New Pokémon X & Y Rumors: Fairy-type Dunsparce?!

PokéBeach has posted some new rumors that they claim to have received from a reliable source. As always, I post these rumors for discussion purposes only, please do not post them elsewhere as confirmed information or interpret these as me posting information as real.

New Pokémon

  • Trusk & its pre-evolution: Grass/Rock Pokémon with long green tusks and grey skin. Pre-evolution was described as “adorable”
  • Apparachnid: Ghost-type spider Pokémon which appears in caves. It is grey with blue spots and has a glowing abdomen. May have an evolution
  • Quillom: Normal/Poison procupine Pokémon. New attack with a high chance of poisoning. Its skin is white and its quills are purple
  • Badger Pokémon: Name unknown, but it is dark brown with stripes and knows a new biting move
  • Froakie’s Final Evolution: Water/Fighting and resembles a poison dart frog. Uses its legs to attack. Its form gets a bit heavier and it is mostly dark blue now
  • Bunnelby Evolution: Ground/Dark and round. Much larger than it’s pre-evolution
  • Helioptile Evolution: Stands on two legs and has two yellow triangle designs on its face now. Its appearance becomes more menacing and its ears are more rough and there are spikes going down its back. Learns the new attack Thunder Roll
  • Espurr: Pre-evolution of Meowstic, very cute

Competitive Information

  • Chansey-line, Dunsparce, Clefairy-line, and Togepi-line are now Fairy-type
  • Fairy Dust: New attack which causes a random status condition from Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, or Burn
  • A Wailmer game is shown for the Super Training Facility games

Game Information

  • Team Flare is featured at the beginning of the game in a TV segment. They encourage trainers to match their style and Pokémon
  • Opening cinematic in the game is 3D and features the player character watching Yveltal (Pokémon Y?) fly across the sky. More in-game shots follow
  • Xerneas and Yveltal’s 3D models can be rotated using the analog stick on the title screen.

  4. So if Togepi’s line is gonna be a Fairy type is it gonna be Togepi – Normal/Fairy, and Togetic and Togekiss – Fairy/Flying, or Normal/Fairy?

  5. Better description of the opening:

“The opening cinematic is in 3D. It starts off with Yveltal’s cry, which wakes you up. You sit up in your bed. It then pans and there is a shot of your city. Yveltal’s shadow goes over it. After that there is some other shots of your town. You seem amazed that you saw Yveltal. It then shows generic in-game shots like you entering a forest with your friends, selecting your starter, running through a cave, etc. After that it shows Sycamore welcoming you. You are standing outside of his lab at the time, then he takes you inside. It then shows him showing you three Poke Balls which leads into a transformation video where it shows all three Kanto starters evolving to their final forms, and then the three of them Mega Evolving. It’s a really cool cinematic. The video ends with Yveltal flying with the sun behind him, leading in to the title screen. Team Flare is also shown at some point in the sequence.”

  6. Im reading these rumors just as Im about to go to bed, so Im too tired to check other posts to see if this has been mentioned. Sorry for that. However, didnt we recently have an interview with like…Masuda or something that said none of the Kalos pokemon would mega evolve. Yet this source claims the opening sequence shows the Kalos starters mega evolution?

  7. I’d love to see more spiders/beetles. I’m sick of these moth type bugs roaming the streets of Pokemon!

  8. I’m going to be honest, when black and white came out, the first I heard about them was from a gamestop poster. I knew virtually nothing about them. This was a time before I began using the internet.

  9. I’m going to go on a tangent here and say how much I want these rumors to be true. Badger? Yes. Ghost spider? Hell yes. Ground/Dark Bunnelby evolution? My dream come true.

  10. I kind of expected Ground for Bunnelby, but getting two new types at once? Sounds fun. If this are real that is.
Of course, they sent out press copies by now and there WAS that spider web in the gym..

  11. I hope Dunsparce gets a Megalution this time and maybe if there is a PMD: GTI sequel or something it could Mega Evolve and impress Virizion even more?

  12. I wonder if Blissey will be pure fairy or normal/fairy. Either way, Blissey trades her fighting weakness for steel and poison weaknesses and becomes immune to dragon, resistant to dark and bug (not sure about fighting yet).

Give me a break. If she gets a mega evolution, i’m gonna shank someone.

  13. Bunnelby’s evolution seems fishy. Going from Normal to Ground/Dark? I don’t buy it.
And why reclassify the Togepi line to become part fairy? I’ve heard so many speculations about this but never understood why! What, is its Normal type going to be replaced with fairy? Togetic and Togekiss are Normal/Flying. Not a bad type combination. Not only that, but because of its Normal Type, its immune to Ghost and gets STAB with Extremespeed, Hyperbeam, and a few other great Normal Type moves! Imagine how heartbreaking it would be for fans of the Togepi line if its reclassification is confirmed to be true!

      • That is what gave me the idea for Togetic’s ability to evolve into either Togekiss, a Dragon/Flying-type, or a Fairy/Flying type. Split evolutions forever!

        Reply
      • It could learn a new Normal Type move that would be supereffective against dragons and get a mega evolution that gives it a new ability which would make it immune from dragon type attacks.

        Reply
    • No one, and I mean, NO ONE, uses Togekiss for “normal” STAB online. The occasional once in a blue moon foe comes with a Tri Attack Togekiss which is insanely rare, but other than that Togekiss wouldn’t be losing anything if it dropped its Normal typing. Yes it loses immunity to ghost, but now it gains immunity to dragon. Togekiss is already bulky enough, and now gains resistances to Dark, Fighting, & Bug. So *applauds*. Atleast now it can probably run moves like Moon Blast next to Air Slash.

Fairy was probably always planned for it anyway. The first ever time I saw Togepi in the anime, I couldn’t figure out its type for my own self at the time. And also someone pointed out one of Togetic’s old dex entries says something about sprinkling a fairy dust in front of humans and what do ya know, there is a new move called “Fairy Dust”.

      Reply
      • But heavymetallamb, that would also make Togekiss susceptible to Ghost-type moves. Instead of Fairy-type, Togetic needs a split evolution! A Dragon-type evo with abilities that provide immunity to Fairy-type moves and can either draw them in to raise Attack power or allow it to restore HP when it by them! If it would make you feel better, if Togetic were to become a Fairy-type then we would need three branches. One for the Normal/Flying type Togekiss, one for its Dragon/Flying type evolution, and one for its Fairy/Flying type evolution. I would bag three Togepi if that would happen.

        Reply
        • I would also bag 3 togepi if that would be the case. I can also see an ability being made like that, like the fairy type “Flash Fire” or “Volt Absorb”. But I don’t see that happening yet. I just think Togekiss line will be reclassed, thats it.

          Reply
      • Ok I guess it makes sense, but it just seems strange that GF would do this. Pokémon that have been reclassified were all Pure Types. It’s like GF is admitting that they made a mistake and hopes that people will just forget about it, like the GS ball in the Orange Islands Arc.

Also, how can Togekiss learn Tri-Attack? Is it a special move in Colosseum?

        Reply
        • Yeah Togepi gets Tri Attack in one of those console games. I can’t remember. I have one untouched lvl 25 on my B2 but its summary says it comes from “Distant Land” so I don’t know which game thats from lol

          • I looked it up. It’s Gale of Darkness. That’s so cool! I hope to play those games someday. They seem really good.

          • Gale of Darkness was rather fun I think. Playing the game to Snag the Shadow Pokemon can be tricky sometimes though, PARTICULARLY the final boss, who is wielding 6 Shadow Pokemon. The Shadow Lugia you can capture rather easily right before it helps tremendously, due to being resistant to Shadow Moves, but it’s still quite a bit of damage. Cipher is also about one of the most threatening Enemy teams in the game. Sure their main members are kind of goofy in their power ranger outfits, but their goals and how close they get to achieving them, and the means to that end even, are about the darkest in the games outside of Ghetsis. And there is a random early cameo by Munchlax, and I think maybe one other Gen IV Pokemon, though you can’t capture them, for obvious reasons.

          • I believe that other Gen IV Pokémon is Bonsly. Sucks how you couldn’t catch them, but makes sense. I love how they had those two though as a sneak peak of a generation that hadn’t started at the time, like some of the movies. I would play them, but with so many changes that happened in Gen !V, I find it difficult to play anything before Platinum (no Physical/Special Split, and less Pokémon to chose from). If GF remakes them for Wii U, then I would get them and buy the console. Thanks for the info!

          • You know, that reminds me. Pokemon XD are the first games to have the Physical Special Split. Through Shadow Moves. Not in the first game, where there was only one Shadow Move they all had, but in the second game, where they had distinctive Shadow Moves for Shadow Pokemon to have, they all counted as this Shadow Element, but would either be a physical or special move.

          • Sweet! It sounds great! With Pokémon Transfering confirmed between 5th Gen and 6th Gen, do you plan on transferring it to X or Y?

          • Yeah. Great thing about it is its modest nature. I have boxes of rarities that I plan on transfering over. I even have legit shiny WISHMAKR jirachi that I can’t wait to see in 3D on x and y. sucks that we have to wait until december though

          • Yeah, it does suck that we have to wait until December. I plan on transferring a few legendaries, the Shiny Creation Trio, and a Zorua I bred that I want to use in the games after X and Y, hopefully the Hoenn Remakes.

Congrats on the Jirachi! How’d you get it?

          • We will definitely get a Hoenn remake or remakes, I’m sure of it. I have still yet to get the shiny creation trio events, I have the shiny creation trio at lvl 1 from HGSS in-game through arceus event, but I don’t have them shiny in cherish ball. I will get them from my friend on serebii chat. And I got the Jirachi through a friend that RNG’d it from the gamecube disc. Apparently you can only get it in 7 natures. Mine is naughty.
