Translations:
- NEW Rockruff’s evolution’s forms are version exclusive
- NEW Day Rugarugan’s signature move is called Accelerock (or Accel Rock) which is a priority move described as “a flashing strike”
- NEW Night Rugarugan’s signature move is Counter which is glamorized with the flavor text “a fierce strikeback”
- NEW It seems these are not simple day/night evolutions but are a reflection of the powers that reside in Alola; Solgaleo in Pokémon Sun (Midday form) and Lunaala in Pokémon Moon (Midnight form)
- Rockruff’s evolution is called Rugarugan (ルガルガン). CoroCoro is very vague on Rugarugan, though it appears that it may change form during day and night, and it is not simply a split evolution.
- Two new Ultra Beasts are revealed, UB02 Beauty (shown in Pokémon Moon) and UB02 Expansion (shown in Pokémon Sun)
- The new anime series is called Pokemon: Sun & Moon and will start in November. Since there is no league in the Alola Region Ash’s goal in this season will be to graduate from school.
- Next month’s issue will reveal the true strength of Type: Null

Ash currently has two female traveling companions. So what is wrong with having both Serena and Mallow join him. Besides she has a cute voice.
No, amourshipping or basically romance should stay away from children shows, wrong place and wrong time. If they would reboot the series into a more mature one focused on young adults audience, then yes a Serena character would be welcomed.

That doesn’t mean the whole anime series should revolve around a possible romance between Ash and Serena. Its still a children show, they don’t understand the concept of love yet.

I’m getting really sick of people calling Pokemon and some other animes “children’s shows” They are NOT children’s shows. And as such it would be perfectly acceptable for there to be a romance. Or have you forgotten about that dork Brock. Who was ALWAYS drooling over “Pretty girls/women” It is actually a very mature show, its the American translators that have turned it into a “child’s show” as you put it, try watching the original Japanese anime’s, and reading the original Manga’s. There is blood, gut’s, gore, and foul language in the original. So yeah NOT A KID’S SHOW!
And another thing, not having any form of romance at all would be stupid, that would be like telling your child that they aren’t allowed to have a crush on someone, because there just kids. 🙁 Sorry but even when I was in Kindergarten I had crushes on a few boys that I knew. And some of them were like three grades ahead of me for Pete’s sake.
Can I just say that I love Rockruff’s evolutions and the Ultra Beasts? I guess the Chinese Leaker was right about Rockruff having an evolution based on a werewolf. It’s design is perfect! I could see Rock/Normal and Rock/Dark being the types. The Ultra Beast are just killers! I love the way they look and how varied they are from regular Pokemon. UB-02 Expansion has to be my favorite, even though I’m planning on getting Moon. I cannot wait to see Type: Null’s secrets. Also, does that mean the starters will be getting Night & Day based evolutions as well? Lastly, the anime looks awesome. Ash is finally going back to school, so this will interesting. I’m assuming his starter will be Rowlet!

If Rowlett has a Day/Night form like Rockruff’s evo, then it’s second, the one we’ve seen feels like the Day form, so for the sake of this lets say Night, might have a type other than Flying, with the accepted theory right now being Ground
yes indeed, the Day would be an archer based on Robin Hood and the usual flying owl (Grass/Flying) whilst night will be based on the burrowing owl (Grass/Ground)
Litten for Day would be on all fours (Fire), whilst night would be the wrestler (Fire/Ghost or Dark).
Popplio’s would probably be the Mermaid for night (Water/Fairy), and for day something else (Water/Fighting)

Does anybody else think that ash going back to school in Alola implies the existence of an educational institution more complex than the regular trainer school? If so, I’m pretty psyched, I’d love attending pokemon trainer school to be a part of gameplay. It’ll also tie into the trial system quite neatly.
He’d probably have been so bummed of losing Kalos and past leagues that he’s deciding to take part in order to become a better trainer.

The has been over for years. Let them think of something new, and change it up a little. I think it’d be nice to see Ash do something other than battle Pokémon.

Random thought: If Type:Null is a combination of the Starters final evolutions (Or 1 form of them) and Rockruffs evolutions day form, then could there be a second Type:Null, with the other forms?
Considering it’s creation I’d say no, but it’s not out of the question.
I’ve seen this theory not to long ago. The starters have different forms that adapt so using their DNA and body parts Null was made to adapt as well.
A Day form and a Night Form Type:Null.
If they do shift depending ,then Type:Null would too right?
But if they don’t shift forms, and it instead acts like Meowstics evolution just with Time of day and not gender, then a Second Type:Null would make sense.
The one we know of I feel is made up of the day form, which would probably make the leaked Starters the Night forms, so Type:Null.2 would be more Bipedal.

Well I guess maybe the one “Leak” may be true. The guy did say that one of Rockruff’s forms looked like it was wearing a kull (or whatever it was) that was attached to its tail. True his drawing didn’t look ANYTHING even remotely close to the form just reviled, but the general info really wasn’t wrong. 🙂 To me it looks like he’s wearing the fur of his other form on his back/head, BUT it also looks like his tail suddenly jumped from his tail to his back/head. So essentially the leaker was at least somewhat accurate in saying that it was wearing something like a cloak that was connected to his tail. LOL
The way the ugly blonde boy is holding the fat rat (with its tail pointing forward) makes it look like a compass or something like that. I think the rat will be able to use magnetic fields to localize itself. So it’s like Ash and friends will have a gps pokemon on the team this season (no more getting lost).

Its a bit of a stretch though.. The form changing mons this gen. First I thought it was a cool fresh idea (wishiwashi or something like that), but using it for the starters and rockruff sounds a bit… too much.. Why do I want a starter that changes his/ her appearance during the night..

haha, well he just did, so… The translation is vague enough to let us in the dark (side of the moon) on if he changes his form during the day or depending on when U let him evolve.
The Pokemon here, Rockruff, Rowlet, Litten and Popplio’s evolution, though normal in level such as Level 36, they will follow a similar path to how Eevee evolves into Espeon and Umbreon.
Which of course is linking to the 20th anniversary of Gen 2 and 10th for Gen 4, as those two Gens use a day/night system.

Still, 9/14’s update on Pokemon Sun and Moon will reveal starter evolutions, plus the Alola Guardian of Akala Island, plus more new Pokemon, plus more Alolan forms, plus a few new Mega Evolutions, plus Marshadow.
