September Corocoro Leaking! [UPD2]

[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.

[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.

This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!

On Mega Evolutions

  • “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
  • Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible  during battle.
  • A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
  • One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
  • Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
  • Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
  • Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.

Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:

  • Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
  • Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
  • Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
  • Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
  • Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
  • Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
  • Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.

More could be revealed!

New Pokémon, Miscellaneous

  •  Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
  •  Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
  • Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
  • Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.

Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

  1. I’m surprised no one has been bringing up what the new abilities are shaping up to be. Mega Absol getting Magic Bounce, adding yet another person to dissuade Stealth Rocks *I wonder if that’ll be a trend* Mega Mawile having Huge Power, meaning it’s likely to get a nice attack boost regardless of how the stats pan out. Then Lucario has Adaptability… Meaning 2x STAB, instead of 1.5. And coming off of something that’s actually dangerous, that is simply brutal.

  2. I am actually really loving these but it is all a bit Digimon remeniscant…

Like when you thought MetalGreymon was amazing then suddenly “Agumon WARP digivolve” (screen breaks) WHAT?!? W..War Greymon?

I mean someone that doesnt read into the news and leaks is gonna freak when their Blaziken suddenly evolves mid battle lol

    • Its is Very Digimon-esk.. No one can deny that now.. But I have Always Loved Digimon and Pokémon deserves to get a little crazy from time to time to haha, I am sure they will make Everything balanced

  3. Chou Badassu Modo confirmed.

Five of the new “Mega Evolutions” also appear to draw inspiration from one or more legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo resembles Mew due to the immense weight and height loss. Absol gains wings and appears to be influenced by Reshiram, note the initial Absol design having Yin and Yang as possible design element. The color change of Blaziken is reminiscent of Yveltal, while the new sideburns of Lucario look like the tentacles of the legendary Giratina. Ampharos’ new typing and ability can be interpreted as a parallel to Zekrom or even Reshiram. Mawile however, is … well … you know … inspired by …
    …
This is of course wacky speculation with little to no but likely not even near sufficient foundation. After initial rage over the name, i quickly remembered that “Mega” isn’t even present in the japanese Digimon evolutionary stage table – their pendant is instead called “Ultimate”. Then i got to appreciate this careful altered designs but now i am longing for the official explanation.

  4. I was doing some reading, and I found out something kind of interesting. Denryu, Ampharos japanese name. It basically means Electric Dragon. All this time. Getting the Dragon Type suddenly makes a lot of sense

  5. To be honest I kind of hope the other starters don’t get mega forms unless they don’t count as new pokemon because that would take up 17 new pokemon slots. Sure I would love a mega charizard as much as the next guy, but I would take new pokemon over more megas

  6. Just can’t wait for 4 days! I really want August 12 to come up! So we know if Mega Pokemon were the “Scoop of the Century” or if it was fake. I want to see a trailer and some confirmation. Also, Oorotto was not in the CoroCoro as I expected. Yet, hopefully it will be in the trailer! I can’t wait for that date! ;D What do you guys think about Mega Pokemon? I have mixed feelings about it! Yet, it’s starting to come to my good side! I might give it a try! 🙂

  7. As my head cools down on this matter, I must admit this still seems a bit fishy. The whole concept of mega-evolution, and the very pokemon chosen to illustrate it (mewtwo, blaziken), scream “fanboy’s dream come true”. Even now I’m getting use to the whole situation, my slowly waning wish that all this should be a hoax is turning into honest suspicion. We will know soon enough anyhow. If it is fake (which by now I can base on nothing more than an objective hunch), this will be the best hoax ever pulled off in the fandom…

Even if this does turn out true, I’ll never stop clamouring for lucario to get a proper evolution, and for Mawile and Absol’s megas to become available outside of battle. (If this is a hoax, these are the kind of evos I want).

Anyway, enough of the hunches and ranting, here are a few thoughts:
-if this is battle-only, that means they can make more megas for the remakes or sequel(s)… And block them from battling with or patch them into X/Y.

    – what seems to be an activation of pokémons genetic potential may be turned into a permanent evolution possibility if the sufficient technology is developped in the pokemon world… Who knows, maybeAbsol and Mawile’s megas can become evos in later games… Though it means saying hello to 4-stage lines and legendary evos.. And mayb e Alomomola was a secret MegaLuvdisc all along! I Solved it! MWAHAHAHA!
Hang on, if mega-evolution is human-induced, poké-ethics goes out of the window!
Wait till N hears of this!

As I end this comment, there is still a lingering feeling that this cannot possibly be true… Maybe I’m imagining what I want to. But you must admit that if you think of it objectively, this may all seem a bit too strange… However real it seems, it’s not impossible to fake. The chances of a hoax are as slim as they get, but think of it a bit and you will see that wether you like this change or not, this “big scoop” maybe a bit too “big” for comfort…

      • In his defense, nothing is proven true until the 12th. I don’t care if it’s so called “Serbii confirmed” or whatever, because last time I checked, Serebii is neither Corocoro nor Gamefreak.

        Reply
          • That means absolutely nothing. Corocoro covers are faked all the time as well. Until it hits store shelves on the 12th, it’s not official.

          • Oh, and no one can fake a cover? I know what I’m saying is, far-fetched, but you must admit there is always a possibility of this being false…

          • Also the names of the rabbit and fakachu were on a list of rumors that had the 14 names a while back.

          • Not going to be rude dude. But it is really easy to Photoshop a CoroCoro Cover Page. Just get a bunch of Japanese images. Also, it seems the Leaker didn’t show much and he also started to delete his tweets about Mega Pokemon too!

          • The leaker was getting really flamed and seemed genuinely upset so he took them down. I think he freaked out a bit which is understandable.

          • Maybe! Yet, that is a bit fishy. Still, I enjoy Mega Pokemon. Yet there not needed. Still its just a form change! This happened for Mewtwo too!

          • That’s true man 🙂 Guess we just have to wait for more scans. Hahah, I do hope its true, but personally I am 100% convinced. 😀

          • I’m 85% convinced! Until August 12 (IDK How many times I have said that lol ;D) when GameFreak releases info about the “Scoop of the Century” and if it is Mega Pokemon! Then I will believe it! 😀

          • The reason he deleted his tweets were because he couldn’t take the criticism of the Pokecommunity on twitter. Of course, that could just be a cover up, and he didn’t specifically say he deleted it because of criticism, but it does seem like this guy was just trying to share something he found with a few of his friends, only to be RT’d throughout twitter.

      • Not officially it hasn’t. There is an (ok incredibly slim )chance that this is all an elaborate hoax. Honestly “mega evolutions”? Doesn’t it feel a bit like a strange dream/fanboy wish come true?

        Reply
          • The Corocoro could have been faked, including the front page. I perfectly understand why you and the majority of people believe it’s true, because it does seem very legit, and I personally believe it’s probably true, but I nonetheless feel this whole thing is a bit strange. It’s perfectly in the realm of possibility for a (very skilled) faker to pull this off, but I agree this is more likely to be legit. I’m just not 100% sure.

    • I must agree with you in that had someone told me about this yesterday I wouldn’t have believed it even for a split second. Even after seing this undeniably Sugimori-artwork something still twings at the back of my head.
I’m coming to terms with it now, at first I freaked out big time.

  8. Mega Pokemon is still not 100% confirmed. We all have to wait till August 12 for GameFreak to release the “Scoop of the Century”. It might even be Mega Pokemon! We currently all don’t know! Yet, Mega Pokemon does seem a bit sketchy, mostly after the Leaker started to deleting his tweets. I’m still 50/50 on Mega Pokemon! Just wait till that date before everyone starts saying it is real or fake. ;D

  9. I tell you, the Gym Leader has Mega forms, but if she’s type specific, probably Steel types. Guessing her name will be Megan. (get it?)

  10. OMG what if just what if they havent shown orroto because gamefreak/nintendo is doing a thing where only the japanese get a certain pokemon and other regions/countries get other pokemon. That way people would trade which other regions/countries.

    Reply
    • They more than likely just haven’t announced it yet. Orroto wasn’t exactly given artwork and placed on a magazine in Japan either, it was just confirmed through a trailer.

  11. Stepping back from the Mega Pokemon (which I AM a fan of), I like the three Kalos Pokemon they’ve shown us.

Meekuru is perfectly cute, and so is Dedenne. It’s a gerbil-antenna!

It’s nice to see a new rabbit, too! Wasn’t Horubii one of those names that was tossed around a while back? When everyone was trying to guess what it was?

    Reply
    • Yup. Dedenne was too, but no one had found a good translation for it’s name apparently, so it wasn’t given much focus. Amusingly, Horubii was giving visions of a hornet like a mud dauber. Pretty sure a rather average looking bunny wasn’t high on that list, heh.

      Reply
    • I completely agree 😀 These Pokémon got pushed into the background a bit, but they have a great design, I said in an earlier comment that im guessing Dedenne will end up having an alternate Raichu evolution or be a Mega Raichu evolution. 🙂 I also really love the rabbit 😀

      Reply
      • Yea! Mega Pokemon took up the spotlight! Dedenne being Electric/Fairy seems interesting. ;D Also, Horubii seems like it will be the rodent of the Generation. Also, everyone knew Gogoat will be getting a Pre-Evolution it was easy to figure out!

        Reply
        • Haha yeah and Gogoat pre-evo was actually shown in the background in a screenshot before 😉 🙂 Which of the 3 is your favourite ? 😀

          Reply
    • Yeah i was just thinking the same thing… I hope this “Change” turns out okay…
It could make or break the entire game.

  12. I hope Dunsparce gets revealed next but I think there will be more mega Pokemon revealed because I remember something saying the professor will give you a Hoenn starters

    Reply
    • It’s logical to think there are more scans to show, whether they will show something new or not is unconfirmed. But you can tell there are more because the sides of these scans have screenshots that we can’t see on other pages.

  13. Sorry to disappoint but these mega Pokemon make no logical sense to me. This generation started of extremely strong, but this is killing it for me. X and Y would have been a flawless game had these mega Pokemon never been announced. Here’s to hoping this is all fake! I challenge ANYONE to give me a logical reasoning as to why this a thing.

    • they’re real and i don’t like them either! but we have no choice but to deal with it. say goodbye to a proper absol or mawile evolution…shit

      Reply
    • Same! I’m on the same boat as you! I can’t wait for August 12, hopefully GameFreak makes them fake! There really not needed! Yet, change has to happen! Even if it is good or bad! I still wanted Absol and Mawile just to get proper evolution but “beggars can’t be choosers”. 🙂

      • Also, you activate it with a item. You don’t have to give the Pokemon the item. Also, the MegaStone is only temporary! So, it will be gone after sometime that you used it during the battle!

        • Gamefreak doesn’t care if you like it or not, it’s yout oppinion against other million of people who actually likes, that’s the thing.

          • He doesn’t know how to respect others opinions :/ Im actually quite happy with the amount of people that like this feature 🙂 Do you like it ? 🙂

          • I LOVE it, i mean, they are trying something new and fresh, Pokemon needed more than just the same thing over and over again…i really like it.

          • my point is, Gamefreak may not care about one person’s opinion, but there are other people that share that opinion. It’s the groups that gamefreak cares about. Besides Chico posted his opinion, you tried to demean it by saying GF doesn’t care. If the only reason we should post opinions because GF cares, then why do sites like this exist anyway?

    • I’m actually ok with that. It’s like an anime where the hero has been pushed to the limit and is too weak to fight, but suddenly gains enough power to defeat the foe, and then reverts back to normal.

      Reply
    • I alright with this! Where else will you need them! They will mostly change forme from a item then after the battle transform back! Remember Mega Pokemon Formes are temporay! They will not stay like that forever! 😀
