[UPD] November CoroCoro Leaking

The November issue of Japanese comic CoroCoro has started to leak online! This issue brings news on the mysterious Type: Null as well as some additional details on Alolan Grimer. Check out the scans and translations below!

  • Confirms Ilima (pink haired person next to Hau) as the first Trial Captain
  • Alolan Grimer is Poison/Dark-type.  It’s new look comes from eating Alolan garbage
  • Type: Null’s evolution is Shiruvadi – When Type: Null finds a trainer it trusts, it breaks its seal and becomes Shiruvadi.
  • Shiruvadi has a special item called Memory that gives it the power to be any type in conjunction with its ability, AR System. Also has a new attack called Multi Attack which changes its type based on the held item
  • Jangmo-o first evolves into Jarango, then into Jararanga
  • Both Jarango and Jararanga are Dragon/Fighting-type
  • The Pokémon Sun & Moon anime will premiere with an hour long special on November 17th
  • Samson Oak is the principal of the school that Ash will enroll in

 NOTE: There seems to be some understandable confusion on whether or not Shiruvadi is actually an evolution of Type:Null, or a forme change, or something else. The Japanese word for evolution, 進化 (しんか), is specifically used between the two. Showing that, despite the little aesthetic change and the special breaking the seal artwork, Shiruvadi is indeed Type:Null’s evolution.

  2. The fact that Type: Null has the ability to change types based its held item reinforces and underscores the all too clear references towards Arceus. With just this bit of information (yet to be 100% confirmed), I don’t think I can get out of the speculators Type: Null is a man-made version of Arceus rabbit hole any time soon.

      • How so? Type: Null was created to possess the power of Pokemon spoken about in myths, thus creating a Pokemon akin to the God of all Pokemon wouldn’t be too much of a stretch…

          it nowhere says to possess the power of legends but to rival them for a certain mission aka Ultra beasts, just so much stretching lastely and Arceus is the furthest thing from this citation, yeah yeah those spikes well just a newsflash they’re part of its mask aka not part of its body so that kinda croaks the Arceus connection

    Points:
    – The over-world, sprites, environment, economics, and play of Sun/Moon is much more smoother, better, enhanced, and more entertaining
    – Hau is a little underwhelming and seems to be much like Barry from D/P/P
    – Lily is mysterious (duh)
    – Professor Kukui is one of the best and freshest professors
    – The battles are a little bit slower: HP bar is slow to go down, attacks take longer, and battles have a stunted flow
    – Team Skull grunts are funny, overbearing, and just what you’d expect from real world gangsters
    – Alola feels like a living, breathing region with vibrant colors and new mechanics and gameplay

  12. I think it’s weird that people think “pile of sand/water/lava” is anymore unique than “different pile of sludge” either way it’s gonna look exactly like a color variant Grimer. I welcome the Poison/Dark over the mono typing Ground or Water. Lava would have been acceptable if it were Fire/Ground or Fire/Rock.

  14. I’ve been gone nearly all day, somebody please fill me in. I saw on serebii that some people got to play the first two hours? Is there footage of that somewhere? Also what’s the deal with CoroCoro (I mean, I know it’s not leaking in full yet, but why? I’ve heard two reasons. 1. to be a jerk, and 2. legal reasons. Which one is the real story?) Also what was their idea with Alolan Grimer? GF headquarters: “Alright team, we have a chance to redeem a badly design pokemon we made 20 years ago, any ideas?” Person: “How about green sludge?” Manager guy: “Perfect!”

  16. 3D is not being supported in the overworld in S/M. This should be no suprise. Also, it seems like there might be some sort of Champion in Alola based on IGN’s statements. It seems like Trial Captians are close enough to Gym Leaders while still being different!

    • Well, that was semi-confirmed, when the backpacker said “Our champion is really something else!” in XY. But then again, XY could be after SM. Fingers crossed that (s)he won’t be a pushover.

  19. I don’t know if I want the “unconfirmed” leaks to be real or not. On one hand, Type: Null would have a connection to Arceus, probably leading us to one of the biggest and best stories yet, and on the other hand, the riddler’s leaks would be false, meaning other things he said could be false, meaning that there might not be a battle frontier. :/

    • Something weird about Type: Null is that it isn’t a legendary and its owned by Gladion. Maybe Gladion will play a massive role in SM with Type: Null

    • You do know those weren’t in his words right? That list was from some random dude on 4chan, and the riddler only brought up the the list for reasons he can’t say, as in there’s probably something right on that list. So the riddler himself isn’t wrong, but something might be right.

  21. It’s a shame that actual pictures haven’t been uploaded yet, guess tomorrow’s another day.
    I do wanna know if Jangmo-o will become part fighting especially as I’m considering using it on my team. And Type Null getting an evolution will need some backstory to it, especially considering it was made to combat something strong, I just want info!

    On an unrelated note, it’s such an effort to scroll through comments sometimes, especially when I like reading other people’s thoughts on things. Just my two cents (even though I’m not American)

  23. Although this idea is contradictory to the unconfirmed leaks, I’ve been looking over Jangmo-o’s appearance and I can’t help but think maybe it’ll be a manticore. I mean, could you imagine the tail turning into a stinger? And it growing wings with the yellow shape on it’s face turning into a mane?
