Pokémon GO Fest Begins! [REWARDS UPD]

Today marks Pokémon GO’s first ever real life event!

REWARDS UPDATE: Despite difficulties at GO Fest, players around the world have completed all the Window Challenges and unlocked legendaries! Lugia will be given out to all GO Fest ticket holders, and Lugia raid battles will start to roll out worldwide over the next two days. Since Team Mystic contributed the most during the challenges, Articuno Raid Battles will start to roll out in the same time frame as well. In addition to the legendary birds, the following GO Fest bonuses will be active around the globe for the next 48 hours:

  • Double Stardust
  • Double Candy
  • Double XP
  • Increased Pokémon encounters
  • Reduced hatching distance
  • Reduced buddy distance

Located in Grant Park on the coast of Chicago, Illinois, Pokémon GO Fest promises plenty of Pokémon fun for ticket holders:

  • Catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some that have never been seen before in Grant Park (regional exclusives, as well as Unown are strongly hinted at)
  • Unlock the exclusive Pokémon GO Fest Chicago medal for your profile page
  • Take advantage of the Pokémon GO Fest walking course, lined with PokéStops that award special 2 km Eggs which can only be obtained in Grant Park
  • Cool off and recharge in one of the three team lounges, where you’ll meet your fellow Instinct, Mystic, or Valor teammates
  • Commemorate the experience by snapping photos with your favorite Pokémon at the many photo opportunities around the park
  • And much more!

Can’t attend? No worries – you can still take part in the fun! The millions of PoGO players across the globe can work together with the thousands of trainers in the park to complete challenges throughout the day and unlock amazing in-game rewards globally! Earlier this week Niantic revealed that the first ever Legendary Pokémon will be one of these rewards – but it will only appear in Grant Park if trainers around the world successfully meet the capture goals set throughout the weekend. If trainers in Chicago manage to defeat the legendary, it will start appearing in Raid Battles everywhere.

A special Twitch and YouTube livestream (see above) for players that are unable to attend is available to view for the latest news coming out of Pokémon GO Fest! Including Challenge Window updates, exclusive interviews, and the reveal of the first Legendary Pokémon!

Will you be taking part in the global awards and challenges, or are you one of the lucky few who will be attending the festivities in Chicago?

  2. So for all the different “playstyles” in pokemon which type would you use for each Different for each. I’ll start for an example.
    Gym Leader- Electric
    Elite Four- Poison
    Coordinator- Dragon
    Trial Captain- Fairy
    Evil Team Admin- Ghost
Does that make sense? Can you guys think of any more? What would yours be?

    • Totem Toxapex

Trial is to be quizzed on different Pokémon’s poison properties in a zoo, battling said Poison type. Totem Toxapex is battled where the Mareanie holding pool overlooks the sea, jumping into the tank to fight you.

Gets a boost to all stats, can summon Dragalge and Golisopod

  3. Sigh, no gyms near me in this tiny Scottish village. And no way I can rush off to the nearest ones in the next 2 days. So annoyed that I’m gonna miss out on the legendary Pokemon. :'(

    • Sucks that you can’t get it, at least it isn’t as bad as it was a couple of years back Pokémon wise for events :v

      • Back in my day…. God, I remember when I had to travel over four hours to the big city , just to go to an event. Now every event is just done through game stores and it’s easy as pie. :’)

Ah well, you’re right at least. Hopefully the next legendary event wil be announced more in advance and I can plan to visit the nearest town in advance.

        • Even in the big city it was super annoying, especially since it was specific stores and the like. Think it was a whole UK wide issue tbh XD

          • God yeah, I remember going all that way and it was so pitiful, just a tiny little area in a shopping mall, with a TV playing a few Pokemon episodes and 2 people with link cables and a device giving you the Pokemon.

          • I only remember going into a shop having my DS out and having to ask at the counter, the codes are such a life saver :0

    • This raises so many questions. Why is Fire Punch SE on Tentaquil? Is Shadow Pikachu secretly Reggie? Where did the sponsors go?
Until next time on Pokémon USUM!

  5. Last kinda shitposty question from me tonight

If Mega Evolutions were given actual names, what would you call some?

Just gonna get the obvious one out of the way: Mega Ampharos would be Amphrodite or Amphabulous
