CoroCoro and SPP Confirm New MegaEvolutions

The November issue of CoroCoro has leaked and officially revealed/confirmed some Mega Evolutions, the starter’s final evolutions, and more!

Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Gengar – Not an exclusive, gains the ability Shadow Tag but keeps its typing
  • Mega Aggron – Exclusive to Y, becomes pure Steel-type and gains the ability Filter
  • Mega Tyranitar – Exclusive to X and keeps the ability Sand Storm as well as its original typing

 Garchomp Serial Code

In next month’s issue of CoroCoro there’ll be a serial code that will give you access to their special Garchomp. This Garchomp holds a Dragon Fang, knows Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig and Draco Meteor. The location of its Mega Stone will also be revealed in the next issue – that is, if we don’t find it first.

UPD: New Mega Evolutions

Thanks to Serebii we now have some new information and pictures of previously unknown evolutions. Details in the spoiler box.

[spoiler]

  • Mega Pinsir – Bug/Flying-type and has the ability Aerilate which turns Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, X exclusive
  • Mega Heracross – Stays Bug/Fighting, has the ability Skill Link, Y exclusive
  • Mega Banette – Stays pure Ghost-type and has the ability Prankster
  • Mega Medicham – Stays Fighting/Psychic and has the ability Pure power

Apparently at some point in the game Professor Sycamore will upgrade your Mega Ring so that it can detect hidden Mega Stones. They are only detectable, however, between 8pm and 9pm.

  1. Is anyone else thinking theres a new way to get shinies? I’ve seen a lot of new shinies and I must admit they look real, and they have multiple sources. I hope there is because I want atleast one shiny on my team.

  3. Here’s something to think about:

Christopher Columbus found land on the 12th of October. We are going to find land on the 12 of October as well! 😀

Anyway, this issue leaked so early! (5 days)

The official art makes them look even better!
Guess I’m getting Mega Aggron! 😀

  4. Here’s a quick opinion/analysis on these Megas:

Tyranitar looks beast. I like the way he gets those tentacle-spike-wings-thingies and looks much bulkier and powerful. His chest/belly looks like a mean, menaning face, too, and I like it! His tail also gets bigger and is more menacing too. Imagine being Dragon Tail’d by that thing! HURTS!
I also noticed most megas get more extreme details such as flames coming out of their wrists/mouth and spikes EVERYWHERE! I like it.

    Now Aggron’s a interesting one.
He always gave me the idea of a strong, bulky, protected pokémon with that awesome Iron armor, but I always felt that his armor wasn’t really that…armor-ish(?).
With this Mega Evolution, though, his armor looks bigger, heavier, STRONGER, and also is in most parts of his body! His tail looks heavy and he gets horns on his arms, too! It looks like he has a shell now and his helmet is awesome! It appears he’ll be standing on four legs now, and that’s pretty…Weird? Can’t say I don’t like it, ’cause I do, but It’s a pretty nice touch to it. HEAVY ARMOOOOR!

    And finnally, Mega Gengar.
They pretty much changed all of his body, and I’d say it’s a new Pokémon if it wasn’t for that little prankster smile and red eyes.
I was expecting him to gain a Psychic Type due to the third eye on his forehead, but that’s not the case. I don’t know why, but those “spikes” pointing to the back and all give him a pretty “intense” feel, like a powerful energy flowing through all of him, looks pretty dynamic and stuff. I also like the way that Sugimori drew his eyes different, they look full of power and overflowing with excitement somehow. That red lighting, have no Idea why it’s there, but it looks pretty cool and also gives me the idea of him being pretty dynamic, full of energy, intense.
I also like the fact that he’s coming out of the floor, like a Shadow.

    I NEED THEM NOW!

  5. My theory is that they left many new pokemon unevolved this generation so they can give us a slew of new past gen evolutions for generation 7. That’s the only possible thing that can explain why pokemon like heliolisk don’t evolve any further. I thought helioptile would transform into a beast! Kinda like what they did with horsea and sedra

  6. You know, these offical art of the final evos are starting to grow on me.Hard to believe it, but it’s true. They all look pretty neat, Greninja being my favorite. And those new mega evos look sick as hell! 2 more days guys, my heart can’t take this much excitement!
