shelf what they have left after preorders. Reserve ASAP so you don’t forget!

  5. CLEMONT CONFIRMED AS ELECTRIC-TYPE GYM LEADER ON BULBAPEDIA.

“Serena is a girl from the Kalos region who loves fashion. It seems that she has met Ash before. Clemont is an Electric-type Gym Leader who loves inventing. He keeps his prized invention, theAipom Arm, in his rucksack. Bonnie is Clemont’s sister. Since she is trying to find a wife for her brother, Bonnie is a girl with a stern personality. As she isn’t a Trainer yet, she will be keeping Clemont’s Pokémon instead. The three characters will be voiced by Mayuki Makaguchi, Yūki Kaji, and Mariya Ise respectively.”

  8. I have to say, design-wise they are almost equal in greatness!
I think it comes down to personal taste.

Some want a badass, elegant, cute, regal, among other culmination of personality traits on their team.

I like the regal and elegant types, so I might go with Aurorus at some point before I choose Tyrantrum. Though, I will use both of these pokemon at some point in time since they are, as a pair, the best fossil duo I can think of.

    Reply
    • I love regal and elegant types, too. I feel that these two fossil Pokémon represent those types. Tyrantrum is regal while Aurorus is elegant.

  9. I hope there is another professor. I always think it’s weird there is just one Professor each region, maybe he Sycamore studies actual Mega Evolution while the other is trying to find out the origin of Mega Stones ?

And if there is a Professor Sequioa, I dunno why but, I’d love rival professors trying to out do each other or something lol

Sycamore: “Oh I see you have been given a Pokemon from Sequioa, here have a Kanto Starter.” XD

    Reply
      • Yeah. I’d like another female professor.

I saw this about sequoia trees – “The sequoia is a majestic tree symbolizing eternity, longevity, and
vast wisdom. It can also symbolize endurance and strength. Sequoia
wood makes excellent Druidic staffs, as it is very good at both holding
        and conducting energy.”

It’d be cool to see a Professor based around that 😀

        • Sycamore could also be the focus of one of the games and Sequoia in another. Or perhaps they just have conflicting ideals so often argue. Sounds like they’d make a great couple. <3

          Reply
          • I’d love that! A professor couple would definitely be different. could see them occasionally trying to get “one over” on the other in their work haha

    • Reminds me of Bill and Lanette. Sycamore looks like the ruffed up lazy butt and he gives off a competitive vibe. I hope he gets a lot of development, he’s my favorite professor already. Professors so far have been kind of generic.

      Reply
      • We are getting to fight him, so that’s a start. Giving the professor a bit more interaction. Though, we have ‘technically’ kind of done that before, depending on what you classify Colress as. He was kind of a Professor… Sort’ve. Had the Lab Coat, even acted as a mentor like character for some of the game, you sure saw him a hell of a lot more than Juniper. And of course he was mostly a villain.

  10. Question.
Is freeze-dry super-effective on both water AND flying, dragon, grass, and ground?
    Or is this unknown?

Also, do you guys think other moves of this nature will be introduced?
I hope grass types get some of these to fend off some of their weaknesses.

    Reply
    • Yes, all of the above. I could see a move like Scald have this. Maybe a water attack from Clauncher that is so hot it is super effective against grass types. Similar to what happens when you put lettuce in hot water. And yeah, grass types need some serious help 🙁

  11. The only things I want to see at this point in time are:

    1) Helioptile Evolution (hoping it becomes Electric/Steel now instead of Electric/Ice, as I will have Aurorus on my team)

    2) Swirlix and/or Dedenne Evolution (I want to choose my Fairy-type for Kalos!)

  12. Apparently this is a list of the types in the Kalos dex that was found on 4chan, it is more than likely fake due to it saying Meowstic, Honedge, and Oorotto evolves but we can take it with a grain of salt.
