New Pokémon X & Y Rumors: Fairy-type Dunsparce?!

PokéBeach has posted some new rumors that they claim to have received from a reliable source. As always, I post these rumors for discussion purposes only, please do not post them elsewhere as confirmed information or interpret these as me posting information as real.

New Pokémon

  • Trusk & its pre-evolution: Grass/Rock Pokémon with long green tusks and grey skin. Pre-evolution was described as “adorable”
  • Apparachnid: Ghost-type spider Pokémon which appears in caves. It is grey with blue spots and has a glowing abdomen. May have an evolution
  • Quillom: Normal/Poison procupine Pokémon. New attack with a high chance of poisoning. Its skin is white and its quills are purple
  • Badger Pokémon: Name unknown, but it is dark brown with stripes and knows a new biting move
  • Froakie’s Final Evolution: Water/Fighting and resembles a poison dart frog. Uses its legs to attack. Its form gets a bit heavier and it is mostly dark blue now
  • Bunnelby Evolution: Ground/Dark and round. Much larger than it’s pre-evolution
  • Helioptile Evolution: Stands on two legs and has two yellow triangle designs on its face now. Its appearance becomes more menacing and its ears are more rough and there are spikes going down its back. Learns the new attack Thunder Roll
  • Espurr: Pre-evolution of Meowstic, very cute

Competitive Information

  • Chansey-line, Dunsparce, Clefairy-line, and Togepi-line are now Fairy-type
  • Fairy Dust: New attack which causes a random status condition from Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, or Burn
  • A Wailmer game is shown for the Super Training Facility games

Game Information

  • Team Flare is featured at the beginning of the game in a TV segment. They encourage trainers to match their style and Pokémon
  • Opening cinematic in the game is 3D and features the player character watching Yveltal (Pokémon Y?) fly across the sky. More in-game shots follow
  • Xerneas and Yveltal’s 3D models can be rotated using the analog stick on the title screen.

  1. Huh. I just went on pokebeach, and it seems they have more stuff than you guys listed. The badger is Ground type and knows slash, they have more on the appearance of Trusk and its pre-evo, more on Espurr, the outfit you start out with, and more on the opening.

  2. I like all of these rumors (facts) for the most part. The only one I hate is that Bunnelby becomes part Dark type. It’s way too random in my opinion.

  3. I like all these rumors! Although if or when it’s confirmed true, it’s probably that time for me to banish myself from the internet. I don’t wanna spoil the game for myself.

  4. I hope that the new Pokemon Pokemon.com shows is NOT the evolutions of the Pokemon in these rumors. I hope it’s something different or perhaps Oorotto!

  5. Trusk seems very similar to Gogoat…and Quillom seems very similar to Quiladin. :/ Not that this denounces anything but it feels strange to me.

    • I love the idea of trusk! Though, I hoping we get our cute/elegant plant or flower based pokemon soon. Unless of course, Flabebe evolves into a fairy/grass.

And yeah, two ‘quill’ pokemon is questionable.

  6. On Wednesday, I would totally not be surprised to see the evolution of Bunnelby or Helioptile. Could also be Oorotto or an Eeveelution but likely Bunnelby or Helioptile, considering it’s highly likely to be an evolution of a Pokemon already revealed.

  7. I really love these rumors, because it shows a sense of realism. He puts in certain details where it appears he doesn’t know everything. I love the spider rumor and thr Helioptile rumor and the majority of the rumors. I’m a little spectacle on the intro scene, but it is quite detailed.

  8. I actually want to be spoiled, since I like planning my teams before I start the game, so I hope we keep getting info in the next couple of day. To those who hate spoilers, I advice to be carefull when visiting the web since more spoilers may be coming out.

    • I have to be spoiled or else I’ll have a 5 minute heart-panic attack err’time I see a new Pokémon. I can’t. I just CAN’T! The spoilers will help alleviate the side effects of too much hype.
I especially need to be spoiled on the starters. I don’t wanna spend a whole hour deciding on who I’m gonna choose. ( ་ ⍸ ་ )

  9. I take back what I said about Bunnelby’s evolution being ugly due to the description. I just realized that bunnies in real life are round and fat and this Bunnelby evolution will probably be a complete badass because of the Dark typing!

  10. If this is true then I wonder how they will be giving Togekiss the Fairy-typing? Also, the idea of a non-Poison-type poison dart frog is something I find funny, I can’t help but feel that Trusk sounds like another fossil, and I’m still trying to figure out why Bunnelby becomes part-Dark. Seems it’s a trend for Pokémon to turn to the Dark Side these days.

Oh, and I missed where they said they were going to be revealing a new Pokémon tomorrow! Thanks for the heads up, can’t wait to see what kind of Grass/Ghost-type they have to show us.

  11. Two things are bugging me from these rumors:
1- Why does Bunnelby, a pure normal-type pokémon, evolves into a grond/dark type? I do think it will turn out ground, but why dark?
2- How come the Togepi-line are being retyped to fairy? Are they gonna lose their normal type status?

I think Fairy Dust is an awesome idea! It’s pretty unpredictable, so many people won’t be using it, but it seems super fun!
Oh, and that Trusk is kinda my idea of how Chespin’s final evolution will be…

    • The source stated it’s most likely to help players involve Pancham. Also, they need more dark types. Who knows why dark exactly…there might be a story involved with the fact that a BUNNY digs through dirt WITH ITS EARS.

Togepi are very fairy-like so I’m not surprised. They probably will. Surskit and Azurill both lose their respective typings of normal and bug so it’s been done before.

Chance is a huge thing in Japan.

      • Inb4 Togetic learns Fairy Dust.
Its Diamon & Pearl Pokédex entry says so. Kinda…

“It is said to appear in front of kindly people to scatter a glowing down called “joy dust.“”

        Close enough.

      • Could it be that the two story lines are different depending on each game? Yveltal is the destruction Pokemon and maybe the game will have more more Dark types? Just some food for thought 😛

      • About the Surskit and Azurill thing, albeit true, a Pokémon has NEVER evolved from Pure Type to Dual Type with none of the types matching the former! Now if Azurill is still pure Normal, then that could be a different story.

        Reply
        • … but Azurill IS pure Normal, and evolves into pure Water
I honestly don’t see why everyone has a problem with Togetic/Togekiss losing normal type for Fairy. I’m personally not fussed whether or not it happens, but I think it’s likely.

    • To answer your questions mate:
      1. Bunnelby, a pure normal-type, evolves into a ground/dark type the same way Surskit, a Bug/Water evolves into a Bug/Flying. The same way Azurill, a Normal type, evolves into a Water type Marill. Its ability “Pick Up” could be seen as a Dark type trait, as seeing that it finds you random items that its possibly “stealing” – which is evil somewhat. It has teeth like raticate/bibarel, I can totally see it becoming a thief type of rabbit that attacks with its teeth. I bet its teeth grows at the same rate as the two I just mentioned.
      2. The togepi line need retyped to fairy. I doubt Togepi loses its normal type status but I think its other two evo’s will. Jigglypuff remained Normal/Fairy, I think Togepi will remain Normal/Fairy, but evolve into a Flying/Fairy. It would only be GAINING. It has no competitive STAB normal type moves, and with Air Slash and new Fairy type moves plus an immunity to dragon, it can only gain a boost this gen. Be happy mate!

      • 1. You’re right! It’s not unusual for pokémon to ‘lose’ one type when they evolve, but getting two totally different types is something we’ve never seen! I do think it’s possible though, as some trends we’ve seen involving types have been taken down (like Tornadus being a pure flying-type in gen 5).
        2. The Togepi line as fairies makes perfect sense and it’s an awesome idea, but again, we’ve never had a pokémon who actually got a type REPLACED by another. Magnemite, for example, just gained steel type in gen 2, it didn’t lose its electric type.

I’m quite happy with the rumors, just think that these two points are a bit unlikely… but not impossible! 😉

  12. Sounds Cool! After, many Pokemon X & Y rumors became true… I’m not disregarding this! I hope Helioptile is the evolution they show on Wednesday. I would really like to see if it matches the rumor!

  13. These are very interesting rumors. Although, I doubt the intro screen (I want to hear about the X one dangit!) since it’s too detailed and made up in my view. But the Pokemon I have no problem with (Helioptile’s evo and ghost spider…..AWWW YEAH, and I also like the spider’s name….play on arachnid and paranormal :D) And the retyping’s make sense (Snubbull? No?) Fairy Dust is something I wanna use though >:) muhahaha! And I like how TF will be introduced early, to get us wondering about them. All in all, I kinda want some of these to come true, but if not, it was fun speculating and talking about it. (BUT I WANT THAT SPIDER! AND HELIOPTILE’S EVO! AND FAIRY DUSTTT! D:)

    • What makes the intro too detailed? That’s child’s play considering the 3DS’s capabilities. I was hoping they would have a very cinematic opening for once.

      Reply
      • Well, usually when I see too many details in rumors, I tend to doubt them. I usually doubt rumors to begin with, but detailed ones seem suspicious to me. That’s not to say I wouldn’t like it, I mean it’s pretty cinematic and I would be stoked to play it after watching it, but it’s the only thing that’s detailed to that extent.

  14. Alright we have a thread on this!

I was expecting Froakie to be water/dark from TCMets Rumors. But I’m even happier knowing that it’s water/fighting.

With it’s jumping abilities I can easily see it learning High Jump Kick/ Jump Kick. And with Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Bulk Up, ~120 speed, ~100 atk and spatk….I see lots of potential!!!

    TEAM FROAKIE xD

  15. These all actually seem really believable to me. But the only thing is that all those pokemon that were renamed as fairy types would all be fairy/normal. While I do think that this will still happen, I would like it if dunsparce had an evolution too 🙂 And still praying for a dark/electric type!! This spider one sounds interesting though. I really liked galvantula so this one would be welcome too! And I’d love a badger pokemon! That way I could name it after helga hufflepuff!

    • I think only Togepi should be retyped as Fairy, instead of removing the Flying-type from Togetic and Togekiss. Makes more sense to me.
