[UPD] October CoroCoro Leaking

Well, it looks like this is it! After patiently waiting for Japanese comic magazine CoroCoro to leak it is finally here! Peep the images below.

Translations:

  • NEW Rockruff’s evolution’s forms are version exclusive
  • NEW Day Rugarugan’s signature move is called Accelerock (or Accel Rock) which is a priority move described as “a flashing strike”
  • NEW Night Rugarugan’s signature move is Counter which is glamorized with the flavor text “a fierce strikeback”
  • NEW It seems these are not simple day/night evolutions but are a reflection of the powers that reside in Alola; Solgaleo in Pokémon Sun (Midday form) and Lunaala in Pokémon Moon (Midnight form)
  • Rockruff’s evolution is called Rugarugan (ルガルガン). CoroCoro is very vague on Rugarugan, though it appears that it may change form during day and night, and it is not simply a split evolution.
  • Two new Ultra Beasts are revealed, UB02 Beauty (shown in Pokémon Moon) and UB02 Expansion (shown in Pokémon Sun)
  • The new anime series is called Pokemon: Sun & Moon and will start in November. Since there is no league in the Alola Region Ash’s goal in this season will be to graduate from school.
  • Next month’s issue will reveal the true strength of Type: Null

  1. UB-02 Expansion「ふくれ上がる」の名にふさわしい肉体は全身凶器!> “Body systemic weapon worthy of the name of the [expansion]!” (expansion as in swelling up or bulgy).

    • Corocoro says Lugarugan is a form that is determined if Rockruff evolves in day or night. The reason it talks about differences is because this is the first time it talks about the 12 hour difference thing, and how both games are considered separate worlds.

Nor for expansion, I think it can increase it’s muscle mass making itself stronger, which is a dope power.

      • I’ve seen several people translating this as a form, so it seems to be just ONE evolution. The used word (すがた = Sugata = Form) is the same for Alolan Forms.

As for UB-02E, drinking blood like a mosquito, bulging up.

  2. Hmmm…

I’ve been pondering. If the games are based 12 hours apart from each other, would that mean that you are most likely to get one evolution than the other, like in Pokemon Sun (Rockruff’s day evolution more than Rockruff’s Night evolution), or is it going to be day and night all the time until or beyond capturing the Legendaries?

  3. From my interpretation of Joe Merrick’s post. It seems like the video update is going to happen on June 14th 10:00 pm over there. Have Pokemon videos ever come out that late before?
    Edit:
Nevermind I just answered my own question.

  4. Looking at the image that shows all three Ultra Beasts:

What do people think of this being a family tree with Lillie (UB-01), Lusamine (UB-02 Beauty) and Lillie’s Father (UB-02 Expansion)?

  5. Just thought for what Gen 8 might be called.

Pokemon Wet and Pokemon Dry, as in the seasons of Wet season and Dry season. Seeing that it’ll be around the 10th anniversary of Gen 5 in 2020, it’ll be possibly be linked to the changing seasons within the game, and would possibly be based on areas that have wet and dry season. Linking to Unova, probably Central or South America (Mexico City, Rio De Jenero)

  6. With Sun and Moon looking to be HUGE games since we’ve barely scratched the surface with what the games are about… I like the way GF is being conservative with game info.

  7. My friend today kinda angered me how he was head over heels over the Ultra beasts yet barely cared for Rockruff Evos. And he thought the next season promo picture was dumb that just set me off inside. ? But I’ll live through it.

  8. Going a few posts down, people seem pissed that Pokemon is becoming a slice of life anime rather than the shounen anime they’re used to. Let me clarify a few things:

    1. Being a slice of life anime is simply a designation and in no way shape or form does it hinder the overall potential, plot, or entertainment of an anime

    2. Contrary to the popular belief on this site, a slice of life anime focuses primarily on PLOT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, and CHANGE rather than it being just a reflection of the real world

    3. Some of the most well received and well known anime all, at some point, incorporate(d) slice of life: your name., Hero Academia, Studio Ghibli films, The Boy and the Beast, Wolf Children, etc…

In conclusion, the genre overhaul, artistic choices, and your pre-existing stigmas against anime of this genre should not be the deciding factor as to whether or not you will watch the show. A show is simply not something created by its labels, but rather its artistic interpretations and writing. Pokemon will still be shounen… but it’s going to add a slice of life label as well and I’m pretty amped up. 😀

      • The series will be simplified, not in the sense of battling or anything like that. But it will most likely mean less fillers and more story-driven episodes.

      • For one, expect writing to be much more focused on the relationships between the Pokemon and their trainers, the trainers themselves, and the interaction between trainers and also Pokemon. Expect the plot to be much more progressive, linear, and have several sub plots. Rather than battles which are a primary source of showing off your bond, expect more than just battling and utilizing Pokemon for other various reasons which seems to be the focus of the games and anime now.

  9. Even though there’s some weird additions like ultra beasts, design wise Alola is one of the best! Look at the Aether foundation, the Pokemon and the region itself! Hoping the base forms we’ve seen now have good evolutions like Rockruff does

  10. I hope GF is smart and adds choices to the story, like FE:Fates did, although not a whole lot of them. There are no bad guys in Pokemon S/M, it all depends on the perception of the player on the UBs. Aether Foundation supports the UBs and wants to incorporate them into our world, while Team Skull is against them, due to a feud between them and the UBs. You choose whether to support them and live in peace with the UBs (like a employee in Aether Foundation) or eliminate them off this planet, for they do not belong (like a grunt in Team Skull).
It will also add another team basis to the Pokemon Community to draw GOers in. One of the biggest thing drawing GOers in is the loyalty to their team, adding a Team Skull vs Aether Foundation will add a whole new meta-game, with conquer game-modes where you have to control areas of Alola in battles.
Oh gosh, please let this be real. This is just speculation from me tho xD
