Battling is a core part of the main Pokémon RPG series and Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will support a range of online options to face off against friends and strangers alike.
In Scarlet and Violet, you can access battling features through the Battle Stadium. Its features should be familiar to those who used the Battle Stadium in Generation VIII’s Sword or Shield. It also brings back the Rental Teams feature which allows you to rent a premade team or submit a Battle Team of your own to allow other players to use.
Reminder: Online play in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including the Battle Stadium, requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Casual Battles
If you’re looking for a simple way to battle, the Casual Battles option allows you to battle others without affecting rankings and no restrictions on the Pokémon which can be used.
Ranked Battles
The Ranked Battles of Scarlet and Violet are expected to be similar to those of Pokémon Sword and Shield. Once again, players will compete to raise their score and ranking to reach the top-most tier, the Master Ball Tier, during each season.
Online Competitions
There are two types of online competitions that have been announced for Scarlet and Violet:

- Friendly Competitions will allow you to create your own online competition or join someone else’s
