[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

And a MegaJynx would be amazing!!!
I’m curious now if every pokemon will get a ‘mega-evo’
MEGAFROSLASS or DIE :DD
I love froslass! 🙂 That would be awesome 🙂
yeah it would 🙂 Imagine a badass like MegaYukimenoko just sweeping through the enemies :DD
I think it would be my new favourite 😉 <3
If this mega thing is true, it means the end of Pokemon for me..
the corocoro cover was revealed… its true
Don’t let one feature put you off, there’s still plenty to like about the games.
No please no. If its real mega absol has wings. Mega absol use fly can’t wait for this (sarcasm )
Absol looks amazing!
Well guys. Enjoy. 🙂

Serebii webmaster @JoeMerrick has confirmed that these leaks are 100% confirmed (well, Serebii confirmed)
https://twitter.com/JoeMerrick/status/365494977251393539
Hey guys a special torchic is the first event it holds something called a “blaziken knight” to go mega, also they’re something called a mega stone. 🙁 🙂
IS IT WORLDWIDE?
Serebii has shown picture of the cover. IT”S ALL TRUE!
If it is all real, it’ll be something we’ll all just have to get used to. We all may be hating now but pokemon is pokemon and I don’t plan on turning my back on it for any reason. Besides these mega things look incredible design-wise.
Nicely said, I’ll never turn my back on pokemon!!
your right me too
Yup Pokemon will always be the best game ever no matter what they do
and haters will hate but no one cares
Exactly. I’m slightly disappointed about the mega pokemon idea, but I’ll get used to it
incredible? yes megablaziken (but a fourth stage shouldnt have happened) mega lucario look great, but i am unimpressed by megamawile, ITS JUST GOT ANOTHER HEAD MOUTH THING and pink bits :(, megaabsol has an emo haircut and wings and megaamphiros just got a weave. i think it’s okay for us to not like what game freak decided to do, it’s almost unanimous and it’s all constructive criticism, not hate. sure we’ll get used to it, and i’ll certainly buy the game(maybe both), but i still think these mega god pokes were a mistake
Don’t expect constructive criticism to last when talking abut pokemon. Try to point out any error or inconsistencies and one immediately gets flamed harder than Team Flare.
they aent evolutions, they are forms that they can take during battle. So no fourth stage
MegaAmpharos is Electric/Dragon and has the ability Mold Breaker!
OMY….
It’s actually just beyond amazing. Ampharos is just a beast now its even better ! 😀
Nicely put. Too many people are judging it before we’ve even properly seen how it works and how it affects the game
but it became ridiculous with these mega forms
The new Gym Leader seems to be standing in a fighting ring. Fighting-Type Gym confirmed?
I will not believe it is real until Pokemon release a Trailer from there own company.
Hey look on the bright side guys, now they’re, they’re, NOOOOOOOOOOOO! (Crying)
noo
Confirmed to be true, due to CoroCoro’s cover showing Lucario + Mega-evo
Well no one seen that coming.
well it was the biggest scoop of the ‘century’ lol. i guess biggest pokemon news in a long long time
Its confirmed
i know i am bummed
Heheh… MegaYanmega
Or in romanized japanese MegaMegayanma
MegaMegayanma hahahaha
MegaMeganium
What if the original dragon is MegaKyurem
This news **** alot.. getting from 100% way down to 40% or less..
It’s amazing how many people are freaking out over this when we barely know anything about how it works.
Exactly people shouldn’t be so quick to judge 🙂
You kidding? This is the Pokemon fanbase we are talking about. We are a highly reactionary bunch. Look at past reveals, Newtwo*or Mega Mewtwo* Sylveon and the growing realization we were going to be getting a new Type in Fairy. Thankfully we tend to mellow out after awhile.
so are these pseudo evolutions 4th stage or alt forms???
IDK. We don’t know yet!
My guess is somewhere between the two.
alt forms, which utilise something called ‘mega stone’
I want Pokemon’s youtube channel to upload a new trailer explaining how this is supposed to work.
Me Too. Until then I think it is fake.
Ditto c:
The cover of corocoro has been uploaded by the leaker.

Also, a trademark application for “Mega Evolution” was made back in April.
So this isn’t confirmed yet, just leaked?
Not confirmed, but I’m pretty sure it’s real.
many will hate this mega evolution but after awhile people will realize it not going anywhere and get use to in a year or so like many big changes in pokemon
I’m still playing x and y no matter what. Hey maybe theirs a mega archeus. That will be the most op Pokemon ever known
Site’s getting hammered. We have trouble updating. We’ll do our best though.
Keep calm and don’t go hating Pokémon!
I could never hate Pokemon. 🙂
i wasnt expecting this but i think im getting used to it and actually starting to like it. Mega ampharos… Hmmm
Me too 😀 when they mentioned the items it just clicked. I love it now !!
You sir are a TRUE Pokemon fan. My hat is off to you 🙂
Ya you guys take your time on getting the updates. the site is so over loaded at this point its hard to load, but I’ll keep coming back! lol
I’m naming my torchic PJ-Knight for this website!
