CoroCoro and SPP Confirm New MegaEvolutions

The November issue of CoroCoro has leaked and officially revealed/confirmed some Mega Evolutions, the starter’s final evolutions, and more!

Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Gengar – Not an exclusive, gains the ability Shadow Tag but keeps its typing
  • Mega Aggron – Exclusive to Y, becomes pure Steel-type and gains the ability Filter
  • Mega Tyranitar – Exclusive to X and keeps the ability Sand Storm as well as its original typing

 Garchomp Serial Code

In next month’s issue of CoroCoro there’ll be a serial code that will give you access to their special Garchomp. This Garchomp holds a Dragon Fang, knows Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig and Draco Meteor. The location of its Mega Stone will also be revealed in the next issue – that is, if we don’t find it first.

UPD: New Mega Evolutions

Thanks to Serebii we now have some new information and pictures of previously unknown evolutions. Details in the spoiler box.

[spoiler]

  • Mega Pinsir – Bug/Flying-type and has the ability Aerilate which turns Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, X exclusive
  • Mega Heracross – Stays Bug/Fighting, has the ability Skill Link, Y exclusive
  • Mega Banette – Stays pure Ghost-type and has the ability Prankster
  • Mega Medicham – Stays Fighting/Psychic and has the ability Pure power

Apparently at some point in the game Professor Sycamore will upgrade your Mega Ring so that it can detect hidden Mega Stones. They are only detectable, however, between 8pm and 9pm.

  2. Highlights of X and Y for me

You can reset EVs to 0 anytime you want in super training

    Weather nerfs
Ability Capsule (Not a held item. Can change any pokemon’s ability to it’s secondary one i.e. Flash Fire Arcanine to Intimidate Arcanine)
Friend Safari (wild pokemon with for Hidden Abilities)
Horde Battles have pokemon with hidden abilities
Horde Battles are more likely with sweet scent and honey

  3. I’m so happy that Delphox does keep the stick. I was genuinely upset because I thought they’d gotten rid of it. I was hoping that Delphox would grow on me because I liked Fenneking and Braixen a lot, and given time and this art, I’m very happy.

  5. The animation for Greninja is spectacular. It stands up and makes a ninja pose with an arm up in the air or it jumps and does the somersault..

  7. Well, I am one of the few that was never that fond of Tyranitar, but I think it’s mega enhances it tremendously. The terrifying face design on its chest and the beautiful spikes makes the design more dynamic and interesting. Other megas may add weird little spikes and tassel-like structures to embellish the former design; however, this design feels more organic and well-thought out. 10/10

Aggron’s megalution on the other had looks bloated with metal and loses all of the charm in its amazing design. I loved Aggron, using it frequently in the RSE series, This evolution doesn’t do it any justice, and really detracts from the integrity of the initial design. The design feels too cluttered. It’s distracting and not pleasing to eye or overall aesthetic. 5/10

Please don’t be upset if you disagree. As you can see, I am not simply saying, one sucks or one is amazing, I have really thought out the reasons why the addition either enhanced or detracted from the pokemon’s design.
