[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

It’s obvious it’s related to Mega Pokemon, which makes me think that she’ll either be the 8th Gym Leader. Or an unofficial Gym Leader.
There’s been rumors saying there would be 9 Gyms so eh, who knows.
Especially since she’s the one to tell us about Mega-evos.

Absol could really benefit from a Megaevolution. I have no idea whats up with Blaziken and Lucario. I feel like Mawile could have really used a normal evolution before getting a megaevolution. I still fear for Mawile’s stats. I want to use it so much!
Well… this is interesting.
You know… Not like it suggested THIS, but all the official stuff was VERY careful to never say MegaMewtwo, as it were, was just a forme change. Actually, got me thinking, that animation we saw where Mewtwo was ‘breaking’ out of something. Could that be the change into this new state?
These new pokemon forms are cool. BUT, one word.. DIGIMON! It’s ironic that digimons final form is called megas and these new pokemon have mega forms
Yes, but they are called Mega in English. In Japan, it’s Ultimate. So it may have a name change when it comes over here. We should be finding out soon anyways.
By that, I mean, Digimon. In Digimion, that’s the name of the final forms.
I’m probably gonna get bashed for this, but I still wish with all the power of my heart that we have all been massively trolled. (Keep MegaAbsol and Megamawile as real evos though, they are top notch).
I would’ve liked permanent evolutions for them and then give their evolutions Mega evolutions lol.
An Absol evolution was one of the few things I was actually wanting in this generation. Though, I do rather like this MegaAbsol though, design wise. Doesn’t get the fairy type, though, so there goes that possibility.

I love this new Mega Pokémon concept its fantastic. HOWEVER we all must still worship the normal Arceus as it might get jealous of Mega Arceus and then a new Pokémon War will occur (exactly 200 years after the first Pokémon War ) Thus spiltting the Pokémon world in two, Opening the Distortion World causing Giratina to rampage, Which disrupts Dialga and Palkia, who travel back to this time and space and there battle begins once again. This tears apart the earth to such an extent that Groudon and Kyogre re-awaken to recreate the land and sea’s. Resulting in their battle once again resuming for dominance over earth. Rayquaza will descend from the O-zone layer to Quell the fighting but on the way down see’s a deoxys on its way to the Polar Ice caps, and thus makes it its mission to destroy deoxys once and for all. This chain of events and battles will lead to the extinction of the Human Race so please, Worship normal Arceus and spare us all its terrible wrath.
Or use dialogs to travel back in time and live a peaceful life.
You could also create a mega army to destroy archeus and the conflicting pokemon, and make a new peaceful megapokemon world

Some people are suggesting that every pokémon evolution line gets a Mega-upgrade. Despite this news horrifying me, I actually strongly agree with that suggestion as it would make pokémon coherent again. You have this one chance to make me happy again game freak, please don’t mess it up. Oh, and if you do it , make these be Absol and Mawile’s real evo’s please.

Maybe! I like MegaPokemon, but I want GameFreak to “nerf” them so they wouldn’t be to powerful! There like super-charged versions of the regular evolution! I think the “MegaStone” will break after a certain amount of usage! Yet, it is a cool idea!
I’m starting to warm up to the idea. I hope they don’t break after a certain amount of time because I want my MegaLucario! It would really up the difficulty of the game if they do break. Mega stones should last forever because what if they are rare? 😛

CoroCoro releases on the 12 officially, worldwide release of games and information means on the 12th the site will update and we get the information localized. For me (US) it would be around the 11th I believe.

This is them probably wanting to give Pikachu Fairy type but don’t want more hate from fans about Pikachu so they made a similar Pokemon and gave it Fairy type. 🙂

As long as base stats don’t change…I’m okay with it. But if blaziken ends up with 150 base attack and speedboost and 150 base speed…thats where I draw the line.
But I would like a megaevolution to the avatar on my left…megashiftry.
They most likely will or else it will just be an aesthetic affect, which is pointless because evolution tends to mean better. The change in base stats shouldn’t be too great.

Have they confirmed BST boosts? If so I am wondering how this gonna work in wifi, competitions and battle facilities. Are these Mega-Evolutions gonna get banned or are we going to be able to use legendaries along with these forms?

I think they will either get a new tier or be banned! It depends on there stats if it passes 720+ on stat totals. Right now, the Pokemon with the highest stats is Arceus being 720! Yet, I doubt MegaPokemon will bypass that stat range!

At this point we don’t know. But, why would they have a MegaBlaziken with speed boost if a regular Blaziken can already have it? I think some sort of BST boost will exist.
We are likely to get SOME kind of stat boost. Otherwise there wouldn’t be too much of a point to them. At the least stats will probably be shuffled somewhat. How much, though, is the question. At the very least, it’s worth mentioning that if we need to have a held item to use these Megavolutions, then that means you would have to give up other item strategies to use them, so I don’t think they will be the end all be all necessarily.
So basically the mega evolution is the busrt mode of pokemin? Argh I dunno what to say…this is so exhausting.

Serebii was known for saying that the new Mewtwo was Mewtwo’s “Eclair Forme,” which is not true at all. They are not always known for posting true information, but most of the time they do. I am just stating my honest opinion, and as credible as this sounds, I need the official confirmation before I will believe anything.

Blaziken without Speed Boost is not that competitive…as well as all the other starters…and the “competitive” blaziken (the one with speed boost) was available only japan, not all of us could get it…as well as venasaur…
