Translations:
- NEW Rockruff’s evolution’s forms are version exclusive
- NEW Day Rugarugan’s signature move is called Accelerock (or Accel Rock) which is a priority move described as “a flashing strike”
- NEW Night Rugarugan’s signature move is Counter which is glamorized with the flavor text “a fierce strikeback”
- NEW It seems these are not simple day/night evolutions but are a reflection of the powers that reside in Alola; Solgaleo in Pokémon Sun (Midday form) and Lunaala in Pokémon Moon (Midnight form)
- Rockruff’s evolution is called Rugarugan (ルガルガン). CoroCoro is very vague on Rugarugan, though it appears that it may change form during day and night, and it is not simply a split evolution.
- Two new Ultra Beasts are revealed, UB02 Beauty (shown in Pokémon Moon) and UB02 Expansion (shown in Pokémon Sun)
- The new anime series is called Pokemon: Sun & Moon and will start in November. Since there is no league in the Alola Region Ash’s goal in this season will be to graduate from school.
- Next month’s issue will reveal the true strength of Type: Null

Lillie seems too meek, and she hates pokemon battles so it wouldn’t make sense for her to follow Ash if he’s going to be doing lots of battling.

Lillie seems like she’s a bad ass to me, she stands up for what she believes in and that is a trait that will never let you back down
She’d spend most of her time trying to stop ash from making his pokemon battle, it would be a waste of time.
I see no problem with a narrative on alternative ways of thinking in the anime, it could be a great build up to an understanding and a growth on both their parts
If it’s an occaisional thing, yes, but not if every episode is “no Ash battling is wrong, stop hurting pokemon”. If Lillie followed Ash around despite hating pokemon battles, it would be like a pacifist joining up with a murderer or a religion hating aethiest going on a journey with a priest.
I like Brock as well, but he’s long gone at this point. having Lillie be the voice of a sort of a peaceful way to play pokemon could be interesting. Then again we really know next to nothing about what’s coming with the Anime. Who knows.
I can live with Brock being gone, but Lilly would be a horrible replacement. Mallow’s much more suited to that role.
Lillie’s ‘peaceful’ way is by not battling, which would kind of defeat the point of things. It’s one thing to hate battling, it’s another to try to stop everyone from battling.
It suites her rather well. If we battle her in-game, I could see her using one.

Wait. Serebii said that Rockruff’s evolution is solely dependent on when you evolve it, either Day or Night. Yet, PokeJungle says it changes forms based on the time of day. Which is correct or is that just an oversight?

I don’t think so as other sites list it as just a night and day evolution. Also, it’s a night and day evolution what version you get doesn’t matter. The time in Moon is only offset by 12 Hours.

It’s one Pokemon with two different forms knowing that only one name is listed for Rockruff and we have two forms meaning we can still have split forms for the starters.

I’m 100% sure you could catch them at some point. Their supposed to be Pokemon, so I’m sure Pokeballs will still work on them. Also, that furthers the point that they could be captured. Why create version exclusives without trying to make people trade?

I know that. I should rephrase myself a bit. I’m inferring that they are Pokemon in capacity of their dimension. Basically, my point is that you could capture them. Hell, we’re able to fight them in battle too, so why not catch these awesome looking beasts as well!
We don’t know for sure if we can battle them. The part in Corocoro is clearly a cutscene. Also, it wouldn’t be the first time you battle something in Pokemon without being able to catch it, or without it being a Pokemon.
I don’t think you’d be able to capture them. If it has a connection to Lillie it’d feel weird. Plus they’ve said that their power is too strong for people or something I think.

I’m still on the fence. Regardless of them being characters like Lillie or not I can’t see them being capture-able. They definitely have a different look compared to the Pokemon we’ve known. I just can’t see myself throwing a Pokeball and having UB-02 Beauty coming out. I love the concept of UBs tho either way lol

Yes, it’s an extra dimensional being which is now fighting a Pokemon when it can easily phase it out of existence. In theory.
Why would it be able to do that? Just because it came from another dimension doesn’t mean it’s some all-powerful deity.

I doubt it can phase out of existance like that. UB01 needed a portal to come through, creating a portal probably takes up a lot of energy.
My theory is that they were created as artificial island guardians to replace the Tapu family.
It was kinda predictable, that’s why. UBs are creatures from another dimension that are a threat to humans and Pokemon, and Tapu Koko is the Guardian of Melemele Island. Makes sense for them to fight.
But why that one? The story is exciting me so much right now, for once it’s unpredictable.
I’m sure all the Guardians will fight UBs at some point.

I’m begining to notice a pattern in the way they’re starting to design claws. They seem to be slipping into that weird style of making the base really bulbous and making it really obvious that the claw protrudes rather than trying to make them streamline.

It seems like your making the renegade/puckish rogue argument. Your not in favor of the ideals of most evil sides, but you like their methods and styles. Think dead pool in a sense. He’s a murderer countless times over who has done some really messed up things, but at his core he is a good guy who tries to do the right thing, and has actually gone out of his way to get people the help they need, the brute force cross over of his being my go to example of that.

The name of the Pokémon Rockruff evolves into is Lugarugan and has a different appearance based on if it evolves in Day or in Night. It notes that Rockruff becomes the Midday Form when bathed in the rays of the sun and when full of the night’s power, it becomes the Midnight Form. (Got all that from Serebii)
So I’m guessing day Lugarugan is possibly pure rock type and night Lugarugan is Rock/Dark.

It’s just the grin. I think the Sun and Moon anime will have some series and deep moments with Team Skull, the Aether Foundation, and the Ultra Beast. They could potentially make a heartwarming anime if they try hard enough. I honestly think introducing a new protagonist would have been better.

My starter will be Rowlet or Litten first. I plan on using Pikipek, Rockruff, Grubbin or Alolan Raichu, Jangmo-o, Alolan Vulpix or Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Exeggutor, and Type: Null. Obviously nothing concrete, but just some ideas.

Anything on a Nintendo console is infinitely more canon than a phone game.
Not buying phone apps. Game consoles are for games, phones are for texting and calling people, and occaisionally a clock when your watch is in for repair.
I’d be happy to get anyone. At my school people call out pokemon for being a “baby game”. I know one guy who plays the main series games, but that’s it; the rest of them insult pokemon.
That’s how it was when I was at school too.

When kids become teenagers they’re desparate to prove that they’re mature so they start abandoning things associated with youth and pretending they don’t like them. They also start trying to watch dark and edgy adult stuff to prove they’re cool (I remember lots of people were obsessed with true blood when I was in school). It’s kind of sad really.
I know it as well as anybody. My brother is a sixth grader and is the only boy in the class that doesn’t play grand theft auto. I don’t understand it myself, if something makes you happy, why would you give it up just to prove (but not really) maturity? Either way, hopefully it tapers off and I start meeting people who actually like pokemon again soon.

That’s actually a really good quote though, something I believe most of my classmates could learn. They curse, brag about how many types of drugs they’ve used (even though most of them are lying) and down talk things like pokemon just to feel grown up.

I have also never played GTA, and I’m in my 20s. That’s partly down to my parents’ rulings, but even when I was the age where I could have played it I chose not to.
I met people who liked pokemon, but I was doing a qualification in game design so I would have been worried if I hadn’t lol
The sad part is that I bet more than half of those people who dismissed pokemon as childish, are currently or were currently playing Pokemon Go when it came out in the summer.
And if you ask them why they are playing it, they probably would give you some excuse such as everyone else is playing it or that pokemon is suddenly “cool” now.
That’s one of my main reasons for hating pokemon go. A lot of the people playing it are playing it because it’s popular, not because they actually like pokemon.
Or maybe to make it less time consuming, name 5 non starter pokemon from each generation.
That’s too easy, must be at least 50-100. 200 is less than you think. To put things into perspective, including alolans and discounting ones we are aware of but don’t have an English name for, Alola has 51 pokemon so far.
Personally I’d be willing to attempt to name all 720 in one sitting. (And maybe the new ones too).
I’d accept that challenge anyday, as long as I was given a template so I could see where the ones I was missing where. I’d probably miss like 20 though lol.
I’m quite confident I’d get pretty much all of them, even if it takes longer than expected.
I can never remember the numbers though, just the names.
tbh I wish I had a better paying job when I was in HS. A lot of my friends were tutors, so they were making a lot more money than me. I really only had a summer job that I got paid for, the rest was just secretarial stuff that I’d only do occasionally.
With that said, I really lucked out on the fact that I don’t have to pay for college. If I did, idk where I’d be right now
Of course without interupption I’ll blow through the game in like 2 days, but it’ll be a blast nonetheless. Then I can get started on my living dex, a task that I’ve never attempted until this game.

19-20th – weekend
21-22nd – juniors have a retreat, so the whole school is off (except for them obviously)
23-25th – thanksgiving break

I have a 5 day weekend for Thanksgiving and I might just convince my parents that if I have good grades to skip both to make it the same as yours

Getting more than one day off for a one day event is confusing.
The retreat is two days, but I’ve always gotten the Wednesday through Friday off for Thanksgiving.
I meant the latter, it’s kind of obvious that the retreat is more than one day.
Not sure what a ‘retreat’ entails though. The last retreat I heard of involved dodging a hail of bullets.
I just realized that Hala uses a Crabrawler as one of his Pokemon. I didn’t finish watching the Japanese Trailer as I thought it was all old info. I love seeing that Z-Ring on his wrist though! (Also, can I just say that Sun/Moon have the best move animations ever created!)

No surprise there. At E3 they said one of the main focus of the game was better fluid animations. And my God have they delivered so far.
