Meet Amaura’s and Tyrunt’s Evolutions Aurorus & Tyrantrum! [UPD1]

[UPD1] A few new pictures added

The evolution for the recently revealed Pokémon Amaura has been leaked by the website Jeux Video. Its name is Aurorus and has a new attack called Freeze-Dry which is super effective against Water-type Pokémon and may freeze opponents! Update: IGN has now released some pictures of Tyrantrum, Tyrunt’s evolution. It can learn Head Smash.

Game Details

In addition to the two new Pokémon, various game outlets got to play Pokémon X & Y and have revealed some small additions to the games.

  • New Kalos Pokémon will not be receiving Mega Evolutions, only Pokémon from generations 1 through 5
  • It’s official, Masuda has confirmed that the overworld will not be in 3D, only battles and some special scenes
  • PokéCenters will now feature an area to customize trainer appearance alongside the medical area and PokéMart
  • Pokémon now gain XP when the wild opponent is captured
  • Professor Sequioa asks you to run an errand at the start of the game: delivering a letter to your mother

Trivia

Amargasaurus

Amaura and its evolution are both probably based on Amargasaurus. The artist of the above picture has depicted it with skin sails similar to the two Pokémon, but recent theories speculate that the rows of spikes probably stood on their own without any connecting tissue.

    • Based on the model, I really doubt it. It’s physically larger in terms of being thick, but it’s about on par with Aurorus, who height is 8’10, and based on that we can guage it’s length, and Tyrantum is only a little bit longer, and maybe a bit shorter, or at the same height.

        • Well, length wise that might be fairly accurate, but I’m fairly certain they will show it’s size stat by it’s height, and based on screenshots, it looks like Tyrantum will be 7’8″ to 8’1″ or so. But it does look longer than Aurorus is tall, so 3 meters long from snout to tail may be right.

  1. I think it’s the way the mouth and jaw are shaped in the official art that make me not like tyrantrum as much. It’s tongue is weird looking and the jaw seems at a weird angle to me. I still like it, but I think I prefer Aurorus even though I prefer tyrunt to amaura.

  2. Since the official site has to update along with IGN and those websites I think we can expect a new trailer soon with more Pokemon and more details ^.^

      • Darn, the colors look less clear in the new one. I like the old ones more, but then again, this picture is a bit fuzzy. Then again, I guess the new one does look a bit more realistic. Gah, who cares how much better it looks- it’s still tons better than the old gens!

          • Urgh, I know! I feel like my expectations don’t even exist for some games anymore. It’s like, no matter how badly they could screw this up, it’ll still look better than the old ones. Same with Smash Bros- even if they took out my favorite character (PT), at least they’re making another one!

          • True- 3DS games tend to look pretty bad in pictures but great on the system. I’ve never played a bad looking 3DS game.

  3. Mr. Masuda set us straight, “So the X and Y actually come from the two axes, the X and the Y axes,” Masuda said. “These are used as kind of a way to express different ways of thinking–different opinions–and it’s actually tied into the themes of the games, which is expressed through certain differences in the story between the two versions. So there will be slight differences to the story in X and Y. It also ties into the message we want to convey with these games: Even though X and Y are representing these two different ways of thought, there’s a point where they overlap. So we really want to convey the message of finding these points that we as humans share in common, rather than focusing on the differences we have.”

I have a feeling these stories are gonna be amazing.

      • If they did, most likely the entire game would be 3D considering what the Z axis is. But I don’t know how it would tie into the story they are hinting at.

B/W focused more on the differences of people’s opinions…truth and ideals conflicting, Team Plasma abusing people’s emotions, what was ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, black and white thinking. X and Y seem more…3-dimensional (hah c wat i did thr), diving deeper into the thoughts and emotions of creatures. Interesting.

Xerneas also seems to represent eternity, while Yvetal destruction. Perhaps Team Flare do desire eternal youth? Or maybe they want to destroy all that they deem unworthy?

        Or both?

        • I have been thinking about it and those two ideas are probably the most accurate.

From what we’ve seen so far with Team Flare they originally want money, probably as a means to an end.

We know they are scientists, again money could be funding some machine they are trying to make. Aswell as that fact that they have cybernetic goggle things lol

I think they could be trying to harness the power of the two Pokemon and using it on the Kalos Region.

And if you see in the Anime trailer with the Garchomp, it is going around destroying things randomly AND has a red ring around its neck. Now I dunno if Garchomp have this normally but it may be the work of Team Flare; sending Pokemon on rampages in places they see unfit to be in a “Perfect World” ?

  4. I’m not sure if anyone else saw this yet..but I’ll put it here anyways.

“Update (11:30 AM): With thanks to KurowaSan for the translation, an interview with Eurogamer has revealed that there will be a greater variety of wild Pokemon in the grass. The idea is that each time you enter tall grass, they want you to find a different Pokemon. Also, depending on the color of the flowers in the tall grass, the ratio of the Pokemon encounters and their types are different. Masuda also stated that there might be an easier way to obtain Shiny Pokemon, while Yoshida said that they wanted to make a Shiny Pokemon’s color stand out more.”

    • Ha, and Tyrantrum was probably added either today or a week ago. Imagine what’ll happen in a week if they reveal someone even more cool than the guys on your list… You’ll have some real problems!

I for one haven’t planned anything besides my X team having Chespin, Charizard (one of my favorite Pokemon of all time) and Litleo (I love Lion King) and the Y one having Fennekin. Planning too much will spoil it!

    • The worst is going to be the last few days before X and Y’s release. I had a nightmare last night that I fell asleep to long and all the copies of X and Y were sold out even though I pre-ordered them and my internet was out so I couldn’t look up stuff on it.

      • I’m so paranoid when it comes to preorders. I’m just expecting to go to Gamestop next week and see that they don’t have my Pokemon 3DS xl in stock. I’m even thinking waiting till after 10 am to leave campus just so that I can call ahead of time to see if they’re in stock instead of wasting a 40 minute round trip on the bus instead of getting there when it opens. And now I’m afraid that Target won’t have my Y in stock when I get there at 8 am on the 12th. Fire Emblem Awakening ruined me!

        • No worries, big hits are almost always in stock at label retailers. I got my copy of Y paid off at GS and have yet to face one preorder that didn’t come out on release day there. But I HIGHLY recommend not to preorder these games at Newegg, as my initial order would have come on October 21st -o-. Everywhere else is fine.

        • Yeah but I think Intelligent Studios never expected FE Awekning to be so popular so they made fewer shipments. I’m pretty sure GF expects X and Y to be extremely popular so it might be less likely to sell out.

          • That’s true- I’ve just never pre-ordered from Target before… I’ve always pre-ordered Gamestop and they’ve always been great.

      • I have similar fear that my preorder will arrive 3 days late! If it is late, I’m just going to go out to the nearest store and buy it!

  5. So the starters aren’t going to get Mega Evolutions…

We are getting Kanto starters first instead of the Kalos starters!? WUUT!?
My first Pokemon from Gen 6/X & Y isn’t going to be Chespin…
