Top 5 New Alolan Forms We Need in Pokémon Stars

With up to 20 new Pokémon being introduced into the Pokémon Sun & Moon follow-up game for the Nintendo Switch console, code-named Pokémon Stars, there is a lot of speculation about just what we may see. It isn’t hard to imagine that some of those may be Alolan forms for existing Pokémon, rather than brand new monsters.

Sticking to the Gen I-only rule, here are the 5 we (or just me) want to see:

1. Kingler

Things were simpler back when Pokémon first debuted; fans didn’t care that their giant grab didn’t have much differentiating it from something they’d find at any beach. A classic design sure—but in today’s crowded list of almost 1,000 Pokémon it just doesn’t stand out. I’d like to see a secondary type added so that we can have a decent Water-type crab Pokémon to catch in Alola.

Some interesting combinations could be Water/Ground and play up the sand burrowing aspect or even go Water/Fighting and give it some backstory with Crabrawler. I’m not even going to be too picky here; just throw us Kingler fans a bone GameFreak!

2. Primeape

Have you ever wondered how a coughed-up furball became a Pokémon? Yeah, us too. This Fighting-type Pokémon has never seemed very popular, but it’s a shame since its rather simplistic design could be modified for a much better and more distinct Alolan form.

One of the more unique ways GameFreak could adapt it to the island region is by covering it with moss. Sloths have moss growing in their fur, why not Primeape? With only 3 Grass/Fighting types it would have a much better chance to stand out.

Or just make it a furball… but on fire. That’d work too.

3. Hypno

No Alolan Hypno?! This was one of the biggest mistakes of Pokémon Sun & Moon and Stars will have to rectify this. Make its collar resemble a Hawaiian lei and make it a Psychic/Grass type. Predictable, but also perfectly Alolan.

Another cool idea would be to make this creepy Pokémon part Dark. There have always been some sinister undertones with Hypno (carrying off sleeping people, etc) and it’d be great to see more of that represented in its rather plain appearance.

4. Electrode

Beast Ball.

I don’t think there are any good arguments against this; it just needs to happen. A new type for it would be great too—something that makes it more unique than just plain Electric.

Muk, the moving pile of sludge, got a rainbow makeover, so it’s only fair that the Pokéball look-a-like gets one too, right?

5. Jynx

Long left alone because of Political Correctness reading into its design, this fetching lass needs a vacation from scrutiny. Where better than to hit the spa? Alola, of course!

Many of you have seen the fan rendition of her Alolan form, complete with a coconut bra, and it doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

Or something else that would totally surprise people and give her more of a personality outside of the controversy she’s normally known for. There’s plenty of places to go with a long, flowing gown as any Project Runway fan could tell you.

Hope you enjoyed the list and I can’t wait to hear YOUR top 5 down in the comments below!

  1. I’d like to see Growlithe/Arcanine, Jynx, Farfetch’d, Dragonite, and Nidoking/Nidoqueen. Not sure what typings would be cool though. Jynx maybe Ghost/Grass, Farfetch’d maybe Fire/Grass, Nidoking & Nodoqueen could be Fire/Fighting and Water/Fighting (Fire for king and water for queen), Grawlithe/Arcanine I can’t seem to get Water typing out of my head since it was rumored to be a Water type Alola version, and Dragonite maybe Dragon/Water or Dragon/Electric

Pokedex Entry: A top secret experiment was conducted on Shiftry and its brethren by a shady organization which left their anatomy tampered and distorted. This experiment was meant to make a weaponized pokemon with the ability to outspeed jet planes and perform specific tasks. After the group disbanded, these pokemon found refuge in the mountains, away from people and other pokemon, as many fear them.

Annnnnd my first fan Regional Variant is done!

Instinctive is basically reverse Analytic. It has the same effect but only if you move first

Pokedex Entry: A metalized Seedot who tends to frequently go into trees and hang like a normal Seedot. Unfortunately the excess weight it has causes it to fall when it tries to do so. Standing beneath one when it is in a tree can be dangerous as the impact is quite forceful.

  4. Nice picks. I actually like Kingler it would be nice it got some love again. These are actually very cool.
    My top 5 definitely are
    5. Alakazam. Psychic Dark
This is probably a stretch but seeing how alola made many pokemon types part Dark i would love to Alola Alalazam be like an evil mastermind. And get moves like Nasty Plot. Maybe he can have forks ?
    4. Kingler Water Fire
Near same pick as yours, but i guess our typing is different. I am disappointed by the amount of alola forms due to volcanic changes. But in nature animals like crabs feed on nutrients provided by underwater volcanos it would be neat to use this in pokemon
    3. Butterfree Bug Water
This one is actually pretty cool. The Goddess Hina in Hawaiian is often associated with the Moon(perfrct for sun and moon) and she also sorts represents linked to the oceans too.
    2. Golduck Water Fire
Yet another one. I probably have a volcano bias lol. Anyway, the Hawaiian duck is are found at the hottest waters of hawaii so why not give it to this line. And an actual gender difference would make it even better since many bird species have gender differences.
    1. Arbok: Missingno type since snakes dont exist in hawaii. Arboks wouldnt exist either the Yungoos built the wall!!!
    1. Weezing Poison Fire
Surprise last one being about fire. Vog is an infamous form of air pollution with sulphuric acid, ash and smoke. The symptoms of vog can sometimes make a burning like feeling in eyes and throat. So the burning and how sulphuric acid burns and volcano smoke. Poison fire? This one is a stretch
That was my list in no particular order. I know most people wont care and just work on Fakemon or talk about SU, but i LOVE the concept of alola forms. They are much more interesting than regular form changes and sometimes the regular pokemon (Marowak). Hope to see it more!

    • Good choices!
I think Alola forms for the three eeveelutions would be cool, or maybe vileplume.
For the eevees, water/poison, electric/steel, and fire/ghost. I just thought these types fit their fur (idk why, but yeah).
For vileplume, grass/dark because Karen’s vileplume felt out of place.

    • Alakazam is just an edgy wannabe with ZERO logic
Kingler would be better off a Water/Rock with volcanic minerals pileing up on their shells and hardening
Butterfree sucks but i just had a idea about butterfree becoming a Bug/Psychic by drinking the Oricorio Nectars and they caused increased intelligence
and gained the ability to sense life energy generated by plants (mostly flowering ones)
Where the hell are you getting your facts from, there’s no such thing as Hawaiian ducks living in extremely hot waters
and lastly Poison/Fire Weezing is acceptable but it has to lose Levitate i want an ability thats called Smog Zone and it causes all Pokemon to be considered Poisoned (like facade power is stronger, venoshock double, venom drench works)

  6. The first 2 are some of my favourite Pokemon. Not sure how I feel about them being changed beyond stat boosts but OK. Primeape I can see going Fighting/Electric. Kingler maybe Water/Steel, though I like the other 2 combos mentioned.

  7. Another question on forms who wants new Wailord line forms maybe Water/Flying (inflates to even more massive size and fills with so much air it can now float through the sky)
