Pokémon GO Gearing Up For Something Big

Several leaks and announcements are pointing to Niantic gearing up for something huge in Pokémon GO!

Pictures, screenshots, and more have popped up from a confidential notice for Starbucks employees about a new sponsorship deal with the popular coffee shop beginning on December 8th. This sponsorship includes making most, but not all, Starbucks locations a Gym or Pokéstop in game and the introduction of a brand new Pokémon GO inspired Frappuccino! But what’s bigger than the appropriately Raspberry flavored blended drink is that the employee notice says “Pokémon GO is about to expand with new Pokémon” and a “new update.” This, alongside an official partnership with Sprint to make 10,500 locations Gyms or PokéStop adds to the hopefully growing list of sponsorships, and the possible introduction to Generation II Pokémon.

But if Gen II is just around the corner, what about the still omitted legendary Pokémon from Gen I? What do you think, will this holiday season mark us being able to catch Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile and the rest of Generation II in GO? Whatever the case, the update on Dec. 12th will definitely shed some light on the matter.

  2. I finally beat the game, and it told the story of Lillie, after all. I’m really happy with this, but leaving Nebby is the most stupid thing GameFreak did in SuMo.

  3. I SRed for the first time in my life for about ten times to get a female Rowlet so I could name her Hedwig. Decidueye’s ghost typing is especially relevant here. :'(
    Lycanroc midnight form is Lupin.
    Cutiefly is navii
    Dewpider is Aragog
    Alolan raichu is Alphys

  4. I finished the main storyline of SM and oh my god this is the best gen yet. The story is so great compared to the other gens and I loved every single bit. Lusamine is such a great character and I loved her interaction with Lillie and Gladion, which are some of my favorite characters of gen 7 too. I found the captain of Poni Island such a lazy attempt to do something different, but well, she’s one of the most minor characters, so I guess that’s fine. Guzma was really great too, and I loved Hau. The E4 was pretty hard as well, harder than usual. I liked how they used recurring characters. I just wanted Kahili to be someone else, she came out of nowhere (like most E4 trainers, but oh well). I wanted a main Flying type male character unlike Falkner. Overall such a great game, this definitely was even better than my prior favorite gen (gen 4). Now I’ll stop boring you with my thoughts. <3

    • I liked Team Skull a lot. They were funny, but also sad. There was that one scene where two guys were attacking a bus stop… so much frustration on their part.

I didn’t really understand Guzma’s reason for going with Lusamine though.

        • I mean, I get that he wanted to be strong, and his family was mean or too strict with him… but going to another dimension with some scientist woman possessed by a space jellyfish seems kind of weird. Being a cruel gang leader I can understand. Ultra Wormhole has me drawing a blank though.

  5. Oh the one thing I hate is that I can’t use Silvally since it’s my favorite Pokémon this gen, but I’m glad I got to use Decidueye and Drampa, such great designs.

  6. I’ve officially finished the main story in Moon, and WOW, the last time I was this impressed with a game was in Gen 5 lol. The story, the difficulty, and everything in between was done so well, I have almost nothing to complain about. I do wish a few Pokémon were available a little earlier, and I wish we hadn’t gotten so few regular (as in non-legendary) Pokémon this gen, but that is usually the case with most of the games anyway.

    • Yeah, I wanted a Jangmo-o to raise from a low-ish level, even if I had to hunt for it like the much-sought after Bagon. By the time they show up, they evolve right away. Something like in HeartGold where I wanted a Larvitar (which show up low-level late in the game) but I managed to snag one early in the Safari Zone. Still mad about Houndour (only in Kanto? Really?)

That’s why I traded for a Drampa and bred it in this game till I got one I liked that I could name myself. Ironically, he’s the youngest member of my team.

      • Yes, this exactly! Houndour, a Johto-native Pokémon, only being found in Kanto has always been one of my biggest pet peeves. I never understood that.

  7. So when I went through Poni Island and finally reached the Battle Tree with half my Pokemon fainted and most weak HOPING for a Pokemon Center I was dismayed when and Red and Blue met me instead. Blue immediately challenged me to a battle before I could heal up and I remembered: he hasn’t changed a bit, the jerk. He almost beat me, but fortunately my Incineroar loved me enough to withstand a KO and his Arcanine fainted itself with a Flare Blitz.

I had to laugh. THAT’s the vintage Red / Blue stuff there, not them being there.

  9. Toxapex was the most used Pokemon on Showdown last month. Followed by Alolan Marrowack.

The rest of the top 10 are just UBs and Tapus.

    • yet ive been destroying those on battle spot with a team of pokemon no ones using. alolan marowak gets eaten by my goodra, Metagross vs tapus = GG, bewear tanks UB hits, especially behind the aurora veil set up by ninetails, and speaking of which, the great and terrifying tapu bulu hates 100% accurate Hail boosted Blizzards. Fairy/Dragon/Steel is a solid core this gen with all these guys on everyones teams. I’m running dual weather, and its insane how hard Araquanid hits with liquidation and choice band and water bubble in the rain.

      • Goodra vs Marowack I can’t say much but sounds like hit and miss. Marowack with Thick Club hits Goodra quite hard on its weaker defensive side.
Metagross does well against Bulu and Lele, but doesn’t Koko beat it? and I can’t imagine it enjoys switching onto Tapu Fini repeatedly.

Anyway Battle Spot is 3v3 (unless this has changed). The 6v6 singles is quite a different game.

    Mudbray
    Alolan Diglett
    Sandygast

Ughhhhh this sucks, nearly every other type gets plenty of types to work with but Ground gets the raw deal (Dark and Ice got screwed but they got decent Alolan Forms)

  12. Wow the Switch runs Breath of the Wild in 1080p and a solid 60fps. Meanwhile XB1 and PS4 IPs can’t even maintain 30 fps lol. Nintendo beating them again after 6 years of falling behind.

          • Maybe I’ll have to put him in. He was originally on one of my teams but as they released more Pokemon he faded out… And Kommo-o was on my team until the day before it was released then I kind of dropped it… It didn’t work with my teams… and I saw the move pool it had and I wasn’t impressed.

    • I’m in postgame so I’ll just list the team I used to defeat the final boss with.

      Pandora (sun)
      Primarina
      A. Persian
      Magnezone
