Magikarp Jump iOS Release + Sun & Moon Update

After being shrouded in mystery for months, Magikarp Jump is beginning to roll out to countries in the iOS App Store!

Currently only available for a soft launch in the Italian App Store, Magikarp Jump has you play as the titular, weak Magikarp as you face off against other ‘Karp in jumping contests. There’s also a pet simulator aspect to the game where you’re able to collect, feed, train, and grow your Magikarp collection; housing them in a customizable aquarium where other famous and rare Pokémon will help you out along your journey. No word yet on when this mobile game will be released to the Japan, US, UK or other App Stores.

In main game news, Pokémon Sun & Moon version 1.2 is now available for download in the eShop! This 296 block update fixes multiple glitches within the game:

  • Fixes Sky Drop glitch where Pokémon active would remain active despite being knocked out
  • Fixes an issue where Scatterbug wouldn’t remember Egg Moves properly
  • Fixes a problem that allowed Poké Pelago to be manipulated with the 3DS calendar
  • Fixes a glitch where Eggs could be given items and it
  • Resolves a glitch where the game would crash if an Evolution Item was the last item in your bag and was used

As usual, these patches are required to go online in game and to participate in and at official events.

    • I love Digimon, but sometimes I wish the monsters were much less complicated…..Like why the hell can 10 different Digimon digivolve into the same thing? sometimes it makes sense, but most of the time it just feels like they’re forcing certain evolutions because they have too many monsters and not enough continuous lines……Also is it too much to ask for a newer series where the Digivice is just a regular Digivice and not some crazy thing that only fuses Digimon or some other kinds of dumb stuff? lol

  4. The ARMS Direct said that there were thousands of combinations. If we only consider versus (1 v 1), then the exact amount is 1980. I want to prove that this is true, but (they still made it seem like there were more) Warning: Math ahead
Let’s simplify for a bit, and only look at when there’s 2 fighters (A and B). The possible fighter combinations are AB, AA, BB.
Now what about when there’s 3? We can call the fighters A, B, and C. Each match only has 2 fighters, so we group them by 2s. Start with A and form the pairs AA, AB and BC. Then start with B; there are now 2 pairs left: BB, BC. Starting with C, there’s only one pair left: CC. So when we have 3 fighters, there’s 6 (1+2+3) possible combinations. What about when there’s 4? Now we use A,B,C, and D. Pair A with the 4, so we have AA, AB, AC, AD. Then pair B with the remaining 3: BB, BC, BD. Then pair C with the remaining 2: CC, CD. And finally D with itself: DD. So there are 10 total (1+2+3+4). In general, if there are N fighters, there are N(N+1)/2 combinations of fighters.
What about the arms combinations? Well we’d make two lists like above, and multiply them, so if there are K arms, then there are (K(K-1)/2)^2 possibilities for arms combinations. Consider when K=2 (Fighter 1 has arms A,B, fighter 2 has arms C,D) : AA,CC; AA,CD; AA,DD; AB,CC; AB, CD; AB, DD; BB,CC; BB,CD; BB,DD; = 9 = 3^2
So we can make two columns, one for fighter 1’s arms and one for fighter 2’s. Look at one column (they’ll have the same amount if each fighter has the same amount of arms available, which is why our number is squared). Form two columns with each arm listed once, then match them starting with the first. Then move to the 2nd in the first column and make lines, neglecting the first in the other side (This is because we have that AB = BA). So we’ll have something like
    A A
    B B
With lines from the first A to the 2nd A, from the 1st A to 2nd B, and from the 1st B to the 2nd B. Like before, the total is 3, which is 1+2. In general, it will be 1+2+3+…+K, where K is the amount of arms available. This is equivalent to K(K+1)/2 Now because we have 2 fighters, the total arms combinations is ((K)(K+1)/2)^2

So the total amount of combinations is going to be N(N+1)(K(K+1))^2/(2*2^2)=N(N-1)K^2(K+1)^2/8

We know that there are 10 fighters and 3 arms per fighter, so let N=10 and K=3. This reduces to 1980.

I guess you can up the amount by saying that AB =/= BA, in which case the total amount is 4455. Instead of having (K)(K+1)/2 as the amount of arms combination per fighter, we have K^2. And the total number of combinations is (N)(N+1)(K^4)/2.

  5. I’m not sure I really like Aquamarine. Her voice is annoying and I don’t see how she’s a very useful gem. How is she so high ranking? Her powers rely on a baton that she has to reach for…and even then she was quickly overpowered by brute force. And she’s pretty dumb as well, considering she didn’t once question the legitimacy of Steven being Rose.

    • This…Is actually very good. Her fact is perfect which is the most important thing. As for the hair, it might be easier just to cheat it a little. Try drawing it as cylinders, then use that shape to kinda create the spiral shape of her hair. Her hair is already just two cylinders, so it should make it a lot easier on ya.

  6. Ughhhh took literally all morning but I finally caught a Male Drilbur
The worst part about being a veteran trainer is that Matures mean everything to me now
And the sight of a Rash Drilbur makes me sick

      • oh booo friggin who gives a shit when you can go farm them yourself, at least you don’t have to wait for a dust cloud and hope its not trash items, also in a cave so i gotta buy a shit load of repel and since i just started its only regular repels before the era of reapplying repels

          • explain how it is,
you gotta weed through a small place, dealing with every tile being a encounter, the water sometimes takes the spot and its not a 100% encounter its 40% for a Drilbur and the rest by gems and stones
and add the coin flip of wanting a male that turns it to a 20% encounter
and you only get 100 steps per repel and starting early only gives you so much money

          • But in some cases it’s literally the ONLY encounter
And you can get it stupidly easy
It just takes a few minutes to find

          • My houndour for a friend took longer in X 2 freakin’ hours of my life that in the end he said never mind to!

          • But he wants one in beginning of the game where he can control more on it like which moves it learns and more training on it

          • I agree they take to much time to find and Rogs. And Woobats can wear down a low level team quickly

    • Well the final episode airs this Saturday. Its an amazing series right now that pretty much feels like a 5 hour Samurai Jack Movie. The Series has been fantastic and I dare say that its perfect down to the fact that nobody seems to really have a solid idea about how everything will come to and end.

  7. So registration for the May competition has started, but we still haven’t gotten the Hoenn starter mega stones for participating in the April compeition….unless I missed it and just can’t find it anywhere? Wtf Pokemon, the mega stones should’ve never been distributed this way. Having to wait over half a year after the game’s released until I can start using my favorite megas. Fcking asinine.

    • To add to the list of asinine things about Sun and Moon is the annoyingly small dex, I hope this won’t continue

Same with the gimmick for every single Pokemon, half the signature moves and abilities are squandered on such bad Pokemon

      Reply
      • Indeed. I wonder how much longer it’ll take before people fully start admitting that Sun and Moon are worse games the X&Y given the crap that the game tries to pull.

        • I liked XY better than Sun and Moon, tho that isn’t saying much. Content across the 3ds games has been non-existent.

          Reply
        • They’re just blinded by Lusamine flashing her bad parenting, Riding Pokemon and brief previous character cameos to realize that Sun and moon gives us less Pokemon and just as little post game as everything else

And those “Grand Trials” are an absolute joke, they take 1/4th of brain power to figure out what to do and the fights are just so watered down

          Next region G’Bonzah Region
More Pokemon, and keep it only new stuff until post
Better features like the PSS, a good place to powerlevel, horde battle and shaking spots
A Pokemon league with competent AI
Fair and equal distribution of types and the inclusion of all unused type combinations
No over the top gimmick that substitutes everything like Z-Moves, the only gimmick is getting back to the basics and buckling down on it
          More customization aspects
A rival that makes you want to tear your DS in half in terms of strength and douchebaggery

Hell I’d even let this thing be on the switch so they can include all this stuff, I mean everyone forgets size limitations and memory used in the process

          • I liked Sun and moon for a few good Pokemon and some decent story line but still more than XY that really just delivered me some of my most disappointing Pokemon hence not a fan of
Pyroar, Talonflame, Kinda Tyrantrum and finally Gourgeist!
But I love all Pokemon games just recent ones are kind of getting sadder like as said the dexes aren’t getting bigger

          • Yeah. I won’t pretend that X&Y don’t have a lot of problems, but as games they were over all a better experience then what Sun and Moon provided.
