[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

I love Pokemon to the death, but I don’t like this at all. In all honesty, I don’t see a difference between mega evolutions and form changes. They change the appearance of a Pokemon while changing it’s stats. Sure, it’s only in battle, but it’s essentially the same thing. Think of it this way, it’s like taking a chicken, painting it brown, and you throw it in the water and call it a duck. When in reality, it’s still a chicken. Mega evolutions are essentially the same thing as forms. And if you can’t tell by now, I really hate new forms.
In my opinion, this Mega-Evolution thing seems to be cool but bland at the same time. I call it bland because the idea that Pokemon in the universe use stones to achieve their highest potential goes well with the evolutionary-theory along with many others. And finally, we get the Pikachu rip-off of the Kalos region and our rodent-mammalian Pokemon. This certainly adds to the hype so I hope this is not all that we’re getting.
At the same time, this seems to be going along with X&Y concept of chromosomes ,. The Mega Evolution just may be a mutation, as its different from form changes.
I agree as X and Y seem to focus on the primary idea of DNA. If so, I hope to see some really cool concepts drawn from the idea of DNA. I hope they finally reveal more prehistoric based Pokemon this generation and hope to see some great combination.

There is a scientific theory that states that the prehistoric ancestore of the modern cow somehow, someway evolved into the Whale. If so, than wouldn’t Miltank be able to evolve into Wailord. LOL

This is just a comment to say, I am only a fan like everyone here, BUT people who dislike this introduction to the games, can you please not be so hateful to those that do enjoy it.Not everyone does this but there are some people that are ruining this for others 🙁 Its only an opinion and respect other peoples opinion’s like how you would want yours to be respected 🙂 Were all Pokémon fans here remember ? So lets just enjoy and focus on the parts of the games we like rather than attacking and belittling others because they have a different view or opinion 🙂 Thanks everyone 🙂

IF, Sylveon gets a Mega-evolution then that would really turn the tide of fans that speculate on a new evolution for Eevee. I hope the starters all get a mega-evolution but alas, this seems so Digimon-ish but none-the-less I love this to death. Certainly the biggest scoop of the century.

it appears this is where the fan base splits yet again… now its the gen six haters, genwunners and people who will love pokemon no matter what… It’s so sad!!!! 🙁 cant we all just agree that its nice Nintendo and Gamefreak are trying to make positive additions to the games and allow more people to like the series, not eliminate the fanbase?

It’s funny, I’ve played pokemon since Gen-1, get constantly flamed as a genwunner, yet I’d have to say my favorite generation was 3. :p
Gen 3 was special to me as it was the current gen when I turned 10! <3
Gen 3 is my favorite, the music was amazing! I find myself humming the songs randomly, lol. The first game I played was Pearl since I was introduced to Pokemon during that generation. I grew up with Gen 1, 2, and 3, Gen 3 being my favorite.
Gen 3 is a serious contender! Had a lot of fun on those games 🙂
All the more reason to make remakes 🙂

Belmad, you are entitled to your opinion, but my advise to you is to try them out at least once, maybe even try your favourite one so you might get a more positive experience. You certainly wont love anything if you never love them. In fact you wouldn’t love Pokémon period if you took that attitude in generation one 🙂 Just try them out you never know you might like them in the end 🙂
For me, it’s not that I won’t buy the games, it’s just that it pains me to think of them now. My previous dream of walking through Kalos, discovering new pokémon, and eventually finding out and obtaining the evolutions of, pokemon like mawile, lucario and absol is dead and buried. Now I will walk through Kalos knowing they will never properly evolve, and encoutering a mechanic that I despise and that for me damages the franchise. It’s like the game is contaminated, in a way.
I know I will probably warm up to them in the end, but to be honest I
wince when I think Lucario, Absol and Mawile will lack the evolution they deserve (there megas being evos in absol and mawile’s case, a buffed up anubis and not a baggy-wearing dinosaur-wolf in lucario’s case).
The “love pokemon no matter what” class is split, even further, with “those who like pokemon despite obvious flaws of the game” and “those who flame and lose their stuff over any little criticism and claim ‘nostalgia goggles’ on anyone who doesn’t agree with them”.
i am split i like the mega pokemon and i think that they could be really cool in the game but game freak could also really mess up with this so i hope they know what they are doing

Now that I think about this Mega evolution more and more…Maybe Pokemon-Amie has something to do with this and the friendship levels..This is sort of like evolution and de-evolution :/ Maybe there is like a meter for each Pokemon or some Pokemon and when the meter is full it becomes a Mega(Insert name here)?
I dunno,item called the Mega Stone, so that plays a part in how the Pokémon are actually able to enter Mega Mode.

This is so shocking. This so sudden. This so unexpected. This is so strange. This is so… delicious.
Now I know Sapphire will appear in the Gen. VI arcs of the Pokémon SPECIAL/Adventures manga just to showcase MegaBlaziken, because Hidenori Kusaka likes to show every Pokémon, form, and move, even if he has to resort to gratuitious appearances. And if she appears, then there’s enough reason to bring everyone else along, and we’ll get a Dex Holder reunion where Saque (Sird) will finally be defeated by everyone together.

Im going to put my money on Dedenne, the Electric/Fairy-type evolving into a new version of Raichu or Mega Raichu in the end. This is GameFreaks big chance to finally tweak that evolution line slightly without some fans being up in arms about it 🙂 I personally would love if this evolved into a Mega Raichu as, IMO Raichu’s design is just not as appealing to me as Pikachu’s 🙂

I find Mega Evolutions too Farfetch’d for Pokemon, but I’m not totally against it. I just hope that if they did it for Blaziken that they would do it for all the Starters.
