[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.

New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

i like the look of the mega pokemon and i think that they could be good for the game if game freak does it right but they could also do it wrong. there is nothing in these scans that say fake. so i really do think that some people needs to stop being in denial. that way when the official site update with this you won’t be to mad

There’s two things I’m looking for info on:
1 Where it says Ampharos has Mold Breaker. (It’s not visibile in the present photos)
2 Where it says that Mega Evolutions are only and ONLY accessible in battle
I looked at the guy’s Twitter and found the thing where Ampharos is Electric/Dragon,
and the thing where Mega Evolution is a new battle tactic. I can’t be sure it’s only for in battle even though it kinda seems so.

And, changing form during battle even if it stays like that afterwards… I guess you could, say, change MegaAmpharos to Ampharos to avoid super effective Dragon damage or something. Sort of like switching out.

Imagine if this was all fake. The bastard who made this stuff would sure be getting a laugh. Everyone in the fandom is going bananas. I personally am still suspicious about all of this. Seems like a complete fan service but then again, XY is based on genetics and this sounds like something Game Freak would do as of late. I’m personally glad they made the Mega Pokemon optional with the stones and simply alternate, short term powered up versions of Pokemon instead of full fledged evolutions. But it kinda bugs me because Mega Mawile could of easily been a regular evolution for Mawile. Oh well, at least it’s something…

Yeah, as soon as I saw her I thought Fighting type! The colour of her background and her stance are quite good clues
She looks like a roller skater, so I’d say either Fighting or maybe even Steel type. I don’t think she is gonna be a Megamon specialist. All Gym Leaders as of Generation V have outside hobbies and this Gym Leader’s outside hobby could be Megamon. It says she knows about them, not that she specializes in them. There were also no shots shown of her using one.
Pokebeach leaks said there was a fighting gym quite early on didn’t it?
Could be Grant who specializes in Fighting types. He looks like a midway Gym Leader in the game to me.

Now that i looked at this scan for awhile now, something about it is just rubbing me the wrong way. looks leget and the design of the mega evolutions look nice, but… i just dont know… how is this gunna work for other pokemon? maybe nintendo and gamefreak r gunna release these ”mega items” as DLC so pokemon wont become so OP. i mean.. Absol with magic bounce? That will just kill someone in competitive play.

I would be so sad if the cute bunny, hamster, and Gogoat pre-evolution were fake and I’m sure tons of fans would oddly be upset about the Megamon concept being fake. I’m surprised people are reacting to this well. Lol. I honestly expected the opposite.

Now that you bring this up, it looks quite familiar to fake scans from the past. But apparently, Lucario’s Megamon evolution was on the CoroCoro cover. But that CoroCoro cover may have been faked. Who knows. We won’t know until the 12th of August or so when Game Freak/Nintendo officially announces it.

I love the Bunny, Hamster, and Gogoat pre-evolution. I am still getting used to the idea of Megamons. But personally glad they’re restricted to just battle and formes that temporarily power up instead of actual Pokemon. The designs for MegaLucario and MegaMawile I particularly like the best. Still iffy on the entire concept and how it will work.

Also, MegaMewtwo. I thought Mewtwo was just getting a form! That’s what Pokemon said. Nothing was brought up about Mega Pokemon. Also, people are saying the term “Mega Pokemon” was registered before. They don’t know if some random person or Pokemon registered it. Still, I don’t want Mega Pokemon! If there real I can deal with it!
Nonetheless, wouldn’t mind the Megamon concept being thrown out if this was fake. Seems a little overdone. We honestly have to wait and see. Evidence in my opinion can go in either direction. The Gogoat pre-evolution looks like the fanmade one a while back and the Megamon concept and the Pokemon that use it such as Lucario seems almost too good to be true. Because that is some actual sort of evolution. The pokémon changes its forme to something different, yet similar to it, but more powerful. It’s an evolution, but not perm.

I saw an interesting argument someone made that when translated to English, the “mega form” will be translated to “awakened form” like the Mewtwo form. In other words, Awakened Blaziken, Awakened Lucario, etc.

I think I got it guys! I was thinking about it while I was mowing the lawn, running some ideas through my head. And while I liked them right off the bat, I will admit, these formes seem somewhat ‘artificial.’ And then it hit me. Colress. What was he trying to do? And in the anime, was showed to actually somewhat do? *Bulbapedia* His goal is to discover the true way to draw out the strength of Pokémon. So, what does this mean? I think he FOUND OUT how to do it. Yeah, he saw some of the errors of his ways in Pokemon BlackWhite 2. But, he may not have stopped trying to find out how to do it. He just included the idea of the bond between trainer and Pokemon, and utilized that in his research to accomplish his goals! Maybe even Pokemonami or whatever it’s called will be linked to the Megamon. Not to mention, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen people artifically alter pokemon to draw more power out. Shadow Pokemon. Anyways, that’s my theory.

Even why I think this is considered an evolution instead of a forme change. Because, up til now, forme changes are based on their altering their abilities, being fundamentally the same thing, just with a different focus. Evolution, on the other hand, is an upgrade, with stats being increased, and like that. Only two Pokemon come to mind with forme changes that do not work like this, and that is Kyurem and Rotom. And even, then, they operate under different rules, because they aren’t just changing forms, they are basically adding something to themselves to alter their current state, in Kyurem’s case it absorbs Zekrom or Reshiram, Rotom an appliance. I presume then we could count on that these Mega Evolutions would be temporary bursts of power that WOULD ‘evolve’ the Pokemon in a sense, artifically, so that should mean whatever gets a forme change should be buffed somehow. If they don’t do all that, then I don’t really know XD. But, I do remember at one point they had a random NPC talk about looking into the dreams of Pokemon, and that happened later… At the very least, that’s what it seems most like to me.
Dude, I love this theory. Like, really. Also, I think this might work a lot differently from evolutions. Remember how mewtwo changed into his/her Mega Form? It sort of exploded, knocked over a car. Maybe at a certain point you can upgrade your pokemon in a way, then, in battle, when certain criteria is met, they’ll suddenly receive a huge surge of power and go Mega (ie; Ampharos gets hit by a dragon-type move and goes below 50% HP, then BOOM, MegaAmpharos).
This alone could add a whole new level of strategy to competitive battling, too.
Still don’t think these are legit. They could just slap a trademark on it for authenticity to cause everyone to lose their minds. However I do recall Masuda stating that “more forms and fusions will be added in the future”. Hm…
I don’t recall Masuda saying that! It might have been a bit ago. Yet, I think the Mega Pokemon are a bit fake. I will admit the Mega Pokemon designs are amazing! Yet, just how it was introduced. Pokemon said Mewtwo will just get a form, now its a Mega Pokemon. I don’t see that working. I just can’t wait for the 12th. I really want all of this info to be straightened out! Hopefully Mega Pokemon are fake. Yet, I would say if there real I could get used to them!
I like the designs also, but it seems to be too big of a jump. And I actually think it was on a Q&A on twitter back before BW2 were released. He tweets most things in Japanese so I translated a lot in my twitter days. However if I find it again or come across it, I post it.

If this information is confirmed to be fake, I will be semi-happy, because this is a great addition to the Pokemon universe and will open up a new world of battling. However, the designs are a little weird, as they seem like they took an awesome Pokemon, entered it in the Pokemon Musicals (but instead of cute, ferocious designs) and then there you have it. It does seem a little wierd that the other forms are not as clear as MegaMewtwo, and it is also a little weird how CoroCoro could leak so early, which hadn’t really happened in the past. Why would you delete your own tweets? Why would you only leak a few pages rather than all at once to answer all of the questions swimming around in our heads? Why? Anyways, I love Megamon and I am all for them, but they need to improve the designs majorly. MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario and MegaAbsol are my favorites, with MegaAmpharos, MegaBlaziken and MegaMawile barely getting any changes. I love Megamon, again, but I don’t know about these Megamon. Maybe the theory is accurate, but not these designs. I just don’t know what to believe so I’m at crossroads here. I am taking this with a grain of salt, just like IAMTHELEAKER (NightSlash)’s rumors from a while ago, and the supposed new Eeveeluion and bag of chips/sushi Pokemon.

Not to spark anything, but mewtwo is based on a cat and embryo (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong), so I would quite include it in the list. On everything else, though, fully agreed. First gen was just as “randomly” based as any other; they just have the ability to produce more complicated designs on the better hardware.

I think this is the middle evolution of Fletchling. It’s probably a small bird with one of it’s feet raised up in the artwork or it could be positioned further up north on the other page than we think. We won’t know till a while from now…

Judging by the other stuff on the page it kinda looks like it might not even be pokemon.
I hate it when people are like “If you are a real pokémon fan you’ll have no right to criticize any decision gamefreak makes.”. As the time goes by, the employees have probably changed and so Pokémon has changed a lot. It’s not disrespectful to express our feelings politely.
That said, I was starting to like gen VI, but then Gamefreak hit me again. The games always were pretty unbalanced (type-wise AND stat-wise, specially considering the average stat growth implemented at almost all gens – obliterating most older pokémon). And now they’re handpicking some fan favorites (“cool pokémon”) and giving them even more power (c’mon, speed boost blaziken wasn’t uber enough?). I seriously doubt they’ll make mega versions for all pokémon.
What I get from all of this is that they don’t really give a damn about balancing the game; they just want to create a greater hype (“OMG, MY FAVORITE POKÉMON IS COOLER NOW”) in order to sell more copies. I’m not saying that it would be ideal if all pokémon had same Base Stat Totals, but there shouldn’t be such a chasm between some of them. I’m not saying “make all types strong”, but don’t force us to see the same pokémon types over and over in competitions.
I highly doubt these are the only ones to get new forms, just popular ones to show off the mechanic. Starters getting new forms is nice, hence blaziken. Most likely, it’s to help the power creep so that older pokemon can catch up and be useful again.

Apparently, Pokemon hold an item called Megastone to do the change and that the change, like you said, is temporary.
Yea! I think Pokemon may “nerf” it. Like it can be used only for 3 turns of a battle, because it is too much power for your Pokemon to handle. Or maybe they make it only be used like 5 times then it breaks! Something like that!

If it is temporary, how long the effect stands on? How to activate it? Do I Activate it when I want or when the pokémon enters the battle? So many questions…
Your Pokemon will hold a certain type of MegaStone. Then they will change the form in battle! It only last in battle! I also, have a lot of questions to be answered.
They’re okay. I’m personally really happy that the Megamon are restricted to just battling purposes and are forms and not actual evolutions of Pokemon. And you’re right, there is still a small chance that this may all be fake. Seems too good to be true in some parts. But again, the bunny and hamster and Mega Evolution names were trademarked which leads me to believe that this is real. But anyways, I think the designs are cool but am really confused with how the concept will work exactly.
MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario and MegaAbsol convince me.
MegaAmpharos, MegaBlaziken and MegaMawile don’t.
The theory convinces me, the description doesn’t.
The leak convinces me, but the day it was leaked on doesn’t.
The credibility: high. But the possibility of this being fake: also high.
Do I like them? Partially.
Do I like the designs? Not really.
If this is fake, will I be happy? Yes, and no.
If the theory is confirmed but new designs are in place, will I be happy? YES!
I think Mewtwo should just keep a form. Not a Mega. I want to see Absol and Mawile get evolutions not Megas. So, I;m not sold on Mega Pokemon like Serebii. (They think it is 100% real without Pokemon’s confirmation.) Still there designs are amazing!

With all of the well performed leaks nowadays, it’s so hard to believe anything anymore. The date is off.. it should of been a couple of days later… it seems weird to be this early.
Yea! August 8th is the earliest so far. Its usually a day or two before it is officially shown!
I remember scans were revealed for Black and White on the 9th once. This is still earlier than that!

Listen, lots of fakers are out here. They could have used the current design for a CoroCoro magazine and put MegaLucario on the front. Your argument doesn’t prove anything.

Really. It is so easy to make a fake scan. It’s not hard. Just follow the ways of CoroCoro and your done. It could be fan drawn. We don’t know if it is real or fake. Just because MegaLucario is on the cover doesn’t mean anything. Just Photoshop it there.

Last month’s CoroCoro leaked on the 10th. The trailer came on the 12th. Following that same pattern, probably the 10th, which is two days after.

I think 11th morning(in North America) is pretty possible. 12th most definitely, but I can see it coming earlier.
NLque stated that this leaker deleted some of his tweets, so not today. Probably in the coming days we will be getting the English confirmation and the HQ scans.

Oh wow. It’s gonna be interesting to see what comes out in the end. It would be so awkward if we got real CoroCoro scans two days later then have to throw this out. Lol. I agree. Megamons just seem “overdone” and a fan’s dream rather than an actual reality. Lucario and Absol and Mawile are popular Pokemon that people want to evolve…. Seems like a fan service to me, at best. But who knows until the official site updates.

Yeah, if they are fakes, they are probably the highest quality fakes we’ve ever seen, or at least in a LOOONG time. In a way though, I’m worried if this ISNT the Corocoro, then whatever we would get would be such a let down by comparison, just because this DOES feel like a big scoop, for good or ill.
If it is fake. The leaker will be commemorated for making a great fake that divided the Pokemon Community! Yet, everyone will hate him, but he did make a good topic to chat on!
I am rooting for fake! I love change, like the 3d models, rideable pokemon, rollerblades, fairy type, all of the new pokemon, mewtwo forme, ect. I am just not fond of the superulitmatemega-supersaiyangod mumbo jumbo. I am not going to say it’s fake or not. It’s unconfirmed. For now, I am just hoping for fake!

If they are fake, then I would have no choice but to applaud the fakers responsible. I mean, if this is fake, this fooled absolutely everybody. Everybody! Up to and including Serebii himself! If they are fake then wow. This MUST have been planned for quite sometime now. Imagine getting the REAL scans like tomorrow and all of this was fake LMAO. I would be sad (depending the info in the real corocoro) because this was awesome, I love these Pokemon. The Pokemon fandom has been <MASSIVELY trolled if fake.

Not really. The Corocoro itself is being released early on the 12th. We tend to get the leak about 4-5 days before hand, sometimes 3. This would be about the right time. Meaning if it is fake, that person KNEW about the usual time people expect these leaks to come out, and planned around it.
