Pikachu Outbreak-Chu Event: Mewtwo in GO, Snapchat Filter & More!

To tie in with the Pikachu Outbreak-chu event in Yokohama, Mewtwo has officially been released via Legendary Raid in Pokémon GO as an exclusive to the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan!

Shortly after Mewtwo’s first appearance in the stadium, Niantic released an official statement that it would be coming to players worldwide via a new mechanic called Exclusive Raid Battles. These work exactly like regular raid battles with the only difference being to participate in them you have to be invited to them. To receive an invitation trainers must have successfully defeated a raid boss recently at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place – meaning that it’s completely by chance and there’s no way (that we know of yet) to predict which Gyms will spawn an Exclusive Raid Battle later. The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving trainers ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss.

It was also confirmed in the statement that Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia will be returning to Legendary Raid from today until August 31st!

Pikachu Snapchat Filter

Along with Mewtwo, a special Pikachu snapchat filter will be available for the next 3 days! The filter gives you a pair of signature Pikachu ears, nose and red cheeks (and luckily enough also air brushed my skin and shaved off a good 10 pounds from my face) – if you open your mouth it activates Pikachu to charge in from the left side of the screen to give you an electric kiss, allowing your face to give off bolts of electricty before Pikachu returns to the bottom left of the screen. There is no additional use of the filter on the back facing camera.

Ditto & Mimikyu Distribution

Last but not least, in addition to the announced distribution of Pikachu at the Pikachu Outbreak-chu Carnival Parade in Yokohama, two other Pokémon are having a special distribution: Mimikyu and Ditto! Mimikyu is Level 10 with the moves Astonish, Copycat, Baby-Doll Eyes, and Splash, while the Ditto is holding a Light Ball.

  3. Today was my first full day of college! Weird feeling to be sure. Now I can look back and feel old by realizing that I began coming to PokeJungle in my freshman year of high school (or maybe earlier). Mentioning high school in the past tense is still amazing. Maybe I’m just too sentimental. Anyway, thanks for being there for me and yada yada yada. I hope to come out of this as a more directed (and less stressed) individual.

    • Enjoy you’re first year in college! It’s a pretty great year. Just remember not to get into any trouble and that college requires you to be a little self reliant. If you do the work and show up to class then you’ll do fine. Also don’t forget to have fun! Sometimes it can be a stressful in college, but the freedom you get from being in classes that YOU got to choose for a major YOU wanted to learn about can feel really good.

    • I feel you – I started coming to PJN back when I was in 5th grade when the pre release for DP was in full swing (early 2006), started working for PJN the summer going into my 10th grade year (2010); now here I am about to start my Sophomore year of college. Times flies faster than a Latios. lmao

      Don’t skip a single class (’cause when you skip even one you begin to get in the habit of doing so), do EVERY bit of extra credit that professors make available (trust me, it can really save your butt later/let you relax in one class if you really need to focus in another), and allow yourself to have some fun (but not let that get in the way of your studies)! Uni will seem pretty easy at first, but be prepared for midterms and finals – that’s when the stress hits harder than a Bewear’s Arm Hammer. Best of luck with your first year, you can do it!

    • Don’t worry, I was exactly the same way about being sentimental! I just graduated college in May with my bachelors degree in nursing, and it feels so strange talking about college in the past tense now!!!

      Trust me, college will create unforgettable moments for you, so be sure to enjoy it while you can!

  4. I want (most of) this to be true

    -Johto starters wont be getting Alolan forms, GF doesn’t find it useful to add them

    -Alolan Stantler. Goes from pure Normal to Grass/Fairy. Color scheme changes from a brown body, to a green one with brown antlers. The orbs in the center of each antler are now flowers and the antlers are covered in vines. Its stern expression disappears entirely, and is replaced by a blissful one. Its primary ability Intidimate is replaced by Flower Veil

    -Alolan Qwilfish. Water/Steel, its entire body is now an iron ball and its based off a water mine. Its tail disappears completely and is replaced by a chain, gains the move self-destruct and its primary ability is now Battle Armor. Also appears in the USUM overworld

    -Alolan Dunsparce. Goes from pure Normal to Dragon/Flying. Samson Oak explains (in-game) that this change is due to Dunsparce experiencing the intense battles in Alola which made it migrate to Poni Canyon to train itself to get stronger. Eventually, they awaken their true power lying inside of them for so long. Its color scheme changes from yellow to indigo and the blue stripes become lighter. Its wings have grown significantly and are actually bigger than the body, needle tail is now a stubby dragon tail. They can be seen flying over Poni Canyon using the Rotom Dex camera function. Lastly, Serene Grace is replaced by Frisk.

  5. You know what I just realised? The seven trial captains are probably what were meant to be the Gym Leaders, and then either Kahili or more likely, Ryuki were probably meant to be the eight

    Think about it

    – There’s only one empty lot on Melemele. Could’ve been Illima, because Normal is a basic enough type to go first. You also battle Illima and his difficulty is around about the same or higher than our recent first Gym Leaders

    – There’s three in Akala – one in Konikoni (where Olivia, Mallow, and Lana live and just before the grand trial/after the last trial, one in the Royal Avenue (where you meet Kiawe the first time, and close to his trial site) and Heahea (the first city you arrive in and probably would’ve replaced Totem Wishiwashi)

    – There’s three empty lots on Ula’ula. One’s in Maile, where you battle Nanu (although if they were planning on Kahunas and Gyms, you could’ve fought the Gym when you entered the island and Nanu when you leave the island as you do in SuMo). One’s in front of the Hokulani Observatory, Soph’s trial site, and another is on a route close to the destroyed Tapu Village as well as the Aether House – where Acerola lives.

    – Finally, there’s one in Seafolk Village, and Mina is one of the Seafolk (and possibly the only other permanent residents of Poni seeing as she couldn’t exactly be the Trial Captain if she’s constantly heading off to sea). She doesn’t have a trial at all, so maybe she was the empty lot in Maile before being moved to Poni and retconned as one of the Seafolk/she was already one of the Seafolk so they moved her to her hometown?

    – And lastly, Ryuki. He’s a Dragon specialist who comes out of nowhere as one of your title defense opponents. Maybe he was dropped as a trial captain because they thought he looked too weird to be one? It can’t be a coincidence that there’s eight trial types (the six trial captains with trials, then Mina the Fairy trial captain and then the unmanned Dragon trial) and then we have another random Dragon user, right?

    • Not only that but in a recent interview GF said that the trials were a last minute decision and that they struggled to find designers to design the trials (that’s why some of them are weird like Sophocles’ and Kiawe’s).

      So my guess is that they were supposed to be gym leaders and have gyms but at the last minute they decided to have trials instead so it can feel more like Hawaii and be more unique and they made the gym leaders trial captains (most of them) :0

    • I actually thought about the exact same thing when I first saw the Gameinformer video. However, I was either too lazy or busy to post it myself at the time. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts and you are not alone in thinking that this is a possibility. Now what I’m wondering is if they will bring back Gyms, keep the trials and replace the empty lots with other stuff, or do a combination of both in USUM.

  11. So I had a thought about the cover legendaries. I’m unsure as to what ability they would get as both Prism Armor and the respective abilities of the cover legendaries have their own merits. My thought is that both of the USUM cover legendaries ability is Prism Armor and they will both have a special z-crystal. This z-crystal will be a powered up form of their signature move but also will give the USUM Cover legendary the ability of the SM cover legendary. Thus, when it is holding the Z-crystal, it will have access to a z-move, get a buff from an item in the form of an SM legendary ability, and Necrozma’s original ability. Does this sound too far-fetched or do any of you think it is feasible? Please rate this idea on a scale of Wishiwashi (base form) to Mega Rayquaza.

      • No. It would have one ability. The z-crystal will just have two effects. One for the z-move and another effect that will replicate the old ability of the respective SM legendary.

    • Hopefully not getting sucked into work. I requested off from my one job a couple months ago for this week, but in recent weeks I’ve started possibly doing some freelance work for a new guy I was introduced. So now I’m hoping he doesn’t come to me with anything (at least this week) so I can actually enjoy myself hahaha

          • It’s different from any other anime I’ve watched. I usually watch stuff like death note code geass, psychopass. It’s slice of life + mystery Elements. Artsyle is pretty and all the characters are good so I’d say watch it.

          • Hmm interesting. You know what’s a really good slice of life show? Orange. It really tugs at your heart strings. I recommend fully once you have the time. It so good!! lol Anyway you’ve got some good taste anime wise. Those shows are to notch. I’m actually re watching Bleach myself now. It was my first love and despite how it ended I still love it hahaha

          • I watched a bit of bleach but then gave up because it’s way to long for me. I’ll give orange a try but I’m usually into stuff with a serious plot, but i liked hyouka so maybe I’ll like orange

          • Orange is sort of a serious plot. It has lighthearted moments, but in the end the characters goals have some serious consequences if they don’t get what needs to be done done. It’s real good stuff lol

          • Swimming in an ocean is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m​ pretty good swimming in a pool but i imagine an ocean would be way different

          • It’s saltier, the waves will be either be huge or nonexistent and you’ll feel dried out and grainy after a while (I’m still picking sand out of my ear)

  19. Ok so I’ve just started Sun (took a hiatus) and I’m blown away by the games. Easily the best games so far. Of course I still need to complete and get to post game but I love the creativity of these games.

  20. I need to vent
    I really just hate people sometimes, I spent an hour and a half organizing my department, I step outside to help a customer and when I get back I see a gross dripping bag filled with broken mustard bottles right on top of all the clean stuff!
    I spend the next hour trying to figure out who did it and it was this old slow Italian janitor I’ve never met before
    I tried to chew him out but he just could not understand what I was going on about and spoke in a super low breathy voice that nobody could understand…
    So now I had to clean, write up and dispose of everything all while the guy who did it feels no shame whatsoever….
