[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

I think this might be a 4th evolution they not directly calling it that but we’ll just have to wait
Can’t be considered a 4th evolution if they only evolve into their mega forms during battle.

Thanks haha 😛 I have to admit, gen 1 is still the best gen of pokemon for me (on the whole), but gen 3 were probably my favourite games. I like all of x and y so far, I am glad they are changing it somewhat 🙂

I love the megas but only one thing… No mega ZUBATS cuz they’re zubats and already stand 4’07 tall

Clearly no one could make a fake corocoro cover… (sarcasm). Come one guys, it’s a little too early for a real leak, and serebii has made mistakes in the past (remember football-fish and koala-pansage?). Besides, mega absol’s image has bits on multiple scans, so in various areas of a same page. How is that possible?
Mega-evolving pokemon like Absol or Mawile makes no sense).

It seems my love of pokemon is more fragile than I thought, as I am reconsidering buying Y a little…
The only reason it’s early is because CoroCoro is being released early this month.
That is true! You would think they will release a evolution before that! They needed it! I will be still buying Y because I love PKMN <3. Yet, it is really early! I think this is the earliest a scan has leaked yet!

Haters, listen! Don’t forget that there are just SIX Mega Evolutions! How many Pokémon do we have again? About 750 after this generation. Don’t complain about it, just see it is a new form for certain Pokémon.
Some people might be hating because of this. Think, now torchic is now a more powerful starter option than the others.

Omg, I didn’t even think of mega blastoise, charizard and venusaur… And mega typhlosion! What would they look like? I hope so too. Do you think the gen 6 starters would?
I hope these Megavolutions are part of X&Y’s gimmick genetic altering storyline and we won’t see them anywhere ever.
One thing that irks me is I don’t understand how an item can be called “Blaziken Knight”. I don’t even understand the concept…
If the item makes the Pokemon evolve at its normal level, then how will Absol evolve into MegaAbsol if there is no “regular” Absol evolution? Does that make sense?
That’s what i’m trying to figure out…
Maybe Absol and Mawile get “regular” evolutions?

This change will be amazing, and will make trainers really OP, which can add to the overall difficulty of the game, and make it better and longer.
haha, me either, so i’m gonna try and be open minded about this… my first reaction was “oh no this looks really stupid”, but the idea has grown on me a bit and I’m going to keep waiting for more information. besides, new pokemon news is always exciting, I’m hoping that there’s still more left for us to see.
THEN GO HOME. The Pokemon world is always constantly changing, things from previous games like D/P/Pt/HG/SS had new features which you have now gotten used to.
How is this gonna hurt?
WHY he has to go home if he don’t like a thing in Pokemon. We’re not brainless creatures that appreciate and love everything. We have an ability to criticize and have an opinion about something. We’re human beings. Did he say I’m not playing Pokemon from now on? No. He just stated an opinion.
