[UPD] November CoroCoro Leaking

The November issue of Japanese comic CoroCoro has started to leak online! This issue brings news on the mysterious Type: Null as well as some additional details on Alolan Grimer. Check out the scans and translations below!

Scans

Translations

  • Confirms Ilima (pink haired person next to Hau) as the first Trial Captain
  • Alolan Grimer is Poison/Dark-type.  It’s new look comes from eating Alolan garbage
  • Type: Null’s evolution is Shiruvadi – When Type: Null finds a trainer it trusts, it breaks its seal and becomes Shiruvadi.
  • Shiruvadi has a special item called Memory that gives it the power to be any type in conjunction with its ability, AR System. Also has a new attack called Multi Attack which changes its type based on the held item
  • Jangmo-o first evolves into Jarango, then into Jararanga
  • Both Jarango and Jararanga are Dragon/Fighting-type
  • The Pokémon Sun & Moon anime will premiere with an hour long special on November 17th
  • Samson Oak is the principal of the school that Ash will enroll in

NOTE: There seems to be some understandable confusion on whether or not Shiruvadi is actually an evolution of Type:Null, or a forme change, or something else. The Japanese word for evolution, 進化 (しんか), is specifically used between the two. Showing that, despite the little aesthetic change and the special breaking the seal artwork, Shiruvadi is indeed Type:Null’s evolution.

  1. So if the type null thing item hold is true, is this the reason why they are letting you see the type of the opponent on the bottom screen?

Sort of like how they invented Team Preview just so they can let Zoroark’s ability exist without being too surprising.

(Note that although Arceus already had it, Arceus was an event and never meant to be used in competitive.)

  2. Yes!I knew that Jangmo-o was going to become a dragon/fighting type from the description from the official website, even if it hasn’t been confirmed yet! *throws arms up into the air*

    • I don’t recall them ever saying it was a standalone. The most you could be inferring is from their chart, which would simply mean that they didn’t know about the evo at the time.

  3. I always thought jangmo-o would be a stegosaurus with those little tear drop shaped things on it’s back becoming plates. Sounds cool though ! First dragon fighting !

  4. Hmmm if type:null was an attempt to recreate “god” then maybe that explains why it’s type changes based on the item it holds basically a faux Arceus. And it’s evolution Shiruvuadi kinda reminds me of the Hindu God Shiva Which (correct me if I’m wrong) is a God of destruction.

  5. I was hoping for a Alolan Grimer and Muk, especially for it to be Poison/Dark! However its reason to me personally seems less interesting then mine XD

  6. I wonder if we’ll get alolan forms for every Kanto pokemon that didn’t receive an evolution or mega in later gens? Seems to be the trend so far. A little fan-service for the long-forgotten pokes.

    • I feel like rather than just adding dark they could change it from poison. Like make it a water type because of alolas pure waters… obviously that wouldn’t suit this Grimer’s design

          • Oil would make sense, but that’s still poison.
Mud would be lame, but pure ground or ground water might make sense.

            Baking dough… Erm… Pancakes?

          • Well, come to think of it… mud is already “kinda” done, it’d just be Palossand 1.5.

Yeah, so people cook baking dough forme Grimer and feed it to Raichu, yes, that’s right..!

          • Well that’s why it’s “kinda”. And even if IRL wet sand != mud, Palossand operates and likely moves around kinda like Grimer anyway.

          • There’s deep geological reasond why sand != mud.

The reason Palossand moves similar to Grimer that is probably because sand is a fluid and grime/sludge is a viscous fluid.

    • I dont know why they are tying to make pokemon look ridiculous in this gen, I’m afraid this might be yokai watch effect…

      • I think it’s likely looking at the designs Yokai Watch uses.

Some of the Yokai Watch creatures I like, like the cats, but stuff like Mochismo and Slack-a-slash are just plain awful.

  7. Not including ones we’ve seen in their original form, that have megas, already have an alolan form or are legendary, or evolve into a none gen 1 pokemon, here are the only gen 1 pokemon left who can be Alolan form:
    Ekans and Arbok
    Nidoran♂, Nidorino, Nidoking
    Nidoran ♀, Nidorina, Nidoqueen
    Venonat and Venomoth
    Diglett and Dugtrio
    Geodude, Graveller, Golem
    Ponyta and Rapidash
    Doduo and Dotrio
    Koffing and Wheezing

I’m hoping for a Fire/Fairy Rapidash, I can see Koffin becoming Rock/Poison, I can see an Ice Geodude, I’d have thought Ekans/Arbok would have suited Dark/Poison but I’m not sure they’ll give us the same Type combo for more that one Unrelated alolan form, but for the rest I dunno.

    • It’d be a very bold prediction to say all of the unscratched Pokemon all have Alola forms. (EDIT: Or at least apprearing in the Alolan dex.)

Also Charizard is a ride Pokemon which discredits this a bit… unless Charizard really ain’t in the dex and is just a guest only for the ride feature…

      • I dunno what the context was, I just remember people throwing these around.

I partly suspect Charizard being a ride pokemon means it may only be there as a ride pokemon and nothing more. Though I admit, they could have chosen a cooler flying type.

I think the Riddler intended to mean it’s in the game but not alolan, but again, I take everything he says with a mountain of salt. I just put this here to give people something to talk about.
