Pokémon GO’s 2018 Valentine’s Day event has finally been revealed!

To go along with the Generation III take over that’s currently happening in GO, from now until February 15th Luvdisc and Chansey will have increased spawns, and each one caught will reward you 3x Stardust! In addition, reports of Shiny Luvdisc in game are starting to pour in!

Sounds like a good time to get out and GO farm Stardust!

The fact that the 20th and 21th movies have Ho-Oh and Lugia as their mascots as a reboot of Ash begininning in Kanto and the release of r/g/b/c and g/s/c on virtual console during Gen 7 is a bit weird now that I think about it. I mean, yes it’s been 20 years of pokemon, but why Ho-oh AND Lugia? Ho-oh was in the first episode of the anime so, ok, but why Lugia now? Do they want to reboot all the movies? I’m thinking right now that they started gen 8 in late 2015 and that all these last two years were a big marketing strategy for something related to gen 1 and 2

    • I take the new direction of the films as somewhat of a soft reboot. I’m hoping that with the release of I Choose You and Pokemon the Movie 2018 it begins a trend of a alternate universe “movie Ash and Pikachu”, and new, exciting stories revolving around them without having to loosely “connect” it to the current anime. Hopefully TPCi has realized that their cookie cutter movies that feature the up to date anime cast in a random town facing a Legendary in some aspect without it ever really being part of the anime canon has gotten stale.

      I Choose You made sense as a franchise celebration being the 20th anniversary film, and I fully expected it to switch back to the cookie cutter films right after, but maybe TPCi is beginning to see the movies as less of a cash and marketing cow and more of a celebration. Because, lets face it, the Pokémon films will always fair well and make money, so might as well make it enjoyable and not animu trash? Whatever the case, hopefully they’ll incorporate Zeraora into the film MUCH better than they did with Marshadow.

    Will go one of 3 ways
    -She will come out and tell me she doesn’t like me and wants me to not bother her, despite me doing nothing (for the first time in my life I actually have done nothing wrong and couldn’t have)

    -She politely says thank you and gives me a smile that will give me a good day, even though nothing big happened

    -(Next to impossible knowing me) they want to be better friends with me and it might bloom into a more fruitful relationship… if this ones happens I’ll legit probably have a heart attack because it has never happened or come close

    Cuphead – looks incredible, the effort these guys put into this games is admirable.
    Nier: Automata – keep hearing good things about its story. Would love to check it out at some point
    Finding Paradise – Sequel to one of the best stories I’ve seen in a game? hell yes
    Horizon Zero Dawn – BOTW with dinosaurs for girls

  44. Playing videogames is hard when you work full time. Sometimes I’m too tired and lazy to go to the effort of starting it up. Which is why the switch is nice because it’s way easier to boot up than my xbox

  45. I personally think that what should replace PokeRide is most Pokémon automatically having a skill set for a situation a HM would be normally used for. I.e. a Machamp could push a boulder without the need for a move because it’s a skill it can do, or also Pokémon like Braviary can fly the trainer because of having that skill. Though, like with HMs, upon gaining a certain badge allows for a certain skill to be used outside of battle.

  49. So Lugia was officially revealed for the 2018 movie, and apparently it’s the focus (much like Ho-oh last year). Very interesting that they’re going this route. Beyond this, Lugia is going to have a “special scoop” in the next issue. What the heck does that mean? Is there any chance Lugia could have a new form like Mewtwo and be the first hint at Gen 8?

  50. Update real quick on something from last week. As many of you know I made the decision to leave my job for my health. Well so far this week I have felt a lot better. Have had a lot less coughing spells than I have had in the past few weeks. Lost count of how many I had in the entire day for a while there. Today I have only had one coughing spell and that’s when I first woke up. Hopefully this means things are getting back under control and I can start doing things normally again

  55. Sooooo Masuda apparently went back to TPC again. This is at least his 2nd time there in a month or so. He doesn’t typically go there often so this is a little suspicious. (at least he doesn’t show he goes there often) Seems like he’s doing stuff there. I would think he’d be busy at the GF offices working on the game.             he is a Admiral for a Gilnean fleet known for his legendary temper and unflinching loyal dedication to Gilneas (his home) this happened on the night of the Worgen, feral mad beasts that walked upright like man but hunted and fought like wolves, he and his men were issued to save as many citizens and fend off the wretched mongrels but their numbers grew too large and many of his men were slain or cursed, after taking the survivors to the safe zone in the cathedral to meet up with his beloved Wife amber it was too late and she was cursed, he had to make a dangerous life changing choice, die or save Gilneas… and so he slew her….but anger and sadness overtook him and gave away his position and he himself was attacked and cursed
            after becoming extremely dangerous going on a hysterical slaughter he was captured and tested on to find a cure to give him control and he had to fight with his own twisted emotions until he regained control
            after seeing the damage that he caused he claimed that Gen’warren Bladefear was exiled and the form before all will make amends as Genwarr Bloodfang

    Fortnite Battle Royal

    I’m not one for multiplayer games for the most part. I have my Overwatch and Splatoon and before that my TF2 but that’s about how far it goes for me. Fornite however is a game I hope I can add to my short list of multiplayer games. I say this because it is a free to play gamemode of a paid game competing with the wildly popular Player Unknown’s Battle Grounds that is made by the people behind Paragon. This game could crash and burn but right now, it’s a dang fun game.
    Fortnite (and I’m talking exclusively about the Battle Royal mode here) is pretty simple. 100 players parachute into a map with randomly generated loot and the last one standing wins. The aspect of this game I love the most is the sense of pressure and anxiety that creeps in as you realize that there could be another player lining up their shot while you’re totally oblivious.
    With an ever shrinking map to keep players grouped together, the actual gameplay of Fortnite is mostly just trying to get the best gear to give yourself the greatest shot at surviving. When you do finally run into another player the tension is unreal. If you’re late into a game this could be where you lose everything you have been working towards. The stakes are real.
    The game for sure isn’t perfect. The building mechanics feel a little clunky to me and the UI design in the lobby is disgusting, but non of that takes away from what a good time it is.
    I don’t want to comment on the Fortnite vs PubG thing because I don’t care and I haven’t played PubG. Both seem great. I feel I may enjoy PubG a little more just because this style of gameplay would be much tighter as a first person shooter rather than a third person shooter.
    Don’t have much to say on this one. It’s freaking great.

    • The exact same as it is now but with a gap inbetween, with the first relaunch having a lot of content. Successful Mon games are gonna be frequent releases, it’s just in their nature.

        • Nintendo would pull the exact same stuff, just with more content. Pokemon is a quick burning sell series, and it’s only really the move to console that has a chance of changing that.

          • Mm I don’t agree. Look at Uprising. I think they would’ve done something unique but probably would’ve used a lot from Gen 1 and 2. It wouldn’t be a gen 3

          • Kid Icarus and Pokemon are two very different games. One is more in line with Nintendo’s games that aren’t in the big three in that it doesn’t release super frequently and isn’t afraid to change between games. Pokemon is a marketing superpower and they can get away with a lot more and make a lot less because of how well it sold when it first came out, plus the fact it’s a collectathon makes foregoing content seen as less shocking as long as there’s new collectibles in the game.

          • Ok but this is in a reality where gen 2 was the last game when pokemania was starting to die down anyways. It wouldn’t be what it is now.

            Plus bringing Kid Icarus from a platformer to a shoot em up/action game was a huge jump and I see no reason why they wouldn’t do something similar

          • Then you’re making a totally uncharted hypothetical scenario where we can’t predict the outcome. It was GameFreak that was considering ending the series there, not Nintendo, and it was unlikely to end just because of its formula and sheer popularity.

            And its marketability would still most likely lead to more quick, consumable models because there’s so many Pokemon that have the sheer force of marketing power to make the games worth producing quickly and constantly. Yes, they’d be different if different devs did it or they took a different route because it’s a restart, but the difference between Pokemon and Kid Icarus is that Kid Icarus was never wildly popular and thus they had a lot more liberty when it came to changes. They never had to worry that changing the system would effect reception because – lets be honest – Kid Icarus wasn’t exactly popular when it came out.
