  1. I expected flint to place better considering I’ve seen a lot of fourthgenners here and he’s really awesome and plays a bigger role than e4 members usually do

    • you better make sure it is still a Ground Type
literally all Ground types were ruined by Alola
Snowshrew didn’t need to be steel
Marowak has no business being a ghost
and i know golem is ruined
Dugtrio’s fabulous locks don’t work on me, and if its not Ground i will be severely pissed

      • Whilst I do agree that Alolan Sandslash is debatable (I personally feel the typing is suitable), I’d argue Alolan Marowak has a great reasoning for its typings.

      • My mistake was I didn’t read the last part of leakers comment he said:”Its stats, Abilities, and attacks are that of a Pikachu”……yeah he didn’t talk about type but I feel it could ve Electrice-Ground it still contact with ground by the way.

  2. So I’m absolutely dying of boredom at my dad’s house, so random question time again

Have you guys ever been in a situation where you noticed a behavioural similarity to a parent? When me and the rest of the class were catering to parents of award winners at our school, I had my arms crossed (which is quite a common behaviour for me) as I wasn’t doing anything and I was terribly bored, so my teacher jokingly called me out for it (since it is quite an inhospitable position) and kinda laughed it off. And then, in comes my mother, obviously bored with waiting to get in, arms crossed and all.

          • to each their own, sinnoh as a whole was forgettable to me, thats why I cant wait for a remake that makes me actually like it

          • I started with gen 2 because I was too poor when gen one came out to afford it, but then I got pokemon red a month later and I have played every game since and been obsessed with pokemon as a whole. I have a lot of issues with gen 4 though, starting with the starters being my least fav starters. I desperately tried to force myself to like it but I just couldn’t, it may not be the gen itself that I dislike but perhaps the games themselves

          • Honestly I’m curious as to why you dislike Cynthia so much haha. She’s got a pretty badass team, imo. Her role in the story is about as involved as any other champion. Her theme is also pretty sweet. Alder is pretty cool too though, tbh.

          • Well truthfully I think she’s the queen of overrated everyone always seems to put her on this pedestal and I never understood why, plus her team has two of my least favourite pokemon on it, Garchomp and Lucario (least favourite pokemon probably) I have no thoughts on her theme though, its just kinda there. I also don’t really like her design at all, she seems more like a girl cosplaying as an umbreon than a bad ass champion like the others. (Iris was bad ass kinda, until she put on that weird dress.)

          • I think people put her on a pedestal because she was the first female champ and she also posed a challenge. Her design is more or less alright. Also, you hate Garchomp!? Iris is cool, but she did nothing for the story in B2W2, which was a bit disappointing. It’s just like you reach the elite 4 and find out she’s the champ and hasn’t done anything this whole time a giant airship is shooting ice crystals at a city very close to where she’s located…

          • I dont hate any pokemon or really anything about pokemon, I just don’t like certain things more than others. Also I didn’t really find her all that challenging compared to other E4 I think the reason a lot of people think the games are getting easier is because most of us have been playing pokemon for so long we know how to win in game

          • Well even with my overleveled team that included a Reshiram in Black version just last week I barely made it out of that battle with a victory. Her team is very well balanced with some hard hitters.

          • Yeah but thats in a different game where she’s basically a final boss like Red. I thought we were talking about her champion team?

          • Idk, I feel like after Gen 5 is when things got easy. But that’s also easy to say considering B2W2 had challenge mode. But gen 6 made leveling up easier and only gave the gym leaders about 3 pokemon each while the E4 only had 4…shame if you ask me.

          • I loved the change to the EXP share, but you are correct they should have more than 3 pokemon after at least the 4th gym, but if you ask me thats probably because we got so few pokemon last gen

          • I don’t mind the change to the exp share either, although it’s clear that it made leveling easier. I feel like 8th gym elader should have at least 5 pokemon and if you want a real challenge, the E4 should have full teams.

    • Cynthia is going to curbstomp, it’s not even funny. Lance has a shot at second place, maybe, depending on if he’s more popular than Steven or Blue, which I doubt he is.

  4. Once you’ve got the results for the champion, you should post the most popular gym leaders of each region, most popular elite 4 of each region and the most popular champion and make a league like thing!

  5. SPOILERS

Im still honestly super pissed about not receiving a full ice line this gen that’s new. Ice needs all the help it can get- its probably one of, if not THE, weakest type out there, and its one of the least populated types too. One of the reasons types like water are so powerful is because they have good strengths and okay weaknesses, that’s fine. Not everything can be powerful against everything else. But there are also so many water types with so many different type combinations that you can put water on your team to be a sweeper (special or physical), they can be defensive, etc.

Gamefreak said they want to balance out the types and so they just ignore one of the types that needs the most help. Im pretty upset. Ninetales, Sandslash, and MAYBE the yeti crab are all we got right? STUPID. We dont even know if the yeti crab will get anything- I would have said the first evo was water from the get go so who knows what this will be. Likely ice, but who knows.

Sorry I keep complaining about this… I just always thought we would get more but man… now with those leaks…

    Reply
    • The worst thing about ice pokemon is that most aren’t given good stat spreads. That said, Yeti crab looks to have real potential and I hope it’s good. It’s a big shame about ice and dark getting the shaft this gen though. Why can’t they just make 3 or so lines for each type per gen? They said they go by picking pokemon designs they like but I say that system just kinda sucks because we still get ugly pokemon like the anchor.

      Reply
    • I think the worst thing about the leaks is that its throwing Snorunt into the game once again as like the designated ice type you find, don’t get me wrong I love that little triangle but it seems like they put it in so often and it just doesn’t really give the regions a feeling of variety. I was also hoping for more new ones this gen

      Reply
    • I agree. Thinking about it… and Sneasal/ Weavile are the only ice types I’ve ever used and I’ve played pokemon since day 1. lol

      Reply
      • People complain about fairy being OP and I’ve said this before but if you gave fairy a weakness to ice, it could make ice that much more helpful on a team. Better stats could help them too…

        Reply
          • It’d be one more thing to help it though. Maybe get rid of one weakeness or add some resistances. Who knows, having no new pokemon in the type doesnt mean they wont change type strengths and weaknesses.

          • But there’s dozens more. Grass has plenty of good stat spread, starters, and combos that many can get by with a grass on their team.

          • I think ice should lose a weakness to fairy. I mean, if you’ve ever tried punching ice, you know it hurts a lot. xD

        • Fairy need to at least lose the resistance to bug and maybe add a dark weakness. Dark is only strong to 2 types yet now gets 3 weaknesses? I feel like it’d be cool if fairies were both weak and strong to dark. It’d make me feel better about the situation. Ice I think is solid as is in terms of typing, 4 weakness and 4 strengths.

          Reply
          • It should resist a lot since ice is pretty hardy. Snow and ice can destroy a lot for a long time in nature. Im thinking it should at least resist grass, bug, fairy.

          • Yeah, def should resist grass at the very least. Bug makes sense although bug is kinda in the same boat as ice most of the time lol. Idk if it needs another nerf atm.

          • True. Bug could be super effective against fairy. That could help it. Maybe the justification could be that bugs and fairies dont get along in nature so the bugs hate fairy or something idk.

          • Im pretty sure fairies like enslave bugs or at the very least treat them like pets and stuff, so like, it wouldn’t really make the most sense

      • I think the Alolan lines that are ice have me really wanting to create an ice team eventually, they are just so greatly designed and up until now there haven’t been enough that I actually like to use them but no I will be

        Reply
        • I always wanted a hail type, but I feel sandstorm is far superior since rock types gain a defensive boost. Maybe one day ice types!

          Reply
          • Hopefully Litten3, Toucan, and Diving Bell Spiders are all Dark-Type

Like I know it sounds weird since it’s vastly different from Fairy but I actually really like dark and the mistreatment actually bugs me

And its not even just down to Fairy, it’s GameFreaks continuously shafting of a different type every Gen which really needs to be fixed because it’s becoming really noticeable in these small gens

          • I’m betting spider guy will be bug/dark. Which is a big bummer cause I love all the bug pokemon in this gen and my OCD wont let me repeat types Dx I’ve wanted that typing for a while though.

            First world probs

          • I’m the exact opposite, I find mind repeats and will do them if I like many Pokémon of one type

I was gonna do a Fairy Monotype for my first run actually but then Comfey and Mimikyu didn’t evolve and I’m terribly indifferent to Satanmushroom

          • I do like it because it adds variety to the type and kinds fits the ‘creepy fae’ category… But as a mushroom? REALLY?

          • Thats my sadistic child you’re talking about, just because he burns things and hears voices doesn’t mean you should pick on him

  6. Also, I feel that IF this is all we get (unlikely IMO), steel got the shaft as well. Not as bad as dark or ice, but enough to be noticable.

  7. Am I the only one who feels like they’ve used a lot of Ice-Types? Off the top of my head, I’ve used both Snorunt Evos, Glaceon, Vanilluxe and Mamoswine, and that’s just what I remember from my teams on bank right now

  8. So I was wondering for a good long time what pokemon Ultron would be best represented by and it just dawned on me: Durant. It works so well I feel stupid for not realizing it sooner.
-Ultron is the product of Antman
    -Steel coating
    -Red eyes
-Ultron’s design is even supposed to be ant-like with the antennae.
    -Extremely aggressive and angry

    Must use Durant soon.

    Reply
      • Still disappointed…like I thought the eyes looked really cool based on that amazing first AoU trailer they dropped and then when the actual movie came I didn’t like them as much. And he wasn’t powerful enough! He didn’t have like any feats. It could’ve been a more emotional story if they explored the relationship between him and tony. At least that movie gave us a great re-envisioning (lol pun) of the Vision. The final scene with him and Vision was nice, although too short.

        Reply
        • I felt pretty much the same way. I thought Ultorn had some much potential that when un utilised. The trailers made the movie seem so much deeper that what it was. I felt it was pretty underwhelming overall.

To quote HISHE ‘Age of Ultron? it was more like a week at best’, ‘Yeh, should have been the minor setback of Ultron’

  11. The Last 2 Gens have been a real great way to give something special to Lapras. It’s a shame neither time they did.
Honestly I think it would make a could Dragon type, either Ice/Dragon or Water/Dragon.
Or we’re gonna go radical, Water/Fire, with a Big Volcano on it’s back.
I’d say it’s still viable to use but lots of pokemon with megas are tbh.
But I guess it’s good to get somekind of spotlight this gen, I swear I’m only gonna Switch to Sharpedo only when needed and go straight back to Lapras.
Anyway here is some lame thing I did because we had a lesson years ago where we had to modify an existing character, it’s back story is that it was an ancient one that changed into this form using a special stone in the chain around it’s neck. (This was before X/Y and OR/AS even existed.) It’s awful. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3a9496d53db6b79c68bbe0fab69a540d70caa065bc046bd59a953812f16b3d80.jpg

  16. I have many prediction about Alolan Dugtrio type

1- Water-Ground type u can realize Alolan Dugtrio soil looks darker than the original so maybe it get wet, im the demo we so it in another tiny island it looks it kinda cross the sea.

2-Electric- Ground so maybe it has hair to charge it self …..I believe one of Tesla theory talk about electrical grounding(I am not sure about the name on english) but it talk about how discharge the electricity into the ground….so that could work.

3- maybe the darker soil mean he will turn to rock type.

4- ppl talk about Pele theory ….that’s mean it could be Fire-Ground, I have this idea before but now I don’t think so cuz Alolan Diglet is catchable at 1st island while no volcano there.

5- it loos fashionable so maybe Ground-Fairy.

    Reply
    • Just make it Ground for god’s sakes
I only got 3 actual Pokemon to use for a Mono run and one of them isn’t even a true ground
Hell if this keeps up i might have to freaking use outsiders…….consisting of the one ground type i’ve never used on a main game……………….Wor….worm….*pukes*….Wormadam…………..why does Gamefreak hate me…..they could’ve made Passimian a ground/fighting type if they shifted the fruit for stones…………………………………………………………………………..

      • yeah, i may switch hippow stats so he can take water attacks. My main strategy is to paralyze as many pokemon I can with Liepard and then let Primeape, Girafarig, Pyroar, and Zebstrika clean while Hippow is my defensive to switch from OHKO from those pokemon

If I knew some people in the homebrew community I’d ask them what direction IEEE floating points round to by default on the 3DS.
Then again, they might just be using integer arithmetic, in which case the result will always be floored because of the way integer division works on a computer.

  25. 7 trials makes no sense. We know of 4 trials on Akala and 1 on MeleMele, so that would mean each island other than Akala only has 1 trial. Maybe they just thinned the trials out during the early part of the game and the story arc.

    Reply
    • Actually, Sophocles was never pinned down so it’s possible he’s on Ulaula. And seeing how small and uninhabited Poni looks, it only having one trial isn’t surprising

      Reply
      • Yeah, forgot about that, you’re right. My theory is that they’re cramming most of the trials inbetween the beginning and the story arc.

    • 7 trails (not sure if this includes Totem Pokemon or not) and Kahuna battles.
Honestly I was expecting 15-20 trials in total, unless they are actually long trials that take a while to complete.
Kahuna battles are just glorified Gym battles. But I’m wondering if there is E4 equivalent.

      Reply
        • Maybe who knows could be anything.

I’m picturing the First Island as:
          Trial 1 – Totem Gumshoos
          Trial 2 – Collect something
          Trial 3 – Take Pictures
          Grand Trial – Kahuna battle.

          Finish around lvl 20-22

          • But my honest hope is that it’s not linear.

And we have to remember that Team Skull, Aether Foundation and the UBS will be playing a big role as well

          • I dunno, Akala has at least three Captains and Ulaula is much bigger than Melemele, as well as the fact Totem Gumshoos is Level 12 whereas Hala’s Crabrawler is Level 15.

      • There is the “island challenge champion”. Hopefully we get some sort of E4 though, it’d be boring to just have the champion battle (if it was easy at least).

        Reply
    • Considering you get a z crystal for each trial i really thought there would be one for each type or at least a combo of trials and kahunas to cover all types. Sucks a bit as we already know at least 6 of the 7 trial captains and 2..possibly 3 or even 4 of the kahunas 🙁

      Reply
      • To be fair though, Trial Captains aren’t as important spoiler wise as their Totem Pokémon as those are the bosses of the trial whereas the Captains are pretty much just guides and stuff, and we only know three Totems out of seven (two out of eight counting Totem Ratticate).

        Reply
        • I suppose but they are still the gym leader equivalent this gen and normally we know about 4 out of 8 before release and no elite 4… unless the elite 4 and Champion are still a thing and we just dont know it yet then we know a lot more than normal without even looking at the datamine.

    – Reconfirms that Mega Evolution is post-game.
    – Ride Pokemon replaced HMs, because they felt more natural.
    – Time was changed to encourage trading.
    – You could buy clothes with money instead of Festival Coins.
    – There will be a lot to do during your quest before and after becoming the Island Challenge Champion.
    – Designing Pokemon takes up a lot of time.
