Generation III is just around the corner in Pokémon GO!
As per usual, our friends at Pokémon GO Hub have done their datamine of the latest APK and have found audio clips for all Generation III Pokémon, a new badge for catching Gen III ‘mon, and, most excitingly, a beautiful new loading screen wallpaper featuring some of the Gen III Ghost-types!
We’re not sure if the Ghost-type Pokémon native to Hoenn will be the only ones released during the Halloween event, or if the entire Generation will come at once, but one thing is for sure: Gen III is coming this Halloween!

Alola Raticate: It’s just cuter and honestly seems more rat-like since I can picture rats being dark.
Alola Raichu: Only by the tiniest bit. It’s sucha cutie
Alola Sandslash by a long shot: Definitely fixed an ugly ground by making it nice ice 🙂
Alola Ninetales: It’s just cuter and I love the fluffs. Amazing Type. finally a good Hail mon
Kanto Dugtrio: Alola may look better, but in battle Kanto takes the cake. Plus bald is nice

Alola Golem: Fixed the ugly ground by making it sweet electric
Kanto Muk: Just more like sludge which is what muk is, and its really simple but nice.
Alola Exeggcutor: The dragon typing is the only reason why it’s better
Alola Marowak: Leaves ugly ground for better fire and ghost. From PU to OU.
Kanto Raichu: Alo feels like it added a little too much, and I like Kanto’s design a lot
Kanto Sandslash: Just the colour palette makes me like it more
Kanto Ninetales: Only by a small margin
Alolan Dugtrio: Fab Hair, nuff said
Alolan Meowth: Same reason as you
Alolan Persian: Kantonian persian feel a little bland to me
Kanto Golem: Both sucks, but atleast this one don’t has a beard
Alolan Muk: The colours are amazing
Alolan Exeggutor: Way more interesting and iconic

For me I’ll do all in the line
Rattata- Both are cool, but I wish it was just Dark type
Raticate- Kanto is nicer looking (they ruined my pure dark type Mega I made for it)
Raichu- I like both, but Kanto takes lead by a bit of margins
Sandshrew- Alolan just being chubbier makes it cuter
Sandslash-Equally awesome, can’t pick
Vulpix- Alolan is Way cuter!
Ninetales- Kanto’s is more majestic so it holds my vote
Meowth- Kanto form is better looking to me
Persian- Alolan, it hasn’t ruined and wasted my time and I kinda like the Garfield face
Diglett- Equal not enough differences to pick from
Dugtrio- Kanto only cause I like the bald over hair
Geodude- Kanto for its cooler look
Gravler- Kanto’s more memorable
Golem- Both, I love both’s ideas and designs
Grimer- Alolan because his name is… Cpt. Honeybeard, the Alolan Pirate
Muk- I love both, but Kanto takes my spot as cooler
Exeggutor- Alolan, never liked Kanto’s and Alolan is funny
Marowak- I enjoy both equally because they both rule

We have a good number of Pokémon based on extinct creatures that aren’t ghost, and even then unless your an owl scientist or scroll bulbapedia you’re probably not going to get the reference

The hood means nothing, it could be attribute ( and better ) with a dark type. And it has to look like a ghost type to make it feel more like a ghost type, not have the lore of one.

The actuall reason for the Ghost type, is because in hawaiian legends owls can be reincarnations of the dead, and there’s a hawaiian legend about an archer, an owl and a rat
Which is still poorly conveyed through its design because Decidueye looks about as spiritual as the glowing orange New Jersey mom pulling her kids off a jesus statue

Um, Actually every Grass starter is based on an extinct species, so by that every Grass final starter evos should be Ghost.
Extinct owl is it, but with that logic you could say Meganium could be Ghost because Apatosaurus is Extinct too or any grass starter!

And a hood… your arguing a hood makes it Ghost type

No really tho, when you see at a fire Pkm, you can easily tell that it’s a fire Pkm. Toucannon doesn’t look like a fire type at all and it’d need a redesign.
Even with the redesign it wouldn’t work as a Tucannon Pkm, toucannons being mostly red or orange seem unnatractive as hell

Cannons are made out of metal, and heat up tok the point of being red
Pikipeck’s beak is grey

The more you talk about changing Toucannon’s type, the more I’m convinced that its current type is good enough; they went for a toucanthat looked like a toucan and added in a silly gimmicky. Normal is the typing they were searching for when making that design
I think Normal’s the most fitting for the design, but if edge alone can make an owl die I guess the toucan can be on fire :p

IMO Altaria, Gliscor, Decidueye and Dedenne are some of the worst designed Pokémon because even though they’re good designs they poorly convey one for their types visually
Dedenne I think was fairy just to showcase the new type for the pikaclone

For ground typing that’s kinda hard to do like, Donphan doesn’t really scream ground type.

This is such a senseless stupid way of judging creature design that it makes me physically hurt
They should convey their types well visually because visuals is how you’d typically tell a new Pokémon’s type as well as just making them more fitting in general lol, what a stupid response

They’re not in your Pokédex when you first encounter them tho, and knowing their types doesn’t mean they suddenly visually fit them

But the Pkms always conveyed their typing in their design tho, I mean, they supposedly made the concept and typing before they started designing it. But with Deci it seems like they went, design first typing second, and that feels wrong imo.

Sudowoodo’s design conveys a hard material and the lack of actual foliage makes it look like it’s not an actual plant, whilst bones are a common desert trope + the colour it is typical for ground types: these Pokémon look like their types based on other Pokémon we’ve seen
The explanation may be very sensible and creative, but if it’s still not well visually telegraphed – and humans rely mostly on sight, and plus you shouldn’t have to dig to find reasoning in a casual game – I still think it’s poor game design
It’s still just my opinion tho, I don’t see why people it take it personally
My point is that you really cant just take design into account when looking at something like that. Otherwise designs become stale and every fire pokemon would have a flaming tail or be orange. You really have to take concept under consideration.
There’s ‘broad designs that still convey the type in different ways’ and ‘doesn’t look like the type at all and the design actually conveys a completely different type but I guess our elaborate backstory will win over fans who like the Pokémon’

Calling it now, either Pokéswitch will be a game that pulls a BW (semi refresh) or a GS (not too much changes, more of an expansion) as game freak gets used to a home console

You say calling it now like you’re gonna make a prediction but you end up just stating the only two directions they can take ( is not like these two are the only option, is that these two are the opposites sides of a spectrum, just like political left and right)

So…who creates pokedex entries? Does the Dex have an A.I. that can evaluate any pokemon immediately and deduce information about it? Because otherwise why would the professor send you on an adventure to gather information that they’ve already written? And that wouldn’t make any sense because there are some pokemon that the professor just couldn’t have data on like legendaries. So there’s no way he/she could be writing entries for them, especially when they’re previously undiscovered like Ultra Beasts…which leads me to believe the pokedex is a highly intelligent and omnipotent force that an 11-year-old carries around in their backpack.
I always like to believe that the player is the one writing the dexes, that’s why some of them sound unbelievable, an 11 year old wrote these solely based on some random behavior of the Pkms or just rumours floating around about them
