[UPD] November CoroCoro Leaking

The November issue of Japanese comic CoroCoro has started to leak online! This issue brings news on the mysterious Type: Null as well as some additional details on Alolan Grimer. Check out the scans and translations below!

Scans

Translations

  • Confirms Ilima (pink haired person next to Hau) as the first Trial Captain
  • Alolan Grimer is Poison/Dark-type.  It’s new look comes from eating Alolan garbage
  • Type: Null’s evolution is Shiruvadi – When Type: Null finds a trainer it trusts, it breaks its seal and becomes Shiruvadi.
  • Shiruvadi has a special item called Memory that gives it the power to be any type in conjunction with its ability, AR System. Also has a new attack called Multi Attack which changes its type based on the held item
  • Jangmo-o first evolves into Jarango, then into Jararanga
  • Both Jarango and Jararanga are Dragon/Fighting-type
  • The Pokémon Sun & Moon anime will premiere with an hour long special on November 17th
  • Samson Oak is the principal of the school that Ash will enroll in

NOTE: There seems to be some understandable confusion on whether or not Shiruvadi is actually an evolution of Type:Null, or a forme change, or something else. The Japanese word for evolution, 進化 (しんか), is specifically used between the two. Showing that, despite the little aesthetic change and the special breaking the seal artwork, Shiruvadi is indeed Type:Null’s evolution.

  1. Ugh, another Alolan Dark pokemon? Grimmer/ Muk as Dark pokemon make sense. I was waiting for some bold Alolan addition never seen before. I don’t know, maybe a Water/Fairy Staryu and Starmie, a Grass/Dark Victreebel, based on a carnivore plant, a Psychic/Poison Hypno, a Fairy/Ice Dewgong or a Bug/Psychic Buterfree.

  2. Part of me is wondering if this ‘Leaker’ is actually falsifying info after proving himself with a legit piece of info. I mean he has no scans to back any of his claims up beyond Alolan Grimer.

  3. Ok Excuse me for commenting again but I have ideas for the types of the ones I think are the only possible ones now:
Ekans and Arbok – Poison/Water (I know this ones a common idea but yeah)
    Nidoran♂, Nidorino – Psychic
    Nidoking – Psychic/Ground
    Nidoran♀, Nidorina – Dark
    Nidoqueen – Dark/Ground
    Venonat and Venomoth – Bug/Psychic
    Diglett and Dugtrio – Ground/Fire
    Geodude, Graveller, Golem – Ice/Rock
    Ponyta – Stays the same
    Rapidash – Fire/Fairy
Doduo and Dotrio – Normal/Ghost (This ones just cause I think a Dotrio with no necks looks cool)
    Koffing and Wheezing – Rock/Fire

      • Yeah cause we’ve seen Dewgong in gameplay already. I haven’t listed the ones we’ve seen, that have megas, are legendary, or evolve into a none gen 1 pokemon. I’m keeping a list of ones we’ve seen in gameplay, Though I have now realised I might have Missed Seel Dewgong, I probably had a reason why I didn’t include it but I haven’t the foggiest reason what it was…

          • (Tbh I suspect Raichu is supposed to be a nod to that one episode over a decade ago featuring a surfing Pikachu with supposedly psychic powers.)

The Geodude line can be justified by living in icy climates.

Koffing and Wheezing could be justified the same way a water Grimer would, that they weren’t always poison and simply became tainted with polution after being traded to Kanto.

Ekans and Arbok could have had to learn to swim because they moved to a swamp.

The rest I can’t really justify, but a flying Rapidash pegasus would be a good idea. I would rather fire/flying though because it makes more sense, otherwise you’d have to give it levitate and that would be kind of lame. Unless you got rid of the fire and made it a flying/fairy, made ponyta fairy and say it moved to a forest with heavy fairy influence. But again, that’s a bit of a push and fire/flying would be easier to justify by saying it grew wings to cross the ocean and climb mountains to escape predators and find new food sources.

          • That is true, though it’s always a possibilty, like how Lurantis isn’t a Bug despite it being a Mantis, though that would have made it more Leavanny like

          • TBF Fomantis appears to be a reverse orchid mantis (plant pretending to be a mantis, hence its name, ‘Fo’ (Faux) + Mantis

          • Fairy explained it so I didn’t have to.
I thought everybody was already aware of that joke. (Maybe just the people who know what an orchid mantis is because they have played animal crossing.)

        • I took it as the they still don’t know the environmental reason that causes Alolan Raichu. So as people have always done when presented with the unexplainable, they merely make up a reason however nonsensical it maybe until proven otherwise.

        • Maybe with no natural predators it allows Raichu to retain more muscle and fat which allows it to store more electricity that increased electrical charge stimulates it’s mind with allows the emergence of psychic powers.

          Reply
          • Maybe it has a Natural Predator though. As a “Mouse Pokemon” and sharing the same environment, Yungoose/Gumshoos would probably hunt that too, even if it’s beef is with Rattata/Raticate

          • I’d be more inclined to believe it developed psychic abilities on its own (or by copying other psychic pokemon) to predict the coming of large waves for it to ride.

But then I still don’t like the idea of it using its own tail to surf 😛 I wanted it to fell trees and carve its own.

          • Well, to drastically over simplify, brain activity involves electricity or some thing or other so what if Alolan Raichu’s electricity gave it the brain power to have Psychic powers?

Still doesn’t explain why itd adapt tho -_-

          • True, true, although they could be missing a stimuli that would cause the change.

Although it would explain how Electivire randomly learns Psychic by TM

          • All electric pokemon having the potential to be psychic would be too over the top. Besides, brains aren’t just electricity, they also require chemical reactions to communicate between axon terminals and dendrites via neurotransmitters.

There are loads of pokemon that learn Psychic that aren’t psychic. Staryu, Gorebys, Wormadam, Mothim.
They seem to have odd rules in regards to what pokemon they give which moves.

      • Who cares? 🙁 I’m tired of all these people crapping on other peoples ideas because of something stupid like justifications, and logic (Something Pokemons never really had). If they want and like the idea’s that they came up with, that’s there business, and they shouldn’t have to come up with an excuse as to why it would work. I know I’m tired of people telling me my ideas are no good, or wouldn’t work just because they don’t like them. So let them have their little “unjustified” type and design idea changes. It’s fun to read about, without the long winded explanations, as to why said Pokemon would receive the new typings/forms. 🙂

  6. Overall, this issue has the potential to be very dissapointing. Depending on the design of those unconfirmed potential Jangmo-o Evolutions and the unconfirmed Type: Null’s potential evolution. Which I didn’t really care for Type: Null’s design to begin with. And Alolan Grimer in general just turns me off. It just looks like a Grimer with rotten teeth and butter over it’s mouth.

  7. Say what you want about its design but poison/dark is really a good combo, only weak to ground and immune to psychic. This will make Muk a great bulky sp. def. pokemon to fear

  8. Idk how I feel about Alolan Grimer. I guess I kind of wish they had gone the whole purification route that many of the false rumors said it would take. Would have been cool to see a mud or water based Grimer and Muk. Alas, I suppose it wasn’t meant to be lol Looking forward to seeing the other stuff in CoroCoro tho! I’m surprised to hear that Type Null actually evolves! i will say I do like the idea of it evolving and gaining a more natural name. Almost like it has finally become a real Pokemon in nature and now it’s “evolved” to be more natural. Finally I’m also surprised that Jangmo-o’s full line will be shown potentially. I wouldn’t have expected it to be. Maybe it’s not the pseudo like everyone thought it is.

    • If it’s confirmed of course, I hope that they don’t too bad. I know they are going to suffer the bipedal treatement like most Fighting types if the rumor is true. I just am getting really ticked off at this leaker. Why share Grimer then withhold the rest of the pictures? WTF is wrong with this leaker?

      Reply
      • True if that’s case why even bother leaking it in the 1st place if you’re not going to leak the whole thing. I agree with you on Jangmo-o’s evolution design as well but I just hope it doesn’t disappoint.

  9. It’s my birthday today! It also means that four and three years ago Pokémon BW2 and XY released. Seems like a long time to me, I’m officialy getting old now!

  10. I really have a feeling this is fake. Not cuz I don’t like it- there’s no in game pictures and all of the pictures are reused and seem to have nothing to do with each other. Totems, trials and meowth? What?

  11. Hmm, as awesome as a potential dragon/fighting type sounds (which I really should have anticipated…) I was really riding on it being a more defensive based dragon/steel type to balance my projected team. If it’s true, then I hope I can still make it work.

  12. Heres a Pokemon idea: Lullabye – Dark/Fairy.
It sneaks into the Bedrooms of children who aren’t yet asleep, and feeds on their souls after singing them to sleep.

I mean, a Dark/Fairy would be pretty cool, most Fairy types we have don’t really have a sinister feel to them, and there are many Fairies that are evil in folklore.
