[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

And does this mean that the rumoured japanese names that was published here a few weeks ago has been confirmed as legit now that Horubii has been announced?
I am 19 years old and never before have been excited about games before. Since these are temporary and only during battle, many people can relax as there is no “4th evolution”. I Think these could play out in battle as far as having the same base stats, just switched around. (Imagine a MegaShuckle being more offensive and less defensive or a Mega/All Starters that differ from their initial stats, yet maintain there BASE STAT TOTAL.)

Why is there so much hate? I have to give gamefreak some credit for trying something new at least. We don’t know if these things are overpowered or not. I like the the designs though.

I kind of discussed the usability of Megalutions a while back, i think there’s gonna be a battle mode specifically for megalutions and legendaries

At first, I hated Mega Evolution, now I dislike it.
really, at this point it’s the name that is bothering me. It’s not really evolving, just form change.

What makes Blaziken so special? Hopefully the other starters become mega as well…. i wanted to see more new pokemon, starter evolutions more specifically. But it’s only two months away.
They aren’t new Evolutions as in a 4th stage, Think of them as a new form, kinda like meoletta, they can only be used in battle
im really confused now.. r these new evolutions or optional evolutions? are they 4th way evolutions or forms? Do u need a stone or item? i keep hearing difrent things and i dont know what to believe.. Can anyone please clarify? or is it that know one knows much at this time?
They are forms only usable in battle with a held item after unlocking mega evolutions
And i take it know one knows how to unlock these forms yet?
It is with held item for the pokemon, not sure how you get the items yet but the distributed torchic will come with the item. Kinda like the Gresious orb for Giritinas Origin form
You must have the Mega Stone and hold it in battle.
I doubt Gamefreak would complicate things that much. It could be fake scans leaked at the perfect time.

As long as Carnivine gets one, ill be able to actually use a floating Venus flytrap in a sky battle. Hopefully this will bring better stats to previously useless pokemon.

I have noticed that really all of the mega Pokémon have an x or y
3 for each letter
X’s–Blaziken, Ampharos, Absol
Y’s–Lucario, Mawile, Mewtwo
Why will Mewtwo not be in both games? Why would they cut a Pokemon as awesome as that :/
I don’t think that they are exclusive to any, but the way they are drawn the form either a x or y.
Hold on now. Im seeing some people saying that this a lazy excuse to add Pokemon and features to Pokémon X and Y. These games are by far the furthest thing from laziness. There has been HUGE effort put into this game and they have given us fans so much. There is a point where they cant give anymore in one go in a short space of time, and then you call them lazy ? There saying they love Pokémon and are buying the games. Then show respect aswell !!! Theres TONS of new features and gameplay, 3d graphics, new evolutions, Pokémon Amie, new pokemon, new forms, new , new, new. This is by far the most amazing Pokémon game IMO so far. So its not fair at all that you call this lazy. Some people are coming across as a spoilt fan’s who just keep wanting more, well guess what ? You will get more but be respectful and patient.
Thankfully the majority of us fans here are not like this at all. If we all stick together we can drown out people making ridiculous comments like this 😀

I don’t really care what gen are peoples favourite, its just when people who favour ANY generation start bitc*ing about another generation for literally no reason, other than they didn’t like it for one ridiculous reason. Eg I hated Gen 4 because Mt Coronet was too hard for me so I gave up. Or I hate Gen 5 Because of Garbodor ! Hhaha that IMO is soo annoying 😛 😀

I think my theory on almost every fairy egg group pokemon becoming half fairy is becoming more true. Not 100% still but, seems like the guess is sorta right. The mouse looking pokemon looks nothing like a fairy at all, yet it does resemble all the pokemons that looked like pikachu, which all happen to be in the fairy egg group (besides emolga).

Flareon desperately needed a boost, this is a big chance!
It got a boost in 4th and 5th gen with the added Fire-Type physical attacks!
But its speed is just awful for it, and it didn’t learn any hard hitting fire type physical moves naturally. That was the main issue people had, 🙂
True! You mostly needed TMs. Yet, give that thing Flame Charge… Pure Physical Powerhouse. ;D I know Flareon was a problem in Generation 1-3, when I was younger I loved using it, but now I know that it is not as good as I thought! It happens to every kid when they learn more about Pokemon!
It didn’t anything but the most meager acquisitions. It just kept becoming more and more inferior to other fire types like Arcanine, Entei, and Darmantian.
I mean, Return does more damage than Fire Fang.
Jolteon’s Wild Charge even does more damage than Fire Fang, and Jolteon’s a special attacker!

This tends to happen, us getting bits and pieces of the scans instead of the full things at once. If you notice, right above the three new Pokemon, there is a seperate page with Mega Absol, along with what looks like will be a battle screen with him in it. Though, it WOULD be a bit strange not to have Oorotto…
