  1. So, regarding those leaks/the possibility of an upcoming direct, here are my two cents– it seems necessary, but I doubt it’ll happen, and here’s why.

Let me start off by saying that back in January, when hype for a direct was at a pretty solid high, after the mini direct hit, things started to calm down, despite the fact that the mini direct only furthered suspicions that 2018 would have a weak lineup. I’ve come to terms with the fact that Q1 and Q2 for the Switch are basically going to be filler, besides Kirby (which I’m on the fence about currently, but that’s beside the point). However, much of the community is now heavily relying on E3. To cope with the periodic let down after too much hype, much of the Switch community is now saying that of course they were all ports, and that Nintendo is going to blow out Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Pokemon, and Metroid all at E3. Two main issues with that– mid-June is often too late to hype up a game that’s due for release the same year (see USUM), and those are just plain ridiculous expectations to have.

Besides putting too much pressure on E3, the Switch is, to be completely honest, looking lackluster for the year. Of course it’s still early, but ports alone, while they will sell systems to a majority of the prospective buyers that didn’t purchase a Wii U, can’t carry the system through an entire year. They’re great filler, I mean just look at Q1 and Q2. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely don’t think that they’re going to rely on ports for the whole year, and that’s exactly why I’m saying a direct is necessary.

I guess my point is, Nintendo needs to put out a direct showcasing/teasing the new software set for release throughout the rest of the calendar year to maintain momentum and because E3 is just too late for hard-hitting announcements. That being said, I don’t actually think they will soon. We’ll probably get one in April or something showcasing FE, then people will hype up E3 too much based on unrealistic expectations, Nintendo will show off something cool but not as many announcements as expected, and 2018 will go smoothly but not great. Rinse and repeat.

      • I think it’s about time, but you never really can tell with them. All I know is, they shouldn’t just drop it on us randomly. Maybe that was to quell hype somehow, who knows? However if we did get one I don’t think we’d see Pokemon. Although they always do their own events, that could change based on how much the Switch is relying on Pokemon. I just think it’s too early to announce it based on their record (but it is a new gen, presumably, so I could be wrong). If they did put out a direct, I think it’d be mostly about Kirby, Yoshi, some indies, and showcase FE.

    • Press X to Doubt

In all seriousness, Smash is pretty much the last thing I’d expect. Animal Crossing, on the other hand, seems more likely given the recent app, and the fact that it’s been like 5 years now since the last one. Again, if either is the case, I’d think that we’d need to see it in a few months or so. Except for Smash, if it were a port, then E3 is possible, not too late.

    • This one I don’t doubt, but I’d be willing to wait for. Honestly I want them to go for a Spring release of 2019, I don’t want the game to be rushed. Though at this point I’m experienced enough to know that there won’t be much outside of the main game.

        • That’s fair. Honestly I don’t think they would’ve announced it when they did if it wasn’t possible for 2018. I know the pressure was there to have a solid E3, but it’s unlikely even for them.

      • God, why is everyone assuming that the games will be rushed? Do you actually believe they would announce a game to be released in a year or more if they had started it 3 months before? Gen 6 was started the same year black/white were released, gen 7 was started the same year x/y were released. GF is working on the Switch titles since at least 2015 years (this is somehow confirmed buy Ohmori who said he had to work on trials himself cause he had litterally no programmers available). What’s Masuda doing since 2014?

        • Perhaps it was poorly worded. I clearly don’t believe it just began development around E3, I just mean I wish they would take the extra time and not feel pressured by Nintendo to release the game for a Holiday push. I’d rather have an extra layer of polish.

  2. Here’s a discussion question that’s semi-related– what game do you think has a chance of releasing this year that’s outside of the main expectations/hopes? For example, my answer would be a new mystery dungeon game, because nobody seems to talk about that, but things like Smash, Pikmin, Metroid, etc., don’t count since they’re common topics.

  3. Well just finished my Pokémon tabletop game for the week

Took 3 hours building characters and an hour of play and we beat a horde of 5 Rattata and a trainer with 2 Ralts and 2 Oshawott all level 7

My team is good knowing I’m the only one who caught a second Pokémon. I have Sandile and Rattatta for a team

  4. I’m not sure about this fakemon design. It’s like a predator with a thin body that camouflages itself as a beachball/umrella. It waits for children/pokemon to come, then it grabs it and releases stomach Acid from its limbs, and chews with its Claws/Fangs. Brellator also can use the umbrella pole with the clay base as a weapon.

  8. Because I’m bored and I recently rewatched The Disney Brain’s video on it, I’m gonna ask a question I asked about a month ago that probably no one will answer, but I;ll stil ask anyways:If you could have a dream team of Power Rangers, who would be on the team, what powers would they have, and who would the villain and grunts be? I already answered it myself, but in case you need a refresher:
    Powers:Dino Thunder
    Red-Conner McKnight (Dino Thunder)
    Blue-Tori Hanson (Ninja Storm)
Yellow:Adam Park (appearance in Operation Overdrive)
    Black-Ziggy Grover (RPM)
    White-Casey Rhodes (Jungle Fury)

    Villain-Sledge (Dino Charge)
    Grunts-Vivix (Dino Charge)

  9. It would actually be crazy if they did a Direct on Thursday. 1/11 for the Mini Direct and 2/22 for the general Direct? That doesn’t sound like an opportunity anyone would want to miss 😛 Of course I don’t want to assume it’ll happen, but if it DOES, I won’t be too surprised.

    • I think there will be a direct this month UNLESS there is a Pokémon day announcement. Otherwise they don’t have anything to go against
