Pokémon GO Fest Begins! [REWARDS UPD]

Today marks Pokémon GO’s first ever real life event!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yktrQAJNbAc

REWARDS UPDATE: Despite difficulties at GO Fest, players around the world have completed all the Window Challenges and unlocked legendaries! Lugia will be given out to all GO Fest ticket holders, and Lugia raid battles will start to roll out worldwide over the next two days. Since Team Mystic contributed the most during the challenges, Articuno Raid Battles will start to roll out in the same time frame as well. In addition to the legendary birds, the following GO Fest bonuses will be active around the globe for the next 48 hours:

  • Double Stardust
  • Double Candy
  • Double XP
  • Increased Pokémon encounters
  • Reduced hatching distance
  • Reduced buddy distance

Located in Grant Park on the coast of Chicago, Illinois, Pokémon GO Fest promises plenty of Pokémon fun for ticket holders:

  • Catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some that have never been seen before in Grant Park (regional exclusives, as well as Unown are strongly hinted at)
  • Unlock the exclusive Pokémon GO Fest Chicago medal for your profile page
  • Take advantage of the Pokémon GO Fest walking course, lined with PokéStops that award special 2 km Eggs which can only be obtained in Grant Park
  • Cool off and recharge in one of the three team lounges, where you’ll meet your fellow Instinct, Mystic, or Valor teammates
  • Commemorate the experience by snapping photos with your favorite Pokémon at the many photo opportunities around the park
  • And much more!

Can’t attend? No worries – you can still take part in the fun! The millions of PoGO players across the globe can work together with the thousands of trainers in the park to complete challenges throughout the day and unlock amazing in-game rewards globally! Earlier this week Niantic revealed that the first ever Legendary Pokémon will be one of these rewards – but it will only appear in Grant Park if trainers around the world successfully meet the capture goals set throughout the weekend. If trainers in Chicago manage to defeat the legendary, it will start appearing in Raid Battles everywhere.

A special Twitch and YouTube livestream (see above) for players that are unable to attend is available to view for the latest news coming out of Pokémon GO Fest! Including Challenge Window updates, exclusive interviews, and the reveal of the first Legendary Pokémon!

Will you be taking part in the global awards and challenges, or are you one of the lucky few who will be attending the festivities in Chicago?

  1. Well either everyone is just being super quiet or they were beamed into a horrible demention of hideous doom

Well g’night I might try and draw some non Fakemon stuff to see if I get my mojo flowing

  2. Somehow I completely skipped C rank going from C- to C+. I did pull of an EPIC win just before then, so the game must have witnessed that.

      • this game is so beautiful.
My first hours in this game, not know exactly whats ahead of me and unsure of my abilities are just the most amazing moments I’ve had as a gamer.
        Its magical

        • Before Breath of the Wild (let alone the Switch itself), I felt like Nintendo was losing their touch in many ways. In the end, it turned out they were preparing an unprecedented onslaught of quality games, only headlined by Zelda. I don’t think I could ever underestimate them again.

          • For real. I wish we knew back in 2015/2016 just how amazing Nintendo’s future would be.

And when I see people that didn’t like the game or thought it was ok, it breaks my heart because they didnt have the experience i did. It’s just so good. I dont know how others didn’t see it the same way. i’m glad for the most part people loved it though

  3. Y Brave Bird not a common move for Decidueye ?………. I think it has the best design of all grass starters but its stat is just bad.

    • Here’s #095 Aloan Onix,
      https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1a2b4e1717f1cf2f321056c4742e76e32481c992efc15e5b11063f05afd20529.png
      Type: Rock/Ice
Height (Imperial): 26’8″ ft / Weight (Imperial): 518.4 Lbs
Abilities: Slush Rush/Magnet Pull (HA: Clear Body)
      Descriptions:
      (Ultra Sun)
After tunneling into Alolan mountains by accident,, its body collected snow and ice to form a thick sheet of slushy permafrost armor. Its horn transformed into a tool for magnetically catching prey.
      (Ultra Moon)
It is much faster than it’s Kantonian counterpart and “slither-skates” on snow, navigating with the magnetic pole on it’s head, which also serves as a decoy. The permafrost on it will never melt, but smooth out.
      Evolution path:
Alolan Onix > Ice Stone exposure > Alolan Steelix > Mega Evolution < Mega Alolan Steelix

It's not perfect, but what do you think?

      • I hate to say this but it’s……decent (except the design it totally needs work, it needs to be sleek and thinner with hard glossy ice, and for Arceus’s sake don’t give it a candy cane horn)
Onix already possess magnets in their brain and everyone knows magnets work better in cold environments since the atoms move slower and is most precise)
And the ice part isn’t bad I mean they eat their way underground and add it to their bodies and cold icy material would meld with its body and gradually lower their intolerance to cold and eventually learn to live with it

My only qualm is the aspect of Mega Evolution on regional forms,

      • Tbh I really like the design, but I know it’s meant to be slushy but it looks like it’s melting. The north pole so looks a bit cheesy and out of place 😡

  5. I wish there were more Alola forms based on Volcanic substances (adding fire type). With 5 main volcanoes in hawaii, you’d think they would put an emphasis on it .

    Reply
    • I wanted Alolan Grimer to have that
I mean it’s not that far off, since Volcanos are high in sulfur which is famous for its horrible odor and everyone knows Grimer likes filthy and hot places, so as they feed off the sulfur it changes their chemical composition making it heat resistant and extremely flammable, so they wouldn’t exactly turn into lava but their sludgy bodies turn a tar black and they have several lit flames on their body, mostly its head and shoulders,

  6. ok Baller tips and tricks
-Baller does not activate instantly it needs a second to inflate
-You cannot move any other direction when crawling up a wall, only straight up
-it is not invincible, it will break if you are pegged from all directions, if your reflexes are fast enough puff and pop activate and detonate to try and wipe out attackers
-also the blast isn’t super wide
-IMPORTANT the Baller will not detonate after the clock runs out, life if you wanted to make a mad dash at the end of a turf war and you think it’ll pop when its done
it’s such a downgrade of the kraken

  7. I feel like somehow Splatoon 2 puts more stress on the Switch than BotW did. It heats up much more quickly and gets a lot hotter than if I’m playing BotW.
