Translations:
- NEW Rockruff’s evolution’s forms are version exclusive
- NEW Day Rugarugan’s signature move is called Accelerock (or Accel Rock) which is a priority move described as “a flashing strike”
- NEW Night Rugarugan’s signature move is Counter which is glamorized with the flavor text “a fierce strikeback”
- NEW It seems these are not simple day/night evolutions but are a reflection of the powers that reside in Alola; Solgaleo in Pokémon Sun (Midday form) and Lunaala in Pokémon Moon (Midnight form)
- Rockruff’s evolution is called Rugarugan (ルガルガン). CoroCoro is very vague on Rugarugan, though it appears that it may change form during day and night, and it is not simply a split evolution.
- Two new Ultra Beasts are revealed, UB02 Beauty (shown in Pokémon Moon) and UB02 Expansion (shown in Pokémon Sun)
- The new anime series is called Pokemon: Sun & Moon and will start in November. Since there is no league in the Alola Region Ash’s goal in this season will be to graduate from school.
- Next month’s issue will reveal the true strength of Type: Null

My best guess is that the UBs are aliens from an alternate reality where people and Pokemon are the same thing.
Guys come on: it still isn’t certain if they are split evolutions or different forms. Serebii says the former, PJ the latter. I guess we’ll hear it in two days.
I’m thinking the anime’s style looks a lot like the Digimon movie. And I’m not saying that is a bad thing. I really love that flat, drowned out color style. I think it’s pretty cool looking.

Does expansion really resemble gladion? I don’t see but I also don’t have them near each other to compare.
Red and black motif. Rips on clothing show underneath. UB has muscles or what-have-you “ripping” out from underneath. And the fact that the boy looks like the two girl. Clearly it’s his UB AU.

Ok so if this 4chan leak is true, I think its pretty accurate to assume that Ultra Beasts can only be defeated with Z-moves.
Not sure how beauty and expansion are one and the same but okayyyyy I’m kinda over ultra beasts. Just give me Pokemon.
It might not be that they are EXACTLY one in the same. We only know that they are version exclusives. For all we know the story is different depending on which version you play and Sun involves Expansion more and Moon involves Beauty more.
So with this new info we still have questions. what is Rurarugan’s typing? Does it have two different typings depending on what form it is currently in? What are the connections between the 3 blondes (Lillie, etc) and has Ash’s mom finally realized that Ash isn’t cut out for being a trainer and has finally forced him to go to school?!?!?!! I’d say that last one is the biggest question lol
1) Probably Rock/ Something, for Night I’d assume Rock/Dark or Rock/Fairy though don’t qoute me on that.
2) They are very similair to the Ultra Beasts aren’t they?
3) I’d say school as in the trial captains are more like teacher with lessons and if he passes them all then he passes or something idk

Hmm, Rurarugan, or at least it’s head and part of it’s body, remind me of Type:Null, and as Corocoro mentioned a few months ago, Rockruff shares something with the starters, could this be that their Final evolution depends on Night or Day? That corresponds with one of the leaks, where starters “May” have more than one final evolution, which is now possible due to these 2 pokemon being the same yet different, meaning they don’t take up an extra Pokedex spot, and if so,do the ones we haven’t seen form the rest of Type Null? Apart from the Helmet and the Axe part, which is probably part of the helmet.
Ugh Type: Null is a chimera and its so obviously the result of DNA merging of Rockruff and starter evos
Not obvious, until we’ve seen the probable other forms of the Starter evolutions, we can’t be sure it is them, just that it probably is, all we know that’s confirmed is that it’s several different pokemon combined no need to “Ugh” like you’re fed up, it’s just an idea.
If I’m honest it also reminds me of Absol.
Bird like legs, aquatic tail, feline head, canine base plus Arceus symbol as mouthpiece. It doesn’t get more obvious than that.

That is very interesting, and seems to connect Aether with Type Null, which makes sense, as I doubt Skull have the tech to do that, and Gladions resemblance to Lusamine and Lillie, who themselves seem to share a resemblance with the Ultrabeasts, Lillie and UB-01 could have been a coincidence at first, but UB-02 is reminisant of Lusamine, at least the Beauty form, so I wouldn’t be surprised if UB-03 looked like Gladion or one of the other Aether members

I was thinking Popplio, Rowlet, Litten, and Rockruff = Water, Air, Fire, and Earth respectively. And so Arceus, and by default Type: Null as well, = Aether. Hence… Aether Foundation.
Yes Popplio is salt, Litten is sulfur, Rowlet is mercury and Rockruff is lead. The 4 basic elements to create The Philosopher’s Stone and in turn Azoth, or Arceus.
These are two different theories we have. I don’t buy into that whole reboot business. I’m connecting the clear themes of alchemy with the potential for Aether Foundation and Type: Null to be connected to Arceus. And I think the fact the Ohmori incorporated Deoxys into the post-game for ORAS adds hope that he might include Arceus into the story here.
I think the reboot theory is now debunked with the poster reveal.
The only thing I’m not buying is the Whole arceus thing, I do understand why people are saying arceus, at the same time, i’ve got a feeling it’s a 7th Gen Legend/Mythical, could perhaps be the Island Guardians, or the Boxart Legends, or the so called Marshadow, but I’m not so sure it’s Arceus, if it is though, Gen 4 confirmed (That last part is a joke I know how people can be on this thread)
Trust me. I agree it’s rather bold of me to be predicting the involvement of Arceus. But I think at this point, if Ohmori has taught us anything, expect the unexpected. And including an event legendary from a different generation into the story isn’t unexpected… Well then I dunno what is. Haha

Well, it could hint at it being a Mythical Pokemon, which I admit Arceus is one of, but at the same time, this Gen is bound to have at least 2 more, (3 including Magearna), and Marshadow is now seemingly a Mythical Pokemon after all.
However, it could also mean Main Legends, as in Gen 4 the Creation Trio were Myths, which again, I admit, would involve Arceus.
Well technically the Rockruff evo is simply forms rather than a complete split. Sounds like it’ll look one way at night and the other during the day regardless of when you evolve it, but we still don’t have all the info yet so it’s up in the air. Either way I’m not sure I see the connection you’re seeing with Rurarugan other than the fact that it’s one form is on all fours lol I do think that Ruraugan having a form depending on the time of day points towards the starters having a similar thing happening. It would certainly explain the whole single space in the Pokedex bit and why we had extra typings on the Japanese website at one point. I hope we get more news on them soon , even if we don’t actually see the evos yet lol

So does Rockruff’s evolution change form when it’s day or night, or is it like Umbreon and Espeon and if it evolves in the day it will always be the midday form and if to evolves at night it will always be the midnight form?
Presently we don’t know, it could be either or, or maybe even it takes a different form depending on the version, but that seems unlikely

Rockruff is basically reminiscent of a generation 2 Eevee with Lugarugan being both Espeon and Umbreon if they were one Pokémon instead of two.
In other words, Lugarugan’s appearance is based on the time of day Rockruff evolves. This is not exactly a split evolution. It’s more of akin to Unfezant’s appearance being dependent on Tranquill’s gender.
Hope this lil’ explanation made it easier to clarify.
It’s an explanation that is completely unfounded. We have no idea what it’s gonna be. Serebii is stating that there’s a midday form. PJ has a different idea. Until there’s a trailer, we don’t know for sure!

I’d say it’s more like Meowstic than Unfezant.
Meowstic looks different depending on Gender , but each has different stats, moveset and ability.
This is essentially that just with time of day instead, and possibly Type.
I waited for Rockruff’s Evo, and I really like the Sun version! It’s got the characteristics of a wolf, which is cool because we never really had an actual wolf Pokemon. The Night is ok, I’ve never really been a fan of a werewolf.
I love Rockruffs evo! Especially the name origin. Finally we get a wolf pokemon. It would be cooler though if it’s not a form change based on the time of day, but when during the day you evolve it is which form it takes.
The Ultra Beasts are really freaky..I wonder what the point of having version exclusives is. Maybe you can catch them then. Also, I thought the beauty one was Wimpod’s evo at first lol
So I was looking at the scan more closely. I can’t wait to see the fight between Tapu Koko and UB-02 Expansion!! You can see Expansion rushing towards it in the bottom of the one scan! Looks pretty epic! lol

The way UB-01 looks like Lillie fused with a jellyfish, UB-02 definitely looks like a roach to me. Yeah, I see some Lusamine aspects, but that roach hair and antennae, though.
