CoroCoro and SPP Confirm New MegaEvolutions

The November issue of CoroCoro has leaked and officially revealed/confirmed some Mega Evolutions, the starter’s final evolutions, and more!

Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Gengar – Not an exclusive, gains the ability Shadow Tag but keeps its typing
  • Mega Aggron – Exclusive to Y, becomes pure Steel-type and gains the ability Filter
  • Mega Tyranitar – Exclusive to X and keeps the ability Sand Storm as well as its original typing

 Garchomp Serial Code

In next month’s issue of CoroCoro there’ll be a serial code that will give you access to their special Garchomp. This Garchomp holds a Dragon Fang, knows Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig and Draco Meteor. The location of its Mega Stone will also be revealed in the next issue – that is, if we don’t find it first.

UPD: New Mega Evolutions

Thanks to Serebii we now have some new information and pictures of previously unknown evolutions. Details in the spoiler box.

[spoiler]

  • Mega Pinsir – Bug/Flying-type and has the ability Aerilate which turns Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, X exclusive
  • Mega Heracross – Stays Bug/Fighting, has the ability Skill Link, Y exclusive
  • Mega Banette – Stays pure Ghost-type and has the ability Prankster
  • Mega Medicham – Stays Fighting/Psychic and has the ability Pure power

Apparently at some point in the game Professor Sycamore will upgrade your Mega Ring so that it can detect hidden Mega Stones. They are only detectable, however, between 8pm and 9pm.

  1. Those official arts of the starters are awesome! I loved all 3 from the beginning but was least fond of Delphox. Now, she’s right next to the other two for me!

  2. I think I like their design-norm for some mega-evolutions, which is random wing-like things going out of the body. It may seem bland to see same thing in most of them but I love how there is a certain style like how they gain those things when they have their full-potential. It’s something like some psychic types having gems. You know what I mean.

  4. Oh my god I need both versions!
    I already wanted them but
    MEGA TYRANITAR!

Are they LITERALLY exclusives or their MEGA STONES can only be found in the different games?

    • If you are getting Y, I can help you out, but I can’t give Mega Charizardite X, reserved that for a friend of mine in exchange for a treecko.

    • I want to know how all these people are getting shinies. Is it possible through Pokemon-Amie? These are the things I want to know.

    • This looks a tad fake to me. There’s a splotch of light blue on the upper right leg that seems out of place. I do like the colors though. But if this is legit, I wish the owner had taken photos of Froakie and Frogadier as well.

    • “Can you please explain to me how you think the shiny Greninja is fake?”

A question i was asked on tumblr after saying that it looks fake. Here is my reasoning.

Because it looks like a poorly edited screenshot to me. The fact that it changes two of his colors, (the pale yellow, and the blue) into the exact same black seems off to me, and has never been done in a shiny (making two separate colors the same one that is.) Also along the same lines is that the white on his body and the lighter blue on the back of his head do not even change color and seeing as how dramatic the other color change is that also seems off. Another reason is that in his tongue scarf there is literally no shading and when you get closer to the top edge of the black line of his sprite you can see thin lines of the original pink that is his normal tongue color. The tongue look as though it was poorly colored over using a photo editing software hence the lack of shading and the colors not going all the way to the lines.. The color scheme is also quite awful and poorly thrown together. Is that enough reasons?

      • Yeah, I think this is fake too. Though they did change two colors to the same color at least twice. Shiny Magnemite’s (and Magneton’s) magnet tips become the same color as the magnet itself. Still, what you say about the tongue definitely sounds like a good point. Faaaake.

  6. Gengar continues to look like it is not levitating. But, oh, ground moves can hit beedril, venomoth, and dustox…
    Minor complaint!

  7. Serebii says Tyranitar is exclusive to Y and Aggron is exclusive to X, however i’m now hearing that the Tyranite(?) can only be found in X and the Aggronite(?) can only be found in Y. Have Gamefeak just trolled us, or has someone made a mistake?
