September Corocoro Leaking! [UPD2]

[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.

[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.

This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!

On Mega Evolutions

  • “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
  • Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible  during battle.
  • A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
  • One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
  • Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
  • Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
  • Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.

Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:

  • Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
  • Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
  • Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
  • Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
  • Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
  • Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
  • Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.

More could be revealed!

New Pokémon, Miscellaneous

  •  Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
  •  Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
  • Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
  • Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
  • Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.

Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

  1. I agree with most people that I will always love playing pokemon and going on adventures but i think this is the final nail in the coffin for competitive play… I would have been so excited if only absol, ampharos and mawile got these but to give them to blaziken and lucario swell is just broken… I was so upset by the fact that 70% of my wifi battles were against Tornadus, politoed and kingdra but this takes will take over-centralization to a whole other level. I have nothing against blaziken and lucario, and lucario is even one of my all time favourites but i dont want him to be op. I might be jumping to conclusions since we dont really know how available these megas will be since speedboost blaziken didnt even come stateside but dont tell me noone else is worried??

  2. I wonder what is meant by ‘temporary’ in battle. If the item is held, the pokemon when released in battle mega-evolves until it’s called back? Or it only lasts a few turns? That seems cheap since megastones already take up a held item, so the first idea seems most logical.

  3. Mega forms do look cool and fit in image wise… Except Lucario and Absol… those designs are All over the place .. so much going on, but I am sure I will get use to them, would be easier if they made Absol simpler looking and used less Red with Lucario in my opinion because when I see so much going on in a design I typically don’t even let my eye focus in one area.. I just take it all in at one time and currently FOR ME it is too much.. but again Im sure I will love em all eventually
But I am still curious as to why these already Well used cool Pokémon have to be further powered up…

    • Actually Lucario’s red is ok on his body, the locks… I dunno, but I know I would prefer they take out the yellow fur on the stomach region though

  4. I hope these have some sort of changes so that they aren’t too OP. Like it must be holding the item and also be the last pokemon in your team too. Or maybe it is a consumable item so you can only use it once per battle and not regenerated after switching back out (and we know how important switching is nowadays). But for me the best case scenario will only be if they are banned online (like the soul dew) because although they’re EPIC its unfair to all those other pokes that don’t get them.

    • The stone for Blaziken isn’t found in gameplay though, so a consumable would make the forms barely worth it. Likewise, the game is already balanced in a way that some Pokemon are weak and barely usable…especially in competitive play though, the fact that the stones take up your held item is kind of a set back.

      • It all really depends on how much of a stat increase they get. If you’re getting the benefits of all the choice items in one then nothing else will really matter

  5. i’m totally fine with this apart from blaziken, and that may change if all other starters (or even just the other gen3) got them too

  6. Okay, so the mega evolution is starting to grow on me. The only thing I am worry about is if it will affect the amount of new Pokemon we will get sixth generation. I am just hoping we get at least more than the second generation.

also I hope the mega forms evolution things or whatever, is called Awaken forms here in the states. Sounds better.

    • Well, in a way, I’m kind of hoping they won’t be counted as ‘new’ Pokemon, such as in the dex, so we can have them, and not really have to worry about it affecting any slots for what would be new Pokemon otherwise. But you never know. But more than Gen II would be greatly appreciated.

      • Yeah, I agree with what you are saying. Im still buying the game, but I will be pretty disappointed if we get less than 100 new pokemon excluding mega forms/evolution

        Reply
        • I’m not even sure what they would have to do to make me quit playing. Probably horrendous Pokemon designs across the board, like the kind that simply will never grow on you.

          • I am not sure either. being a fan since it started, i fell like nothing can stop me from liking pokemon =).

          • Same, Pokemon Red. After having gone through all of grade school and high school, the fad years, and when being a Pokemon fan generally got you ridiculed, at least at my school, I really think the only thing that would make me stop is if they stopped making new games. And even then, I’d likely still play the old ones regardless.

  7. i just thought about something gamefreak could have named these new pokemon anything other than mega i mean if they were just forms people would not be angry but its like they did it so people would think about digimon i know pokemon and digimon are very different could this have something to do with the crossover of the century gamefreak talked about could it be pokemon meets digimon

    • Mega is only the Japanese name. Zapdos’ Japanese name, for example, was Thunder. Moltres was Fire, and Articuno was Freezer.

So honestly, the Japanese name has nothing to do with the English name for all we know. It looks like the English could very well be “Awakened”, such as “Awakened Blaziken”

      Reply
      • You forgot the best one. Jolteon’s name! Goes along brilliantly with Zapdos name Thunder. It’s called Thunders.

        ….

And people think Talonflame is uninspired XD. Of course, I know that the difference being they are using words they normally wouldn’t use, so they are ‘exotic’ or what not. But yeah, Awakened does seem like it could be a good bet.

        Reply
      • According to the newly-updated official English site, it is indeed “mega”. That’s not the worst possible name by far, though.

  8. Personally I love these. Absol with wings looks absolutely incredible in my eyes and Blaziken and Lucario look pretty sweet. I am content with what they did with Mawile and the retyping was expected but what I didn’t expect was Ampharos to get a form, and it wasn’t just a normal form, the form has a type change to Electric/DRAGON which I think is going to be really cool! At first I thought the design could have been done better but it is fastly growing on me in a weird way and Ampharos is already shooting up my favourite Pokemon list. Well done on this one in my eyes GF.

Oh and as if CoroCoro didn’t hint this edition as a Mega reveal. Missed opportunity guys…

      • Oh does it? That makes sense. I kinda have had a soft spot for Ampharos but not a reason to really love it but I now do! Also only just realised that Mega-Mawile has two mouths on the back of it hahah

  9. I have no idea why, but I suspect it was cause of reading it in the comments, I had a dream where I watched Digimon….
Palmom digivolved into Togemom…which then digivolved into Orrotto….

  10. i wonder why absol and mawhile didnt just get regular evolutions that look like these cause they are stand alone pokemon.

  11. I actually haven’t read/looked at any part of this article besides the headline yet. I skipped straight to the comments and when I read NLque’s surely record-breakingly upvoted comment I knew there would be major spoilers above. It is really killing me, not knowing what this amazing and controversial scoop was, but I’m very glad I shouldn’t have to wait more than another day or two for it to be officially revealed. It sure is difficult at times like this to stick by my no-looking-at-leaks policy, but it’s worth it to me in the long run.

  12. So MegaMewtwo is the only ”form” for Mewtwo.
The other ”form” that pokebeach’s source has said must be MegaMew for Mew

  13. Before this issue of corocoro, I thought mewtwos’s new form would be a special form for itself. The megass idea sucks =(

  14. Literally have been doing nothing but talk all day about Megalutions to my friends…whether they like Pokemon or not.
    I’M SO EXCITED.

  15. As a programming student, Pokemon XY blows my mind:

    1. Rendering 700+ Pokemon into 3D models (A LOT OF MATH THERE) plus movement!
    2. Rendering all Attacks, Abilities, Effects into 3D
    3. Inclusion of new Pokemon
    4. Programming new additions such as Pokemon Amie, Megalutions to please us fans (OMG NEW PROGRAMMING ADDITIONS)
    5. Creating a world from scratch in 3D for 3DS

That is just a start. Coming from Pokemon Blue many years ago, this is revolutionary. I can’t believe they whipped this up in a just a couple of years. Kudos to all the game designers, programmers who are probably crying due to the ever-growing complexity of this game that they have to do, everyone in GameFreak, Nintendo and associates.

With that said, I’ll never turn my back on Pokemon. It is a programming feat – just thinking of how the rotation battles were programmed motivates me to study harder and learn more…

(Still waiting for a Hoenn remake yay)

    • They’ve been working on this for a good coupla years as well, probably started off with pokemon designs then as the years went on and technology improved, did all the 3D rendering

      Reply
    • As engineering student, there’s less programming going on than you’d think. All the fundamentals for 3D objects were already laid out years ago and nobody is going to reinvent the weel just because they can. You’d be surprised how easy it is to create an animated 3D model, although that is indeed thanks to all of the work computer scientists have done over the past forty years. 😉

  16. So I guess this is all we’re getting till next month?!?!? Makes no sense they’d have to release a shit ton of info and pokemon all next month….hopeing that there is more….

    Reply
    • why would they have to release “a shit ton of info”? all of this info is for creating hype so we buy the game and discover the rest by ourselves. it would be weird to reveal everything that is inside the game before its release.
