[UPD2] It seems more leaks are coming any moment, as another leaker has gotten their hands on Corocoro and is uploading some pages. New, clear, and full versions of the scans we’ve seen have now been revealed, though there seems to be more to go.
[UPD1] The PokémonKorea official site has updated with details on a playable demo for XY coming to Korea. In this, they report about the Mega Evolutions. This means that Mega Evolutions are confirmed, and any other information should be taken as real as well.
This month’s issue of Corcoro has begun leaking. With new Pokémon and more! Keep checking back as we update with translations!
On Mega Evolutions
- “Mega” Pokemon; These new supercharged versions of their previous ones are NOT traditional evolutions or forms, but happen through a “Mega Evolution” process.
- Mega evolutions are ONLY accessible during battle.
- A “Megastone” seems to be a collective term for the held items used to Mega-evolve each Pokémon. In the case of Blaziken, its Megastone is called “Blazikenite”.
- One of the gym leaders, Coruni, hold the key to these new Mega-lutions.
- Mega Pokémon have stat changes: Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, whilst Absol gets a boost to both Attack/Speed.
- Unknown what the stat changes for other Mega Pokémon are.
- Mega evolutions seem to awakened temporarily in battle by holding a megastone for some Pokémon.
Getting ‘Mega’ versions are:
- Blaziken (Fire/Fighting, ability: Speed Boost)
- Lucario (Steel/Fighting, ability: Adaptability)
- Ampharos (Electric/DRAGON, ability: Mold Breaker)
- Mawile (Steel/Fairy, ability:Huge Power)
- Mewtwo (Psychic, ability: Insomnia)
- Absol (Dark, ability:Magic Bounce)
- Not all Pokemon will get Mega versions.
More could be revealed!
New Pokémon, Miscellaneous
- Meekuru, a Grass-type Gogoat prevolution has Sap Sipper for ability.
- Horubii, a Normal-type rabbit-ish Pokémon, known as the “Digging” Pokémon has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Dedenne, an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon which is the “Antennae” Pokémon, has a new ability called “Cheek Pouch,” or Pickup.
- Speed Boost Torchic will be distributed with it’s “Mega Stone”; This Speed Boost Torchic with “Blazikenite” Distribution starts from the release date(October 12th) to January 15th, 2014.
- Although cut off, what seems to be Super Training is mentioned! As previous leaks have pointed at, completing these games seems to raise Effort Values for the Pokémon that participate.
- Also mentioned is the Master Tower, which has a connection to Mega Pokémon.
Also confirmed is that next month’s Corocoro is to show even more Mega Evolutions, alongside an updated type chart to show off Fairy-type.

I bet they won’t add any new evolution for old pokemon this gen besides sylveon. We haven’t seen any other evolution so far and with this Mega Evolution I think we won`t. That Mega Miwale could easily have been just a normal evo, and everyone would’ve been okay with that.
I guess Game Freak was thinking:
“let’s make new evolutions for old pokemon!” but then someone said
“Hey but, what if people start complaining about us touching their old darlings?
-Ok then, let’s make them temporary, so everybody is happy! – and someone else said :
-Hey and what if we make these temporary evolutions for 3rd stages and legendaries too??!!
-YEAH and call it MEGA EVOLUTION!!”
I’m still in shock and I’m not sure about it… I like Mega Blaziken but I don’t think it is needed to change starters since they are like the signature pokemon of a whole generation…
I’m surprised they didn’t reveal a Mega Zoroark. He’s almost on the same tier as Lucario, marketing-wise.

So, if they do have Hoenn remakes in the near future, anyone else think that this MegaEvolution thing is going to make the remakes so much more epic?

… You know what would be interesting. If this whole thing was a lesson towards us grabbing these leaks before the the thing officially comes out. And that GAME FREAK ITSELF is responsible for the fakes, supplying false art and working with corocoro or someone else to create these ‘scans’ that someone would leak, and it would look so authentic that this exact thing happened. EXTREMELY unlikely, but just a thought.

Heh. Regardless, true or fake, there really is nothing to worry about. In three days, August 11th here in the states at least, it will be the 12th over in Japan, and thus they will have the magazine. Hell, not even three days now, it’s near the end of the day for me, and then it’ll very shortly be two days. I’m sure we can find ways to beat the time. Like hatching for shinies, that’s a VERY productive way to spend the day :p

Yeah. The Pre-evolution Gogoat’s design in this looks almost too good to be true. It kinda reminds me of the Gogoat pre-evolution fan artwork that went around back in May….

Well, they ARE based on what we think is the Gogoat Pre-Evo shown in some of the earliest screen shots. And you can make out a fair number of details, so it would look similar anyways. The main difference I can tell is this one’s horns look like they are pointing horizontally, and just about every pre-evo art I’ve seen has the horns pointing backward, like Gogoat itself.
What if Xerneas is just a Mega Virizion?

Just putting this out there! How can MegaMawile get Huge Power? It is the exculsive and signature ability for the Azumarill Evolution line! They are the only Pokemon that can get Huge Power. Think about it!

Does seem odd. I remember reading rumors a while ago that said the evolution of Mawile gets Sheer Force – and they were right about the two mouths being pigtails.
The Pokebeach rumor also said that Mawile would be Steel/Fairy. Could be someone following up on the rumors sorta like IAMLEAKER, Part 2: The Leaker’s Revenge. Lol.

Before gen V, the Machop line’s signature ability was No Guard. Karrablast, Golett, and Golurk has this as DW abilities. Not to mention the recently announced Honedge has this as its primary ability.
Tbh, Medicham has an ability that acts similar to Azumarril’s.
Zekrom/Reshiram have abilities that are technically the same as Mold Breaker
Mega Ampharos has Mold Breaker and Mega Lucario looks like Giratina. Maybe these forms are modeled after something…. Lol.
Could these Mega Pokemon be like the clones of the first movie?
Someone earlier in the discussion on here brought up the fact that these Pokemon could be like that or Shadow Pokemon. This isn’t the first time Pokemon have been manipulated by the human race. Think about Team Cipher and stuff. You know?
I know I brought up that, though, mine was based on maybe Colress actually invented something to enhance and draw out the ‘true’ power of Pokemon, not clones.

Maybe. Anyways, made about as much sense as anything to me to try and figure out a way these work, kind of thinking that they are kind of artificial evolutions to temporarily access their full power, but also kind of fundamentally keep them the same Pokemon.
According to Pokebeach I believe, the evil team featured in the new movie was the people that created the new Mewtwo. So it could be a possibility.

Most of the Mega Pokemon will probably be deemed UBER anyway by Smogon.
MegaMawile will probably have an attack stat over 400, and since it has Huge Power that leaves its attack 800+. It probably has hideous speed.
I’m glad they have to hold the mega stones in battle to get the forms. I wouldn’t be able to take Mega Pokemon holding choice scarfs.
At least it is optional, the Megamon, if this is real. Thank god for that. It seems to be pretty limited…

I’m a bit gutted that Absol and Mawile’s are mega pokemon when they could’ve easily been regular traditional evolve forms. And why isn’t Absol Dark/Fairy?
The bunny poke is Normal, but has a lot of brown coloring on it and is known as the digging pokemon. I bet it becomes normal/ground and is this Gen’s Rattata/Bidoof
Agreed about the bunny and Mawile and Absol. I also think Absol could of done without the wings and might not of needed an evolution at all. It has 130 Base Attack, which is already quite powerful.

I knew this would become real and that it would only be a matter of time. No one has the time and evil cunning to fake this. It’s all perfectly translated, even Serebii and the other fan sites believe this. I knew from the first minute they leaked, deep in my gut, that these would be real. It’s sad to see Pokemon take an all time low with these so called “Megamon”. They are honestly the most hideous concept I have seen and I hope they remain optional at least. Thank you Mega Stones!

Well we know it’s true, isn’t it a little bit suspicious that the Pokemon Korean site released info 3-4 days before it was officially revealed.
They probably saw a bunch of people talking about it and thought that the other sites already revealed it.
