Meet Amaura’s and Tyrunt’s Evolutions Aurorus & Tyrantrum! [UPD1]

[UPD1] A few new pictures added

The evolution for the recently revealed Pokémon Amaura has been leaked by the website Jeux Video. Its name is Aurorus and has a new attack called Freeze-Dry which is super effective against Water-type Pokémon and may freeze opponents! Update: IGN has now released some pictures of Tyrantrum, Tyrunt’s evolution. It can learn Head Smash.

Game Details

In addition to the two new Pokémon, various game outlets got to play Pokémon X & Y and have revealed some small additions to the games.

  • New Kalos Pokémon will not be receiving Mega Evolutions, only Pokémon from generations 1 through 5
  • It’s official, Masuda has confirmed that the overworld will not be in 3D, only battles and some special scenes
  • PokéCenters will now feature an area to customize trainer appearance alongside the medical area and PokéMart
  • Pokémon now gain XP when the wild opponent is captured
  • Professor Sequioa asks you to run an errand at the start of the game: delivering a letter to your mother

Trivia

Amargasaurus

Amaura and its evolution are both probably based on Amargasaurus. The artist of the above picture has depicted it with skin sails similar to the two Pokémon, but recent theories speculate that the rows of spikes probably stood on their own without any connecting tissue.

  1. I love this new info! Only thing is that we’ve known about Tyrunt and Amaura for about a week and Oorotto since (July????)! Why can’t they just give us Oorotto! 🙁

    • He didn’t look that young to me. But I do wonder how they’ll involve her in his backstory. We don’t know much about him before his journey started anyway. Maybe they’ll do…gasp…character development.

  4. So at this point, what types do you think the starter final evolutions are going to be, now it has been confirmed by Masuda that they are based off of Mideval RPG classes?

      • Sometimes you’ve just gotta think logically. Lookin’ back on Sylveon’s debut, almost every single type was mentioned, yet barely anyone chose to believe in a Fairy-type. It’s a great example on how people can be too blind to see what’s visible to them with common sense (which nowadays should be dubbed “rare” sense…).

I’m with ya on the types. Quilladin in now way looks like a Dark-type.
Frogadier… could possible abduct children for ransom. And we’d still love it and say, “Oh, Froggy~”

        • LOL, Oh Froggy.

I just can not see cute, adorable, gentle Chespin becoming part Dark. I think it’ll become brave and a Fighting type. It’s the warrior in rpg 😀

          Reply
          • Considering its name is Quilladin, which looks like a pun on Paladin, I would certainly say so. It is gonna be a tank for sure. A fighting type tank would be weird.

        • When the rumor came out about fairy type on pokebeach waaay back, I had no doubts about it because of one known fact: “fairy egg group”

          Reply
        • Actually a large majority of people were 100% convinced that Sylveon was a flying type, enough that quite a lot of them were vicious about it.

When fairy type was revealed, those people silenced pretty damn quick and never apologized for their arrogant assumptions.

I dunno if people realized this but RPGs typically have huge influences from fairy tales. Many DnD players even use references from fairy tales like Alice in Wonderland for adventures.

          • I was one of the peeps who wanted it to be a Flying-type.
But, that’s mainly because my favorite element is wind.
I had no problems with it being a Fairy-type, in fact, it was my second choice. Now when it comes to viciousness, I’d say those who wanted a Normal-type Sylveon were at the top of the food chain. Serebii’s forums had a good amount.
Flying-type wanters were actually fairly nice there.

          • I actually had a feeling it would be a new type. It didn’t really fit any description of current types. Except maybe normal due to Jigglypuff and such.

Maybe it depended on location. Some people were pretty nice about it in general. Other people were vicious. I recall my sightings of the vicious flying wanters being Youtube and Facebook, but people there are generally rude.

      • The only problem with that is that not only does water best fire beat grass best water, but dark beats psychic beats fighting beats dark. So instead of being a 2 way triangle like rumoured, each starter would be overpowered against one and over weakened to another

        Reply
        • How is that a problem? When has GameFreak tried to balance the starters outside of Gen 4 type wise? The whole point of starters is you’re strong against 1 and weak against the other lol. So many fans are harped on this balance idea.

    • O: when did he confirm it? (Haven’t gotten to see a lot of the news, been REALLY busy) Fire/Psychic, Grass/Fighting, and Water/Drak :p

      Reply
    • I’m kinda leaning towards what some people are saying about the PokéBeach leaker trying to cover up his tracks a bit.
Initially, he said the starters will be Grass/Fighting, Fire/Psychic, and
Water/Dark, but then switch Chespin and Froakie around.
In actuality, it looks like Chespin will turn out to become a
Grass/Fighting-type knight. Froakie’s slender frame makes it ideal for a
Water/Dark-type rogue. Add in Fennekin as the Fire/Psychic-type mage and you’ve got yourself some classical Medeval RPG classes.

      Reply
    • Paladin, Mage, and Rogue so pretty much either Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting or Grass/Fighting, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Dark.

      Reply
    • Ignoring the accuracy of pokebeach rumors, does anyone think that chespin can become grass/steel or fennekin fire/fairy or froakie water/fighting?

      Reply
      • I don’t see grass/steel for Chespin because of the advertising of Frogadier learning bounce, which would no longer be super-effective against Chespin. I could only see this if Fraixen becomes part bug type to resist Mud Shot, which I very much doubt.

        Reply
      • It’s very flawed, type wise. 4x effective on Chespin from fire and its Steel typing would be normal effective on Fennekin, since Fire is resistant to Steel. And Fighting is not very effective on Fairy. Plus, I don’t see any starter getting the new type. But it is a possibility to keep in mind.

  5. So, anyone with me that if they reveal a Dark Type gym, and or that you face a new set of gym leaders in Kalso after beating the League once as a after story with a new villain. How happy with everyone be?

  6. So…it’s likely we’ll have more evolutions revealed the coming 3 weeks, maybe 1 or 2 per week, before the worldwide release…you know, exactly one week ago we got Pyroar. I hope so 🙂

  7. Has anyone else seen the posts on Twitter from a person named “XY1012?”
It’s most likely a troll, but he has posted some information, and it seems a bit fishy. Anyone care to check it out?

It seems like Inkay likes to be upside-down sometimes.
I’d love to see an upside-down (or is it right-side up) Malamar in the ocean.

  9. I still find it weird that the Kalos pokemon don’t get megas. I can see why they’re doing it, it just feels weird to me. As long as at least the starters get megas in the next game(s) whether it’s the Ruby/Sapphire remakes or the next game for X and Y. I just want my Fennekin to Mega Evolve haha.
It is a little disappointing that it’s not all in 3D but either way it still looks amazing and I can’t wait to see the battles.
And I don’t know if I’m the only one here that links this, but I’m glad that your Pokemon get EXP when you catch a wild pokemon. It honestly didn’t seem fair that you didn’t because you’re still battling so…it just seems fair is all.

    • Save some room for later Augustus!
We need to experience Kalos pokemon without Mega’s first! Imagine if Kanto pokemon had megalutions in gen 1. We will appreciate the new additions of megas sometime in the future.

    • It is weird, but it does make sense to me. To get used to the new ones and buff the older ones. But I’m pretty sure they will in the future. 😀
It is, but I do like the reason they give. To use it sparingly, so that we could savor the moments it is in 3D. That made me really excited. And it does look amazing on its own.
I was okay either way, but it does make training and grinding a lot easier and as well as building a team.
Overall, I liked what they had to say. It cleared things up, and I’m all the better for it.
