Pokémon GO Gearing Up For Something Big

Several leaks and announcements are pointing to Niantic gearing up for something huge in Pokémon GO!

Pictures, screenshots, and more have popped up from a confidential notice for Starbucks employees about a new sponsorship deal with the popular coffee shop beginning on December 8th. This sponsorship includes making most, but not all, Starbucks locations a Gym or Pokéstop in game and the introduction of a brand new Pokémon GO inspired Frappuccino! But what’s bigger than the appropriately Raspberry flavored blended drink is that the employee notice says “Pokémon GO is about to expand with new Pokémon” and a “new update.” This, alongside an official partnership with Sprint to make 10,500 locations Gyms or PokéStop adds to the hopefully growing list of sponsorships, and the possible introduction to Generation II Pokémon.

But if Gen II is just around the corner, what about the still omitted legendary Pokémon from Gen I? What do you think, will this holiday season mark us being able to catch Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile and the rest of Generation II in GO? Whatever the case, the update on Dec. 12th will definitely shed some light on the matter.

  1. I really want to try that new drink. It sounds really interesting. Also I have never been more in love with a Pokémon game and Sun and Moon have revitalized my interest in the series and I can’t wait to see what the future of the games looks like. Hot male characters like Kukui and Guzma, awesome Pokémon, even the ones I didn’t like at first have grown on me, characters from past games, and the gesture that something big is about to happen in the Pokémon universe.

    • I just hope at some point they finish the project AZOTH thing, it honestly really bugs me that Zygarde has no plot development. other than that, these are probable my favorite in the franchise now.

      • There is no telling what Gamefreak originally had planned for the Gen 6 and Gen 7 connection. I’m sure it was affected by a major NX game. Who knows though. If the main series game rumor for the Switch is real though, I hope they play more on AZOTH.

        • It is looong gone
Face it Gamefreak skewered the story just to have those Pokemon in there
They didn’t bother to make it better or give other characters significant impacts

        • Well unless they’re gonna pull a BW2 its just gonna be there just to be there

I mean the story fell apart halfway through I MEAN HONESTLY WE GOT ONE SINGLE UB BATTLE MAINSTORY AND THAT WAS IT, AND FOR THE ULTRA DEMENSION WE JUST WALKED HALF A ROOM AND FOUGHT LUSAMINE, NO GLADION STORY NO TYPE NULL DEVELOPMENT, JUST BUTCHED HALF-ASSERY

BECAUSE GAMEFREAK IS LAZY, THEY DONT GO ALL THE WAY ANYMORE JUST SHELLING OUT GAMES AND LETTING SMALL DETAILS COVER UP THEIR LAZINESS

          • Lol, it’s true. We meet and battle Gladion, then the next time we see him he’s telling us to get out of his motel. Then the next time we see him, he’s warning us about not letting anything happen to Cosmog. Like what? xD

Watch Stars focus on Necrozma, and Zygarde/Kalos are left to be what could have been. Even Dexio states Zygarde is a Pokemon that protects the Kalos region and questions why it is in Alola xD Yet it does nothing in Alola!

          • i wouldn’t mind if it focused on Necrozma, hes mysterious enough to hold my attention. i just hope Stars is on a much grander Scale, being on a home console and all.

          • I am not easily swayed by new game’s charms to ignore such a slapdash story
Stars better be real and Gamefreak better get their shit together

The plot of Stars should be fairly similar to Platinum and BW2, where its 3 years after the events of first game where a new family arrives in the Alola Region and he/she takes on the Island challenge, but they learn that the Aether foundation under new rule is completely good now, but a splinter group now plots to bring about the Ultra Beasts by all sorts of crazy terroristic plots, something involving Fallers and how you are one, yadda yadda Zygarde comes in and goes berserk which was the splinter group’s plan all along

          • Yes they are, honestly whatever happened with that whole climatic battle between Tapu Koko and UB-02? Any deeper reason for Type: Null? slapping random old favorites just for cameos and nothing more, just very lackluster story that everyone is fairly blind to

      • Project AZOTH is nothing but a glorified plot to return the world to its primeval state by literally having the Primals wipe out every living thing on the planet
So realizing that is bad they abandoned the project then those buttwipes restarted the project and through some convoluted plan to warp a meteor to strike the planet so it does it for it…..

        • i know that, but now that zygarde exists… why didn’t it interfere? same with the situation in kalos, i don’t see why zygarde isn’t doing anything major in these plots, and i kinda wish they’d just go all out with it instead of “hey its a fetch quest with no plot!”

  2. great, now I’m forcing the battle tree to have mono water teams so they can deal with araquanid. i really wish the loadouts were random instead of focused on stopping you. still though, araquanid buddy, doing 75% to bluky waters with a water move…

    Reply
    • They should just send out Rocky Helmet Alomola and Wish Stall you :p

To be fair if bulky waters are the best answer to Araquanid you just need an electric or grass type in your second slot and you’re good to go.

      Reply
      • they aren’t. my araquanid set deals about 75% damage to common(ish?) bulky waters (I’m in the battle tree). Milotic takes about 75%, Slowking takes about 80%, gyarados about 60% (after intimidate). this is all from my Araquanid’s liquidation, not even a neutral hit, and he picks up these 2HKOs, while tanking hits like a boss. I gave him a speed decreasing nature just incase they want to get silly and try trick room (figured he wont be outspeeding too often anyways, so it wasn’t worth investing in.) he partners with goodra, M-Metagross, and Shiinotic mostly. (sometimes ninetales gives him an aurora veil to work with)

  3. so, would anybody be willing to hold onto some of my mons if i restarted my game, until i could get to a point to trade them back?

  4. Right, since I’ve had 5~ days away, I’ve kinda got a rough time frame of when I’ll be back, and why I’m on my little hiatus.

Basically, kinda sick of the Pokémon Fandom as a whole. Don’t get me wrong, I honestly wouldn’t change a single thing here, or about anyone here, but there’s trends in the fandom that just bug me to the point of mild anger, especially in regards to opinion-which does sadly come here, but if this was my only exposure to the fandom’s flaws I wouldn’t really care, I’d just suck it up and deal with it. However, it is wide spread and extremely irritating, which is why I’m taking a break.

Secondly, and more importantly, school’s busy as hell right now. The sciences are starting assignments, I’ve got my second half of my English folio to do, and Modern Studies and Health & Food Technology are having their counterparts to assignments and folios coming up soon. I’m mostly taking time off to compose myself with all the spare time I can afford before it all collapses on top of me.

As for when I’ll be back? Don’t expect me to post any time except to wish you guys a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’ll probably be back sometime in mid-to-late January, but even then it’ll probably be less then my regular activity due to the fact my Prelims (basically practice exams) are coming up in February. I only get away with how frequently I post because I’ve mostly been focusing on minor studying and the weather has drove me and my friends indoors. I’m also probably going to post less because, as typical as it sounds, am making it my resolution to live a healthier lifestyle: which along with a diet consists of plenty of physical activity. I’m not going to have this ‘awkward lanky teenage boy metabolism’ forever after all :p

Third reason is dumb but I’ve literally just bought Bravely Default and the first two Magnus Bane books so I’d probably be barely posting anyway.

I only really made this post because I didn’t want anyone worrying about me or thinking I’m gone forever (as much as some of you would enjoy that :p) because my last post had a very ‘I’m leaving. Bye.’ vibe to it.

See all ya huge nerds later, see you later Feraligatr, in a while Krookodile, adios, sayonara, I’m hungry, be back soon.

  5. I recently finished breeding and training up a utility Stoutland, but after some failed VGC 3v3 battles, I’ve decided it’s not best for my gym. Battle Royal and doubles, however…dang. That thing is messing with everybody.

  9. Did I ever mention how much I hate december? Cause I really really hate december.

Don’t get me wrong I love christmas and the break, but I’d much MUCH rather have a normal school month. It’s completely unfair that because my teachers didn’t plan well, I’m completely drowning in work right now. I haven’t eaten lunch on a weekday since november because I’m trying to chip away on large assignments, and tackle medium size assignments that the teacher “forgot the assign earlier” that are due in less than three or so days. Not to mention that this is the first year of my life where I’m not “the gifted kid”, I just feel dumb this year. I had this genius idea to take all advanced classes this semester, and it’s really beating me up. I’m getting terrible sleep, and I’m not eating enough because of school, it’s almost literally killing me. The worst part? Even on break they’ll assign huge projects, going agaisnt the term “break”. It’s not called “hiatus from school, but just as much work as school”. What is it now, the 10th? When will it be over already?

Rant over, sorry you had to read that, I just wanted to get it off my chest. I feel a little less stressed now, so I’m glad that helped. Everyone else having similar experiences with the worst month of the year?

    Reply
    • 1. Eating is important. I’m sure you know that already, but really you shouldn’t skip eating to work. I used to do that too, except I’d go entire days without eating, and just working. It sucks and it makes you more stressed if you continually work all the time. Take some time off to relax, even if that’s just eating. 30 minutes or however long it takes to eat isn’t going to kill you — not eating will.

      2. Recognize that teachers are people too. Understand that they make mistakes. If they forgot to assign something, then yeah you can blame them. But what good does it do? It doesn’t change the fact that the due date doesn’t change, so you just gotta deal with it. Also, someone forgetting to assign something isn’t characteristic of the month December, so I wouldn’t hate the month because of it. If all your teachers happened to all forget to assign something, then that’s something we call a coincidence. I’m not sure how much scapegoating you’re doing, but I’ve never had a teacher forget to assign an assignment, let alone more than one at the same time.

      3. Everyone feels dumb once in a while. You’re not alone. But what you’re forgetting is that you’re in advanced classes. You’re not dumb. And I don’t know what grades you’re getting, but remember that a C corresponds to being average per class. Getting a C in an advanced class still means that you’re doing well. You’re not failing. And if you’re so concerned with being the “gifted kid”, then I urge you to drop that mentality. You don’t need to be at the top of the class. You don’t need to be perfect.

      4. Teachers give work over the break because you have a long time to do it. I’ve also never heard of a teacher assigning something over the break and collecting it on the first day back; usually you’re given an extra couple of days to a week to finish it. I don’t like it either. I don’t know anyone who does. And I don’t know any teacher who likes grading that much work. It’s just something we all have to deal with. Furthermore, it’s important to realize that teachers don’t coordinate giving a ton of work to do at the same time — at least not from what I’ve seen. It just happens to build up at times for one reason or another.

      5. It gets better when you get to college. You’ll still have days where you just spend the entire time working. But, at least in my experience, you’ll have more time off.

      • Your advice works if I’m thinking rationally, but. . . too busy. I appriciate it though, it means a lot that you would take the time to write all that for my benefit.

    • It’s definitely difficult for sure. Not crazy, but I’ll have to give two presentations and take a few tests next week. One thing I don’t like about the midterm scheduling is that we have the three weeks in December leading up to Winter Break, but midterms are AFTER two weeks of doing nothing and likely forgetting a lot of important details. It would be much more efficient to start midterms BEFORE break, giving us one less thing to worry about when we get back. Although, for me, there are three more weeks after break to prepare for midterms… eh. Whatever. Best of luck on your work and hang in there. 🙂
