Pokémon Stars: The 4 Facts We Know

With just over one more day until the big Nintendo Switch press conference (and don’t worry, we’ll be covering it!), fans are understandably excited. Pokémaniacs are particularly keen to hear about the rumored title that brings Pokémon Sun & Moon’s gameplay to the new console. While nothing has been outright confirmed, here is our mega list of rumors about Pokémon Stars (or Eclipse):

  • New Pokémon, Alolan Forms or Mega Evolutions: The game could add up to 20 (a number dropped by Laura Dale, gaming journalist) brand-new Pokémon or forms/evolutions to Alola. Whether or not these will be compatible with Pokémon Sun & Moon is currently unknown.
  • Improved Graphics: GameFreak didn’t skimp in Sun & Moon, but their successor will apparently utilize the Switch’s improved capabilities to breath HD life into Alola and its inhabitants.
  • Compatible with Sun & Moon: While the new Pokémon might not make it to your copies of Pokémon Sun or Moon, there will be ways to transfer existing Pokémon to Stars through an improved Pokémon Box app. Many are hoping that Pokémon caught in the console version will also be able to be transferred to the 3DS games as well.
  • Switch-Exclusive Features: Pokémon Stars will not only bring improved graphics to what we experienced in Sun & Moon, but will also introduce new features not found in the portable games. While not mentioned in the rumors, the animations found for walking Pokémon do hint that a companion system will be coming back to the overworld similar of that in Pokémon Yellow or HeartGold & SoulSilver.

This is mostly a compilation from various Twitter sources from gaming journalists, the initial leak, and also a Reddit AMA. The logo is an original creation of our wonderful moving and not official. If you missed it, don’t forget to check out for new Alolan Forms we’re hoping for!

Tell us in the comments about whether or not you expect Pokémon Stars to be revealed at the Nintendo Switch presentation!

  6. Kiawes trial was funny, I really enjoyed it. I beat Salazzle with just my Dartrix, she Plucked the flesh from the bones of the summoned Salandit and eventually finished Salazzle by cutting her up with a Razor Leaf, after leaving her Astonished. I did have to use my Pickup Lillipups as sacrificial healers, mostly to remove Toxic.

  7. I’ve gotten 2 6IV Oranguru and 16 5IV, and yet every single one of them has a perfect Speed IV. This is statistically improbable! I just want a slow Oranguru!

  8. Comment Question:
If you were in charge of making one Z move for an existing Pokemon in Stars, what would that Pokemon be, what’s happening during the move, andwhat would the name of the Z move be?

      Weavile
      Weavium Z
“A freezing area appears while the opposing pokemon is encased in Ice, then Weavile Moves its claws to cover its face then in a split second shows it disappear then slash the opponent in half.”
      Name: Freezing Super Slash

    • Farfetch’d. Farfecthium Z. Giant Leeks erupt from the ground around the opponent, Farfecth’d draws a special giant Leek Blade. It the jumps around on the Tree like Leeks like a ninja from Naruto, launching itself at the opponent from all directions and slashing at them, ending in a large final strike that leaves a giant cut in the ground. Probably called something like Leek Lashing or Onion Overkill.

      Zoealus

Acid: They are born in the leaves of Leppard trees, as the newborns camouflage well with the berries. They leave when all the Zoealus grow too big to share the tree.

Base: They scuttle through Leppa orchids, creating a carpet of red, yellow and green. Very few Zoealus survive to evolution due to how tasty they are.

      Pommancer

Acid: Pommancer are believed to what influenced early humans to farm, as they use their claws to cultivate, plant and harvest. Due to this, great respect is given to Pommancer in rural areas.

Base: Pommancer are often in fighting over the orchids they make, as one group accidently infringes on another. The losers are an easy meal for Flying-Type Pokémon.

      Cancechant

Acid: Whilst its regular form is a vibrant red, green and yellow, its shiny form glows with the luster of gold. It is said in another region that three ancient dieties fought over a shiny Cancechant.

Base: Sick of being consumed, Cancechant has evolved to be produce toxins with its excess energy. Despite being packed full of poison, it tenderly cares for its plants and its loved ones.

      • Scapyro

Acid: The term ‘Scapegoat’ derives from this Pokémon’s name, and the name given to Pokémon similar to it. Guilty people and Pokémon seem drawn to accusing Scapyro.

Base: Small embers can be conjured from its curly horns, but its ability to manipulate fire is very poor. Naturally, inexperienced trainers blame Scapyro for this natural flaw.

        Caprafice

Acid: It was used in the past for sacrificial purposes. Due to this, wild Caprafice have an immense distaste for humans and has a hair trigger temper.

Base: It can blow flames from its horns as a musician can blow sound from a trumpet. These horns were once filled with food to be feasted on after a ritual.

        Masaytr

Acid: If they see their young in any trouble at all, they will recklessly insert themselves into battle. Thus goes against their usually quiet demeanor.

Base: Silent in most cases, it’s believed to be planning how to give to those they love, or take from those who’ve wronged them. Their horn flames burn blue.

        • Ocularva

Acid: Its eyes are black and beady. Staring into them is said to give weak compulsions that can take hold if caught by surprise or given to young children.

Base: It is a timid creature that needs to spend a lot of time in water. Due to this, trainers are advised to carry around at least one other Water-Type with Ocularva.

          Eftele

Acid: They can control the minds of young children and older people with weak wills. It can only do it shortly, so it uses it as an escape method.

Base: They now spend their time exclusively on land, although with a heavy preference for damp areas or those high in rain.

          Tritonorus

Acid: They have the most irresistible mind control of all Pokémon, but it cannot be maintained for as long as others such as Malamar. Sometimes, Tritonorus hypnotises people and Pokémon for its own amusement.

Base: Amphibious, it can spend extremely long periods of time on either land or water – up to months at a time. It uses its psychic powers to amplify its movement in either terrain.
