September Corocoro Leaking! [UPD2]

[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.

[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.

This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!

On Mega Evolutions

  • “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
  • Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible  during battle.
  • A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
  • One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
  • Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
  • Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
  • Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.

Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:

  • Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
  • Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
  • Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
  • Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
  • Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
  • Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
  • Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.

More could be revealed!

New Pokémon, Miscellaneous

  •  Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
  •  Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
  • Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
  • Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.

Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

  1. I’m not a competitive battler by any means, but I really like these Mega Evolutions only being accessible through a held item in battle. Basically, you’re giving up using another held item like say, focus sash, and in return your Pokemon gets a different form and likely better stats. It definitely has potential to give lesser Pokemon a better chance in battle. And I would hope all the starters get these Mega Evolutions.

  2. There’s over a thousand comments how am I supposed to read the half of these and there still coming wow. I for one kinda like the mega thing as long as its only some pokemon. I feel team flare wants this to force the pokemon to be stronger than their already fully evolved forms to show what they could’ve become, i think the story for x and y will be great and really creative. Can’t wait for x and y but were are the other pages should they not be leaked by now?an where’s the potato chips?

  3. Since Pokemon can only enter Mega-mode while in battle, I’m guessing Mega-Pokemon will have OP stats and over-all better move-sets along with the competitiveness of CP, maybe, just maybe they will get band. Or it just turns out that the power-level on the Pokemon become much greater and what used to be the best tiers turn back to watch the Mega-Pokemon Rise.

  4. So I wonder if these megaevolutions count as new pokemon, because I imagine there will be more of them but really they aren’t new pokemon, just new forms kind of… They won’t appear in the pokedex right?

    • Seeing as it kind of appears that they are still kind of the original Pokemon, in terms that MegaAbsol is in fact still an Absol, it probably would be viewed in the Pokedex under them. Though, there is the possibility they could put in a Mega-Dex area, that only has them.

  5. alright, i’ll be the one to say it. i would have strongly prefered if we got actual evolutions of absol and mawile and split evo for ampharos. not ‘mega evolutions’ which only last during battle.

i will get used to it

    • Yea! I wanted to see that! Not really MegaEvolutions, it was really unexpected. Hopefully MegaEvoltions turn out to be fake and Absol and Mawile get the evolutions they need! Yet, if it is real I would have to get used to it and it wouldn’t be much of a problem! We just all have to wait for August 12!

  6. The Pokemon currently shown has such a random assortment, I find a vague pattern telling us all kinds of Pokemon may get mega-lutions e.g.
    A Starter Evo: Blaziken
A Pokemon that could have had better stats: Absol
A Pokemon that could’ve had better stat allocation: Ampharos
    A Legendary: Mewtwo
A Pokemon that desperately needed an evolution: Mawile
A Pokemon thats already strong enough but can be improved a bit: Lucario

  7. Reading through other Pokemon sites just to gather what everyone is thinking of this, and somebody on Serebii forums made a great point imo. Basically, because GameFreak introduced the Eviolite, they need to be cautious about which Pokemon get new evolutions. So they introduce Mega Evolutions. Now let’s say a Pokemon like Snorlax gets one of these Mega Evolutions, Snorlax doesn’t then become a broken, bulky Chansey on Eviolite.

  8. Do you guys remember the Japanese trailer when mewtwo looked like he was breaking out of a shell? Do you think this could be the mega evolution animation?

  9. Me likey that these Megalutions are something that anyone can miss or ignore. Blazikenitittite stone is distrubuted, yeah! Not real evolution but like form change, yeah! And the fact they have given a name to that stone makes me think that there is not so much megatites in game.

  10. I think this is an interesting concept and I’m glad they’re trying to make the new games less formulaic than the previous entries in the series. HOWEVER I have two (small) problems with this (based on the information we have so far).

Certain Pokemon could have really used a REAL evolution (Absol and Mawile come to mind) and others did not need to get any more powerful than they already were (Blaziken and Mewtwo for example). Otherwise just feel like fan-service for the sake of fan-service (Lucario). None of this will prevent me from buying the game, but it seems a little odd…

But the real issue that bugs me (at least right now) is the matter of WHO gets these new Mega Evolutions? I’m sure there will be more than the few revealed here, but unless they make it fair the game is going to feel very unbalanced. If this starter gets one but not this other starter, how is that going to make players feel when starting the game? If this Pokemon who already has a three-stage evolution gets a Mega form but this other one who doesn’t evolve at all gets nothing how is that fair?

Example – Mewtwo gets a Mega forme but what about the other legendaries? Are they not special enough? Will ALL legendaries get a Mega form or only specific ones? What are their criteria for who gets one? Popularity? Same with the starters – Blaziken gets one…. so does that mean Sceptile and Swampert get one too or will they content with favouring some starter over others? Imagine if your friend’s starter has the ability to Mega evolve but yours doesn’t just because Gamefreak didn’t think they were popular enough – doesn’t seem fair.

I hope they prove me wrong, but the effort of creating Mega Evolutions for at least all the starters thus far would be a lot of work so I’m worried that they’re going to be lazy (like they were with “Combination Attacks” which went absolutely NO WHERE). 🙁

      • When they were first revealed I was quite excited. Super excited actually. But instead of having an oath move for every type we found out later that only Fire, Grass, and Water had one and we also found out later that only the three starters could use them. How often do you have the three starters on your team? Like ever?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Pokemon games and I’m buying them anyway – I’ve just been disappointed by their half-baked approach to new features before. HeartGold and SoulSilver made TONS of progress with menu usability and shortcuts and they were all abandoned with the next games in the series. Same with the Pokemon following you – why did they remove it?! 🙁

    • I’m almost positive that it will be a stat redistribution rather than the base stat increasing. Because I believe mewtwo will retain it’s 680 base stat

  11. I just realized that, with current information. Mega evolution is just standardized form changing for previous Pokemon. (In other words, no mega evolutions for Kalos Pokemon until Gen VII

  12. Too fishy. I doubt they would really fool with starters and such. However the pre evolution looks looks like what was seen in the background of an earlier trailer…
