Its name is Aurorus and has a new attack called Freeze-Dry which is super effective against Water-type Pokémon and may freeze opponents! Update: IGN has now released some pictures of Tyrantrum, Tyrunt’s evolution. It can learn Head Smash.

Trivia

Amargasaurus

Amaura and its evolution are both probably based on Amargasaurus. The artist of the above picture has depicted it with skin sails similar to the two Pokémon, but recent theories speculate that the rows of spikes probably stood on their own without any connecting tissue.

    • My two thoughts about that trailer:
      1. That Water Gun animation looks off. It looks like Squirtle’s entire head is spewing water, not just his mouth.
      2. That scene where Red and Charizard are floating together… In the next one Red’s gone. CHARIZARD ATE HIM!

  1. Edit @ 09:10: It has also been confirmed that the game will not receive any post-release patches to alter the components of the game for additional balance.

    Serebii just posted this. Not sure what it means. Also Japanese Pokecenters will recieve an XY birthday event running from release. You have the option to choose between Pikachu, the eeveelutions, sylveon included, and eevee itself. Something tells me these pokemon might know present.
    Personally i hope each pokemon gets a special move. I think it would be cool if Vaporeon got Water Spout, Espeon got psystrike, Jolteon got Parabolic Charge, Flareon got Sacred Fire, and Umbreon got Dark Void. Leafeon could get Growth, Glaceon could get Freeze Dry, and Sylveon could get Geomancy, unless it isn’t a fairy type move. Eevee could get Frolic/Play around, or that priority move Furfrou has, and Pikachu could get Moonblast. Don’t know why though, i just like the idea.

  2. So here’s something of an Idea in consideration to Tyrantrum’s ability Strong Jaw
    Strong Jaw increases the power of biting moves (perfect for a T-Rex)
    Moves that’ll be increased
    Bite
    Crunch
    Bug Bite (technically)
    Elemental Fangs
    poison fang (with power increased perfect for fairies)
    I thinks that all of them, Correct me if i’m wrong

    But what has been bugging me that Dragons haven’t earned a Dragon “Fang” attack
    “Dragon Fang” base power 100 “the user bites the opponent with draconic force that deals damage regardless of defense”

    Now I know the dangers of fan made moves but this would be a perfect move for dragon types everywhere

  3. What do you guys think about Aurorus’s Ability explanation? Will a normal move become an ice, get a boost & another boost for STAB or just one boost to mimick a STAB power up?

    Example:
    Normal poke:

    Body slam: normal, 80 => normal, 120

    Ice poke:
    Body slam: normal, 80 => ice, 120
    ———–or———–
    Body slam: normal, 80 => ice, 140-160

    • Only Amaura and Aurorus are super effective against the other.

      The above mentioned Pokemon are part rock type so it wouldn’t receive super effective hits.

      Reply
      • What do you mean? Rock/Dragon is weak to Ice. Why is it everyone thinks Rock resists Ice? For Example, Geodude is weak to Ice, as he is Rock Ground, and Ground is weak to Ice. Craidily is also weak to Ice, being Rock/Grass. So, Amaura’s Ice is SE and Tyrunt’s Rock is SE

    • The sail fossil has a serene feel to it where the Jaw fossil has a more edgy feel to it. Pokemon wise I liked Amaura, but Tyrnatrum sold me.

    • I haven’t seen what they look like, but they fit the Pokemon. Sail sounds graceful, while Jaw sounds powerful.
      And I like Amaura and its evo better, but I like their designs. They fit that royalty theme. 😀

  4. Anybody see the Eurogamer interview with Masuda? Masuda said there would be a greater variety of wild Pokémon in the wild, so that each time you enter tall grass, you are more likely to find a different Pokémon. Pokémon types and appearances change based on flower color in the wild. Masuda also stated that there might be an easier way to obtain Shiny Pokémon, while Yoshida said that they wanted to make a Shiny Pokémon’s color stand out more. I’m all for a greater variety of Pokémon, but I don’t know how I feel about Shiny Pokémon being easier to obtain. Makes them feel less special.

    • I don’t want shinies once a route, but a little more common would be nice. I’m in the party that thinks that more shinies won’t make them less special- it’s just more exciting. What if while we’re walking through a route and the game happens to generate a shiny, the flower that it’ll be generated on will sparkle? The game very rarely generates shiny Pokemon, but when it does, it’d be nice to know your next encounter will be one instead of just leaving the route or getting into a trainer battle.

      About the different flowers, I wonder that that means that instead of about 7 Pokemon on each route, there’ll be about 15. That would balance new Pokemon and old ones well.

    • My first thought was that different flowers bloom in different seasons. It’d be amazing if they synced it up with real life or did the sped-up version like BW did. So there could be like irises for spring, sunflowers for summer, and then asters for fall. That would be EPIC.

  5. Ok so I realized that I want a Pokemon game with time travel, and then we go back in time Chrono Trigger style and get all of these fossil Pokemon before they are even fossils!

    • It looks different. It’d probably be pretty ugly in the real world, but it looks cool ingame. I’m still waiting for the one that looks just like the anime’s and has that Pokeball transporter built into it.
