CoroCoro and SPP Confirm New MegaEvolutions

The November issue of CoroCoro has leaked and officially revealed/confirmed some Mega Evolutions, the starter’s final evolutions, and more!

Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Gengar – Not an exclusive, gains the ability Shadow Tag but keeps its typing
  • Mega Aggron – Exclusive to Y, becomes pure Steel-type and gains the ability Filter
  • Mega Tyranitar – Exclusive to X and keeps the ability Sand Storm as well as its original typing

 Garchomp Serial Code

In next month’s issue of CoroCoro there’ll be a serial code that will give you access to their special Garchomp. This Garchomp holds a Dragon Fang, knows Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig and Draco Meteor. The location of its Mega Stone will also be revealed in the next issue – that is, if we don’t find it first.

UPD: New Mega Evolutions

Thanks to Serebii we now have some new information and pictures of previously unknown evolutions. Details in the spoiler box.

[spoiler]

  • Mega Pinsir – Bug/Flying-type and has the ability Aerilate which turns Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, X exclusive
  • Mega Heracross – Stays Bug/Fighting, has the ability Skill Link, Y exclusive
  • Mega Banette – Stays pure Ghost-type and has the ability Prankster
  • Mega Medicham – Stays Fighting/Psychic and has the ability Pure power

Apparently at some point in the game Professor Sycamore will upgrade your Mega Ring so that it can detect hidden Mega Stones. They are only detectable, however, between 8pm and 9pm.

      • huh? I thought IV’s are unerasable meaning a boost of 2 stages from breeding in a stat you like will be permanently there and you can add the max amount of EV’s on top of that making the stat Exceptionally great because it has Max Ev’s And Iv’s…

Or do IV’s Add to your Pokemons Max EV’s?

        • Ok suppose at level 100 you pokemon has the abosolute minumum speed stat possible say:

          SPEED: 100
That means he/she has 0 IVs in speed and 0 Evs

          with 31 IVs it becomes
          SPEED: 131

with 252 EVs and 31 IVs it becomes
          SPEED: 131+ 63 =194

          hope that helps

    • Equally important because IVs are the difference of 31 stat points at level 100. But Max Evs are the difference of 62 stat points

        • I’m sorry I keep asking you these competitive questions lol, but if you had to think of an EV spread for Chesnaught, how would you train it?

          • Hmm….see most physical pokemon pack Stone Edge + Earthquake because it has good neutral coverage. But these pokemon such as Rhyperior are hard to switch in to because of their very high Atk stat. That’s why I’d go with 252 HP 252 Def Impish 4 Speed. But if Guardian was it’s ability, then I’d go Adamant 252 HP 252 ATK 4 Speed.

          • Thank you 🙂

Know what a noob I am? This is my idea from yesterday when I was considering Careful nature:

            148- Special Defense
            176- Defense
            100- Attack
            80- HP
            4- Speed

            xD

          • Don’t worry about it….xD. The best competitive battlers learn from battle…not from calculators. Decision making is much more important than Raw stats and attacks. xD

          • Oh and I’d love to ramble about competitive with anyone…so feel free to ask anything you wanna know xD

  2. I kind of want to prepare a little speech today or tomorrow, in honor of X and Y coming out. I just feel like we’ve all been through so much together, and that should be honored.

  6. Any news on Vivillion patterns in the US?
Do we have one pattern or are there multiple patterns for US players depending upon the state’s climate?

    • I think the patterns are determined by where you evolve Spewpa.
At least, that’s what I’ve heard. I don’t know why people keep thinking the whole “different patterns for different countries” thing is how Vivillon works.

People from the same country are getting these patterns, too.
Just looks at the names for some of these patterns:
Sandstorm Pattern, Meadow Pattern, Garden Pattern, Polar Pattern, etc..
The proof is in the name.

  7. Off-topic, but you guys know how I said I was gonna find a Horsea and train it? Well, after a few encounters with Lumineon, I found one… But not exactly a Horsea, I straight-up found a FREAKING LV. 69 KINGDRA! *O*

Oh, and I also found a Milotic on Route 1 on my first try! 😀

  8. So if Veronica Taylor is at Comic Con, I’m going to try and ask her to say “Pikachu, it’s time we go to Kalos and meet new Pokemon!” in Ash;s old voice. Who here would want me to record that and share it?

  9. would you guy’s be upset if ash stuck to his typical routine meaning he got Talonflame AND Pyroar and if he didn’t catch grass starter for the 1st time… i think I will be a little no matter what happens

he doesn’t need 2 fire types yet I wan’t him to stick to his usual team pattern, Chespin would look epic beside him but the anime opening makes it seem like Clemont will have him… I’m sad =[

Kinda couldn’t see Ash with either pyroar’s but it would be cool

  10. Thunderbolt is now 90 Power, not 95. As is Flamethrower, Surf & Ice Beam
Thunder, Blizzard, Hurricane, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump are now 110 Power, now 120.
