Pokémon Sun & Moon Details Revealed on NicoNico Stream

A stream of Pokémon Sun & Moon (coming next month to the Nintendo 3DS) on Japanese video site NicoNico recently revealed a few small details about the pair of games, which can be found below:

  • Shaking grass returns to the games, but its function may differ and there’s a new animation of the wild Pokémon jumping out
  • The number of Trials has been confirmed as seven
  • Ilima’s trial was previewed and featured the player finding Rattata in a cave, after which they were awarded with a Z Crystal
  • Rotom Dex will show you your Pokédex completion percentage after catching a Pokémon

These small tidbits just make me want to play the games more! Not too much longer to wait…

    • I’m glad you haven’t quit working on this. I enjoy perusing the maps and analyses that you have in such an organized manner. I’ve yet to see anyone else accomplish this so well.

      • Thanks.

I try as much as I can to stick to existing evidence and to not make too many assumptions (e.g. I haven’t gone into any of the theories about the large tree on the south west island).

If there’s more stuff in the next trailer I might as well add that in if there are definately still people who visit.

    • Wow, this is great! Makes me even more excited about what is to come, and it really goes to show that the region isn’t as small as some speculated.

  1. Only seven trials, and most of them will involve some stupid task like finding rattata. I was excited when I heard gyms were gone, but this is really disappointing to hear.

  2. I hope Totem pokemon will be tough. I want them with like, max IVs, good EVs and nature, Super powerful moves, higher stats than regular forms of that pokemon and I want the little minions they summon to be really strong. Like I want my team to be wrecked by these things

    • yeah tough luck with that, they’re gonna be dumbed down for the snot faced younger players
because add a stat buff and helpers an inexperienced player would have his team thoroughly assaulted

        • Same here, sorta. I mean it seems pretty clear that they aren’t one in the same, but it does seem likely to have some sort of story connection.

          • Yeah, though UB01’s connection to Lillie seems much clearer than the other supposed connections between the other UBs and other characters.

          • Yeah. People are really starting to reach with some of the new one’s. Like the wire one is Guzma because the spark it has as a head is white, and the one with a mouth belly is clearly Hala because its fat. Genius!

Really at this point it seems people are just trying to see pattern’s where none exist. If anything I fully expect that the UB’s are pokemon of another universe, hence why we can catch them and in reality their designed to resemble specific pokemon of the past. Like UB 02 likely are just alternate versions of Solgaleo and Lunala, since it would be the easiest reason to explain why their version exclusive.

      • No idea, I only know (in ascending order) Jack Black, Kristen Schaal and Weird Al Yankovic himself. I had to look up the others and forgot their names right afterwards 😛

          • Its a very funny show, one of my favourites and a proud fan since the pilot episode (its in its 8th season now) but I initially started watching it because of him lol. Makes me drool tbf 😛

          • A) I’m pretty sure it doesn’t air in Britain
            B) I don’t get what’s supposed to make him attractive, he just looks like some random old man 😛

          • I’m pretty sure Netflix has it, at least mine has the first 6 seasons but I don’t know if Netflix UK and Netflix NL share the same library.

As for the attractiveness, he looks odd in this video tbh. I like him more in Modern Family, this doesn’t look like his fashion style at all.

    • Not necessarily. We don’t know what they give us for completing their trials. It is more or less some sort of badge, but it doesn’t seem connected to that d-pad thing. If anything, those things are simply the badge that all trial captains have to wear.

  3. Wait a second it just hit me
No gyms? No Elite four then champion? No victory road? Find Ratatta? Take stupid pictures?

On the other side: Ultra Beasts, Kahunas and totem pokemon.

So far It’s not looking excellent for Sun and Moon

Also a thought I just had, what if the 8 UBs replace the 8 Gym leaders??

  4. Has anyone else noticed the abundance of Machamp in the demo? At first it didn’t really seem intentional, but the NPC that sprained her ankle, or something like that, encounter sort of drew attention to it.

    • I think there’s some significance tied to the empty lot. Machoke and Machamp are often used for heavy moving/lifting, so maybe there’ll be some construction there.

      • I think it’s just a hint to that machamp smoothing out an area of land in Kanto tbh

They’ve been going Kanto-crazy this time.
        Surfing Raichu = Surfing Pikachu
Alolan Forms = All Kanto Pokemon
        Trainer is from Kanto
        etc

  5. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve seen Bottlecaps mentioned, so are there any new theories regarding how they’ll be obtained? Festival Coins? Rewards for good photos of Pokemon?

  6. Question: I have a shiny Manectric (His name is Taranis) and I’m not sold on what Evs to train him in and what moves he should get, I plan on using him as a mega at some point and he has perfect IV’s in HP and S.Def

    Thoughts?

      • I’d happily take work

Maybe then I’d have my own house and not have homework for five different subjects, four of which I’ll never use again.

          • Cos kids haven’t experienced being out of it :p

Honestly school and college was so so…but I enjoyed uni so much, now work life is depressing

          • Your mistake is thinking you can move as soon as you start working. Take advantage of living with parents as long as possible. Of course this depends on the individual in question. But I think renting is a massive waste of money.

          • It has its downsides like my dad continually staying up until 1/2/3am on Fridays, Saturdays and sometimes Sundays or during the week which completely throws off my sleeping, but otherwise it’s better than the alternatives.

          • I have literally no downsides at the moment. Help them out with the bills and groceries every now and then (probably averaging <£100 per month), and in turn I get a roof over my head, and three hot meals a day. Sure as hell better than paying a complete stranger £750-£1000 per month.

          • I’m afriad I have to agree, if you’ve got parents who can afford to keep you at home it’s much cheaper to just pay them a bit here and there than it is to rent a flat.

Renting a flat is flat rental + food + power usage etc, living with parents is usually just a fraction of the household use which generally works out cheaper because there’s more people making the use of the resources (e.g. heating a whole house for 5 people vs heating a whole flat for the sake of 1).

The less you spend on rent and stuff, the more you have to save up for a house/flat.

          • The thing is though it’s not like flats are only disadvantageous

I’d have my own space, and wouldn’t be kept up by whatever antics my sisters and mother are getting up to.

I wouldn’t have to compromise living with other people, for example having access to the toilet whenever I want to or being able to use the kitchen to cook when I want to.

It’s an opportunity to move closer to where my work could be, or at least relocate to a more advantageous area for travel and work.

And finally, but this is just becuase I’m a social person and it’s thus a subjective advantage, the freedom to invite over who I want, when I want, for how long I want. Me and my friends frequently host movie and game nights but it’s always had to be at one location due to parents and siblings and they’ve always been cut short in their prime due to being teens

          • It would be a lot more costly though – freedom comes at a price. It would mean less video games, less nice food, less luxuries etc.

Also staying up for as long as you like gets mentally destabilising after a while and the more you do it the harder it becomes to get into normal human hours.

There are positives but there are plenty of negatives.

          • I agree there are a number of advantages, but I would rather sacrifice these advantages for a short period, so i can work towards greater advantages. I honestly never understood the prospect of paying such high amounts per month to live in a place that at the end of the day doesn’t even belong to you. Plus having to then save for a property is extremely difficult with such high living costs.

      • Not sure if it is tbh, the Pyukumuku thing seems like a random minigame that has no bearing on the plot or anything.

I might add it later though, I’d need to get ahold of the video of the minigame though 😛

Also I’ve just realised, that bit above might be a golfing green. I’ve had that thought before but thought it was too odd, but now we know about Kahili from the demo it’s quite possible it is actually a golfing green 😛

  7. Yeah! Litten3 is apparently a mixed sweeper with shitty defenses….like Charizard, and Typloshion, and Blaziken, and Infernape! Yeah! Finally something new. Even if it’s Fire/Dark is basically another houndoom. Yeahhh -.-
