RUMOR: Images Show Final Froakie, Chespin Evolutions & New Pokémon

These are not necessarily real images, their authenticity has not been established. Please do NOT treat this as a news post, instead enjoy commenting & speculating. We will update you if any details come out to (dis)prove any of this.

We’ve marked the main image warning of Pokémon X & Y spoilers so we won’t be hiding images in these posts.

The pictures above purport to be from a review copy of Pokémon X. As you can see, they claim that this is the final evolution of Froakie, Greninja, and a new Flying/Fighting-type Pokémon called Hawlucha. The latter Pokémon also has a new Fighting-type attack called Flying Press.

UPD2: A new image has surfaced claiming to show the final evolution of Chespin from behind. This is from a different person than the person who posted Greninja & Hawlucha. UPD: Confirmed fake

The poster also mentioned that XP is also much easier to earn and that entire parties will get some from battles with the use of EXP Share, a key item found early in the game. He also mentioned that XY only introduce around 70 new Pokémon. He also said that there barely is any endgame, with you only being able to catch Mewtwo and the Z legendary.

UPD1: A new Pokémon has supposedly been photographed. No other details are currently known. Remember, we do not know if these Pokémon are real or fake, so please don’t consider them as either until they are proven one or the other.

UPD3: We broke the site record for most visits in one day! Also, be wary of all the ‘leaks’ out there, there are so much (blatant) fakes going around that the legit leaks may get lost in it!

Looking forward to reading your comments!

  1. did anyone else realize in the picture of greninja it shows a masterball on the left. Wonder wat he used that for. I used my first masterball on a tailow and i wasn’t so smart back then…

  2. There are several reasons why this is obviously fake: no bottom screens, lake of the bubbles on froakies evolution, it says hawlucha is holding an item called “Belt” not “expert belt”. Just. Belt. Also, the fact that no self respecting professional would go against nintendo’s wishes and risk their job just to leak a starter final evo. Also, there is no way it’s final evo won’t have part of its name having something to do with frogs in it

    Reply
        • well the word belt if analyse the image starts around the same pixels as the pokeball of the selected pokémon is so if you compare the positioning with froakies supposed evo it should have something written before belt

          Reply
          • Not really. If you compare Hawlucha’s pic with Greninja’s pic, you’ll see that there’s enough space to add “Black” before “belt.”

          • I thought about that but it might just be from the image that we are being disieved If you look at it Mysterious is a much bigger word than black and water starts just a little ahead of belt

    • Who said this was taken by a professional?
Who even said they respect themselves? They’re doing this for us!
THIS… is the knight in shining IDGAF armor we’ve all been waiting for!! >:D

      • The only people who have the games now are professional game reviewers. Nintendo is taking this very seriously. I’m so sure that they won’t reveal the starters evos because Nintendo wants the players to feel like this is red and blue all over again. We all want the starters cuz we are used to the game coming out in japan 6 months or more before they come out internationally and by then we could plan out our entire team. We all need to just sit back and stop trying to ruin the experience of newness for ourselves. Don’t plan your team, don’t search the internet far and wide for “leaked starter evos”, don’t spoil yourselves past what has been officially revealed. You’ll enjoy the game much more. For me, I’m actually going to write my own pen and paper Pokedex for use in second and third etc. playthroughs

    • I agree. I think someone is making these fakes just to stir up convo before release. Plus, that Froakie evo looks so terrible. I guess I can only hope

  3. Froakie evolution seems really fake to me:

    1. Bubble Frog Pokemon loses all his bubbles.
Yes that does sometimes happen, but it seems like a really strange design decision to replace his bubbles with a tongue. Especially with his pre- evos never even showing their tongues.

    2. The eyes changed their color from yellow iris to white iris. Why would they keep them the same for 2 evolutions only to change them?

    3. His head looks almost like a piece of origami. I don’t see how this would relate to either hi name or his typing.

    • Hi. How long have you’ve been playing Pokimans sir/madame?
I’ve been around since Red & Blue and know for a fact that ANYTHING
is possible when it comes to evolution.
Didn’t ya know? Game Freak enjoys the tears of its complainers. Oishi!

    • For as much as it might hurt me to say I have to disagree with you because what you pointed out when it comes to pokemon evolving doesn’t mean a thing, they can stray very far from the evolution that precedes. It’s not that I don’t like the design but I was hoping for a different froagie I guess, but the images do seem very real

      Reply
      • So what are you basing your opinion on?
It’s not that hard in this day and age to fake a screen especially in this poor quality.

They have done some weird transitions in the last gen but usually starters have a very clear and logical progression and I can’t see that progresion in this final evolution at all.

        Reply
        • no you’re right it’s not hard but you have to agree they seem compellingly real do yes the quality of the imagery is poor, but you just have to search in the comments and several people have given examples of pokemons that lost there ‘trademark’ threw evolution. And yet I said it and I’ll repeat it, tough I don’t dislike the design I was expecting a different evo even for a ninja.

          • It doesn’t even look like a ninja to me it looks more like an airplane pilot.

I mean the ones during WW1 with that typical flying goggles and the scarf.

  4. I dont get it!!! 🙁 what does it mean any endgame?! It sounds stupid omg!!! Why the best game ever of pokemon doesnt have endgame!? Please i want ot to be fake!!! But could anybody tell me what does that mean?!

    Reply
    • that would make a lot of people happy. I was waiting for a game where every pokemon is obtainiable without having to trade from your gamboy to your ds to your 3ds to your 2ds to your wii to your xbox and so on

      Reply
    • Maybe pokemon is full of pokon and they can put more because they dont have a lot of memory for it!! But please pokemon need to make more pokemon :;(

      Reply
    • yeah because it said somewhere in a review that a lot of old pokemon are returning, one even claimed that all of the previous pokemon will be in the game

      Reply
    • I don’t think they would ever put the entire Pokedex in a game. Connecting to other players (starting with the cable link in gameboy) has always been an integral part of Pokemon…also it would make the PokeTransfer system pointless and we already know that there are version exclusives so we know there won’t be EVERY pokemon in-game

      Reply
      • maybe there would still be version exclusives like mawile in x and sableye in y and all of the other exclusive will be split between the two games

  6. Look real to me. I’d be really disappointed if that was Froakie final evolution. But hey, they’re giving us the Kanto starter and Torchic for a reason you know.

  7. Well actually, around 70-80 new Pokemon this Gen sounds plausible.
Remember when someone checked the source coding of the japanese movie site and saw Mewtwo’s picture file name under “Mewtwo X” and people began thinking it would have two forms X and Y, all that turned out to be true.

Now recently Nintendo have said they are going back to promoting the tag line “GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!” Now if you go to “Gottacatchemall.com” the website with the little pokeball prize games, one of the codes you enter is called “XY738A”

or in other words : ” X and Y, 738 total Pokemon, Version A”. I will explain what I mean by version A. Firstly, if there was a total of 738 pokemon, that would mean X and Y are introducing to us 89 Pokemon which sounds like a good estimation to the leakers “70 new Pokemon”.

I think X and Y will be the the (1 of 2) set of games for 6th Gen. I believe that the “A” in “XY738A” is a hint that we will be receiving a “B” half with another 50-60 Pokemon to complete 6th Gen around sometime next year dubbed as Gen 6.5.

    • To be honest, I just think that’s random code. To date, gen 2 has released the least amount of Pokemon and that was 100. To suddenly have a gen with that much less than a 100 would be a bad move BUSINESS wise and let’s remember that at the end of the day GameFreak and Nintendo are business. Also, with an established franchise like Pokemon, there is no way a company would take risks like releasing an A version with 70 pokes and a B version with only 50 new pokes (why buy A version at all etc)

      Reply
      • I don’t think its a random code. Nintendo/Gamefreak like to link up there dates/codes to match what there doing. If you look at the ID/OT of any Pokemon event on the handheld games like Black 2, it matches the release date of the event. For example, Shiny Palkia was released on September 9, 2013. If you look at its ID, its 09093. The ID number for Torchic event that comes with Blazikenite item is 10123 (correlates to October 12, 13).

Earlier this year, around January 1st or January 2nd, STRONG STRONG rumors were floating that a 6th Gen series was approaching and that a new Eeveelution would be revealed on January 8, 2013. That date would match up with

        01/08/13 = 1 Eevee, 8 Evolutions, 13th Main Series Games

when that date came, it seemed like Nintendo knew what the fans were expected, so they did something different and instead revealed the Starters/Legendaries instead of a new eevulution. INSTEAD, Sylveon was postponed until a week and a half later – mid-jan.

All I’m saying is I think XY738A means something and isn’t just a random code like the rest of the codes.

  8. If this is like BW where you HAVE to catch the Legendary in order to proceed, I pity those who are picking up Y, especially if you use your newly caught Yveltal to fight a Xerneas with a type advantage 😛

    Reply
      • Not really…
I mean, in 2nd gen, Ho-oh and Lugia didn’t have type advantages. There was a type advantage in 3rd gen, but Palkia and Dialga didn’t have a one-sided type advantage (since they’re both part Dragon type). And in fifth gen, Reshiram and Zekrom didn’t have a one-sided type advantage. They both shared Dragon, but Electric and Fire are both not very effective to Dragon types.
Whereas, Xerneas is Fairy type, which has the advantage over Yveltal, who is Dark/Flying. Just judging by typing, Yveltal is at a significant disadvantage.

  9. also I like the name “Frogue” better. “Greninja” doesn’t have a reference to the word “frog” anywhere, which really screams fake to me.

    Reply
  10. The name for Froakie’s final evolution seems very possible. It seems to be a mix of grenouille and ninja. ( grenouille means frog in French ) this makes a lot of sense because the Kalos region is based off of France.

    Reply
    • And now I know. I wasn’t sure where the “Gre” part of the name came from. But yeah, Kalos focusing on French is why I keep predicting “Poissonous” for the name of whatever Skrelp evolves into. “Poisson” (French for fish) + “poisonous”.

  11. Im getting slowly sad because of all this speculation and rumors, and barely no post game is really a downer….but adding Super Sayians to pokemon is amazing i guess!

  12. Only 70 New Pokemon… With 40 revealed so far, let’s do some math…

+3 (Starter’s Evos), +2 (Spritzee and Swirlix Evos), +2 (Clauncher and Skrelp Evos), + 1 (Helioptile Evo), +1 (Noivern relation), +1 (Flebebe relations), +1 (Orotto Relation), +2 (Bunnelby and Denenne evolutions), +1 (Meowstic Relation), +1 (Furfrou Relation) = ~15 New ones based on Pokemon we already know. I’m not saying that all of these will get evolutions or babies (Noivern and Furfrou are debatable), but it’s just an estimate.

That means that there’s only be 15 unrelated Pokemon when the game actually comes out? That’s hardly enough for 5 3-stage evolutions. And add Legendaries, that really only leaves room for roughly 3 new Pokemon lines being introduced. I’m not buying this rumor.

    Reply
    • Same. Hell, it was due to that I was thinking even 100 seemed low because that would still be about half the Pokemon revealed, so I was thinking maybe 120 sounds more reasonable. But 70? I don’t think Gamefreak EVER came close to revealing THREE FOURTHS of the Pokedex before the game came out.

      Reply
      • Exactly.I’d be fine with 100 personally, because that leaves 45 Pokemon we haven’t seen anything about yet, so ~10-14 new evolutionary lines and a few legendaries. I do agree that 120 is an ideal number to shoot for. That was roughly what DP had, and that game felt like it had a good balance between old and new.

    • I wholeheartedly agree with you (thank you for doing the math by the way). Besides, I don’t have the source, but I remember they said that the # cap would exceed 750.

          • no fighting types, admittedly though. But after Psychic, the second most type to have it is FIRE, so it’s not likely there is much of a pattern, things just kind of get it.

          • Not to mention, there are other Fighting-types that learn Psychic moves, and I’m not just talking Meditite, Medicham, and Gallade, either. Riolu learns Zen Headbutt. Lucario learns Psychic and Zen Headbutt. Poliwrath learns Psychic. Scraggy, Scrafty, and the legendary goats learn Zen Headbutt. Hell, Extrasensory used to be exclusive to Nuzleaf, of all things!

          • Just to be the devil’s advocate, Lucario is associated with Aura (or Pokemon’s version of The Force), Poliwrath is based on hypnotism, and Scraggy is big into headbutting things so they gave him all the headbutting moves.

However, Nuzleaf is just weird 😛

I will say that it seems like an odd move on Greninja. I get that ninja’s are mysterious, but its reasoning for getting a Psychic move via Level up doesn’t seem as solid as the other guys. Sure, Cyndaquil gets Extrasensory, but it’s an Egg Move and meant to be odd.

  13. I was promising myself to stay away from the leaks, but I caved in LOL.

I don’t understand how anyone can think that image of Frogadier’s evolution is real when the summary shows it came in a Great Ball. Starters come in Pokeball’s not great balls.

The Froakie evo looks cool too.
