[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

Pretty sure we realized that back when we got the Fairy type.
I think mega evolutions is going to change it at least as much as the fairy type

Unrelated to Pokemon but did the guest names all turn into
“a” or is it just me?
Okay, so why is MegaAbsol pictured in like, five different places? His feet are shown in two places on the scan with the baby Gogoat; In one spot above them, and in a screenshot. Then, on the scan with the Torchic, his face is seen. Then he’s on the scan with all the other Megas. But there’s nothing adjacent to him, like there is in the other spots. SEEMS FISHY.

I absol – utely love everything in these games so far! I am so happy I pre-ordered a few days ago because I would be panicking terribly at the moment!
I love the Mega Evolutions, they look beautiful! Torchic was my favourite pokemon and now they have given it a awesome evolution! Lucario I love and its new evo looks as beastly as it should, I was wishing that they would give it an evo to fully unleash it’s awesome! I can hardly believe GF has given Ampharos the evolution that it deserved! Absol are they the wings that I have always dreamed of (faints).
Now all I wish for is that we will get the Mewtwo event, along with Speed Boost Torchic that I have been praying for!

Wow, just wow. Stand up and take a bow GameFreak and Nintendo. Noone saw this coming at all. This definatly a step forward and I absolutely love this bold move. The designs are absolutely flawless, and some have both the badass look and are as majestic as ever. Seriously, I am just so blown away by these Mega Pokémon. This has made X and Y seem to go from my most anticipated game of the year to the most anticipated game ever. Thank you so very much for this Nintendo and GameFreak. 😀 🙂

This is my opinion now so don’t take it as fact but they probably choose Blaziken as it has been considered Uber now due to its Speed Boost Hidden Ability.

IMO Pokemon X/Y is on the road to becoming one of the best games in the series. So many new concepts being added. I definitely didn’t see the Mega Evolution coming and thought Mewtwo new form was just that a new form. Can’t wait to see what else is coming and hope not just these six have the Mega-Evolution(Come on Dunsparce)
I also hope that new electric/fairy type pokemon have a evo. The last 3 mouse Pokemon haven’t got no love when it come to evo(Emolga didn’t need that anyway)

The idea of a mega evoloution is very clever, and noone saw it coming! The new pokemon are becoming more animal like again (as it was in gen 1). X and Y is becoming one of the best generations yet even without playing the game. Nicely done game freak

Probably that is what it is, the new forms/Mega evolutions are new forms for both Mewtwo and Mew (from the Pokebeach rumors) 😀

If this scan was a hint to what types of pokemons would get mega-lutions, then stand-alone mons (Mawile, absol), mons with duo evo stages (lucario), mons with three evo stages (ampharos), starters (blaziken) and possibly legendaries (mewtwo). BEAST!!

How do we know every Pokemon is getting Mega evolutions? Or that the Pokemon people are talking about and their Mega- evos will get a mega-evo?? :(( Maybe only a certain group of Pokemon get it?
I’m more just hoping every Pokemon gets a Mega evolution. But most importantly for me, I want all the starters getting one.
Me too! If there is one for each Pokemon then there would be like 1400+ Pokemon this generation so I don’t think it could happen sadly. 🙁
