  1. This was the best episode so far, It was honestly so amazing, Shelly’s character was just top notch and amazing, and omg she has abs. Archie on the other hand was made to seem more like a buffoon then he is in the games with a very interesting voice. THIS WAS SO INTENSE I LOVED EVERY SECOND!!!

  2. Well…..shit…..Kyogre making Lugia look like a little bitch. It’s kinda funny though how a kid with a puny sceptile can take out this absolutely colossal leviathan whale thing lol.

  3. Out of all the evil teams Team Aqua really didn’t think their plan out well enough. I mean what did you think would happen if you caused torrential downpours like that….

  4. Archie is a massive ham, that voice is really OTT
Also what’s up with his eyes? He looks drugged up.
Shelly sounds whiney and wears way too much makeup.

At least Kyogre was cool, the cracking animation was nicely done, as wad the bit where it surfaces. I feel sorry for the wingull and the sea creatures.

Glad to see the pokemon were making animal noises again.

That plot made no sense, but at least Kyogre was cool.

    • I know all those poor pokemon and dat little Spheal went and got its head bashed against the rocks?. The plot made no sense because Archie is a moron that couldn’t make a good plan if his life depended on it.

  5. Sagastle should’ve been Sandygast’s real name
Also I swear to Gaia if Alolan Dugtrio isn’t Ground I’m going to be majorly ticked
Because I’m running low on mono teammates
    Mudsdale
    Pallosand
    Ground Silvally
And Alolan Dugtrio (if that’s Ground)
Leaving a gap in my team

I know for a fact that they’re going to screw up Alolan Golem making it Rock/Steel or shudder Rock/Electric if that stupid lodestone theory is right, they basically ruined all my favorite Kanto Ground types with these stupid Alolan forms

  6. Damn this episode was good, Archie’s incompetence and voice aside

Seeing Kyogre being that powerful really inspired me to get back to writing that Pokémon fic I’d been working on.. For all of two seconds before realising I’m lazy af

  7. I do think that one thing that should spawn from these shorts is more backstory on characters, especially Archie & Maxie.
They teased us with the photo with Jirachi and Shelley however what drives them to being obsessed with Groudon & Kyogre. How does the leader of their respective team find their admins & scientists etc
Give me N level exposition and I’ll be happy!

  8. Oh my god this was breathtaking. The animation, the voice acting, it was all spot on. The ocean waves and the went seemed primal as Kyogre. Archie talked and acted like the megalomaniac tough pirate he is in the games. Kyogre’s movements were terrifying, yet serene and it just all tied together to create a great piece of animation. One of the best shorts so far. Definitely the best animation wise

    Swallowed whole by Kyogre.

This has to be my favourite episode so far. If only because they managed to fully capture the kind of destruction Primal Kyogre would cause. Something I feel the games never truly managed.

      • Since trainers have to be 11 to do the Island Challenge, and Ash is confirmed to be 10 in the S/M anime, I reckon we might get a birthday 🙂

        Reply
        • Already brought this up the other day.
Got shot down by someone telling me aparently Ash had his birthday in the anime once and then they reset it back to 10 or something.

          • Yes, In Johto Ash had turned 11, once mentioning it was a full year since he set off, celebrating a year since he met Pikachu. Several other times it was mentioned. His Age is constantly in flux, funnily it’s only been constant since the start of B/W, in which it was stated he was Ten and nothing contradicting this has been said since. So hopefully he will be 11 again.

  12. Guys help, I’m planning out my tertiary team for my Greek Deity run for Sun and Moon and I can’t find a good Pokémon for Hestia (who’s described as the goddess of the hearth, home, and family).

    • I haven’t watched these episodes because when they first did that small arc of this a few years ago I saw clips of the Squirtle/Charmander fight and I nearly quit Pokemon because it made me sad and uncomfortable.

        • Like what if they showcase the use of guillotine. I would literally bawl. I am so sensitive I know but its just. It kind of blows away the childhood fantasy of them not dying and stuff.

          • These do seem a bit more tailored to a mature audience (sorry, I don’t know how else to put that), but they still haven’t been too bad.

          • I am nearly twenty two. I’ve always considered myself very mature for my age however I don’t like seeing things hurt and or attacked irl or in fiction.

          • Yeah, that’s what I meant when I said “I don’t know how else to put this”, I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

        • I don’t think Squirtle/Charmander fight should be censored. I think iut kinda showed how disgusting and deadly battles can be if you don’t put love and care behind it. Maybe I’m just reaching for reasons because I don’t like censorship of art

  13. so i have a little non-pokemon esque question (but still relates to it)
Say you were sucked into some kinda fantasy realm and the realm’s deity grants you a Guardian Familiar to assist you in your travels
it is composed of three animals and a Element (Fire,Water,Wind,Earth,Lightning,Ice,Plant,Metal)
    what would yours be?

    • A White peacock twice the size of a human male, with Dolphin echolocation, and a jaguars intelligence.. Flower oriented. Roses and Cherry Blossoms.

      Reply
        • I was thinking its was more defensive, its feathers able to shield me and the scents of the flowers were hypnotic and or projected illusions. Shunran from Inuyasha combined with the peacock villian from kung fu panda 2

          Reply
          • Yup, peacocks are my favorite animal in the world exotic cats my favorite domestic. Plus Jaguars are very intelligent they also have the most humane execution method of all animals by biting the back of the skull crushing it and severing the spinal cord instantly killing.

          • hmmm if there was only way to mix em all together
what about a large cat with large wings sprouting along its limbs and a splayed tail that holds more feathers but a simple plant peacock speaks for itself

          • Well I might just end up drawing it. Its hard for me to describe because otherwise I would write a two paragraph description. Its very ornate, delicate, majestic, and feminine.I would imagine the Cherry blossoms and Rose vines intertwining with the feathers every time it spread out it would scatter the petals on the wind the sweet scent intoxicating others. I can’t think of anything else to be honest.

          • and any other abilities i was thinking
One special attack that helps battle
a Field ability: mount, climbing, breaking stuff
and a buff that increases one of your powers

          • If I ever actually got superpowers I would assume they would be based on personality or demeanor in which I would probably get pheromonal persuasion or a toxic death kiss based on either side of my mentality. Even though I would want Marluxia’s flower powers.

          • that’s all well and good, but my idea was you get sucked into a fantasy realm
the realm offers you a ancient familiar to protect you
the natives of the world recognize the familiar and offer to train you in a variety of classes
and yadda yadda save the world from evil as dictated in legend

kinda like pokemon with fire emblem

    • Mine would be a a huuuuuge avian/canine creature, the fusion of a Orange Beasted Falcon (head, wings proportionate to the thing’s body), a husky (white and feathery on the top part of the body, orange and feathery on the front, black andnfurry on the bottom part of the body, and dog ears-the colours aren’t husky like, but the shape of the features would be), as well as a peacock for the tail feathers, which would be black and white with straps of gold.

      It’s be a wind Elemental.

    • a Stone Bear/Armadillo/Mole
a towering bear with a powerful set of 9inch claws, and a overlapping leathery shell which it can fully curl into a ball

I’ve heard people say that the strang souvenir is the Tapu Ula Ula when closed. I’ve people say that it isn’t from Alola. So I’m here to settle the score.
(Ok so nothing actually PROVES it’s from alola except there are major hints, such as it being from far away, like Alola is, and I mean come on, how could a tiki not be from Hawaii?)

    • It’s possible that it’s generic, represents all 4 Guardians.
Or that it’s what one originally looked like at that point in development.
Though it could be another legend OUTSIDE the regional dex.
We have all the new ones in the regional Dex, but the National Dex isn’t there, like Gen 4 there could be new ones, but outside the regional dex, like Heatran,Regigigas,Cresselia and Phione, this might be where a Third Legend is if one exists.
I’d love to believe this isn’t all either but gotta accept it until shown it isn’t really.

      Reply
      • Nope. Represents “a pokemon venerated as a protector” not “pokemon venerated as protectors”.
I will not give up hope that there is more, can’t accept this! I’ve seen too much evidence to think this is all.

        Reply
        • Then go for Second or third point, either it resembles what one originally looked like in development, or that it’s outside the regional Dex.
Or that it’s what people in alola imagined it looked like who hadn’t seen it, as it seems only a rare few actually do see them. Meaning it, to those people, could resemble any one of them. Theres very simple explanations that just “Oh it looks like this so the real thing must”. Remember this game has been in development since at least B2/W2 were released.

          Reply
          • National dex I’d go for, but if it looked like that in development why is the item unchanged in SM? Also they don’t look one bit alike, so unless design phase did a 180 then I feel like this proof.
These are sorta stretching it IMO.

          • These ideas aren’t stretching it at all, they’re giving viable examples. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes, designs changes a lot and I’d imagine the Guardians would have been hard to design. Theres not really much Viable evidence for the existence of more pokemon within the regional dex as they all can be explained.

However if you want my opinion, I think it’s very Possible the Strange Souveneir ISN’T an Island Guardian. The Island Guardians seem to be based on Aumakua, Gods who manifest as Animals. My Point is, the Strange Souveneir isn’t based on one of those. It’s actually closer to the 4 Tiki Gods, Ku, Lono, Kane and Kanaloa. Granted the 4 Guardians may have basis in these too, however, theres bound to be at least 1 more Mythical, unless this is a really short Gen, so either if there is no more outside the regional Dex, theres bound to be one in the Mythical section, and it could very well be this. Perhaps in charge of the other 4.

Any of these ideas could be possible tbh it’s about thinking of all the possibilities based on the facts we’ve been given.
I have no doubt however, that we will be given a reason in S/M.

          • Yeah, I can agree with this. I’m just using what I can to try and prove this isn’t all. It’s not like there’s no evidence, there’s plenty as far as I’m concerned.

          • I’m compiling a list rn, but it’s incomplete, I have 3 reasons I haven’t typed up yet. I can post what I have if you want?

          • Sure but, I’ll take some guesses based on what I’ve seen.
            1) No Fossils – Theres no Guaruntee, sure I think it’s odd but they don’t need to exist, I don’t buy the “Hawaii has no fossils” idea either, France doesnt have T-Rex
            2) Gamexplain said – It’s possible they saw Geodude, the Legend “Pre Evo”, Pikipek evo 1 and Persian. As well as a couple of overworld sprites of people keeping later Pokemon as pets, and might have seen some regular old ones we didn’t know of too.
            3) No Third Legend – Not needed, though I think it’s odd too after all this time, I’d have loved if I was right about it being Earth not Eclipse, though it could exist outside the regional dex.
Those are the 3 common things I see, but if you’ve got some that aren’t easily rebuttled I’d love to hear them.
There is a qoute however from when S/M were announced, that went along the lines of “We’re trying not to do the expected”

          • I had 2 and 3, I’ll cut those out of what I post. 😛 (However, it’s unlikely that GX saw Persian/Pikipek2 in the first two hours).
            1. Ash-Greninja is nowhere to be found in the datamine, meaning it’s stored somewhere else. Before you say “these are pokedex stills, of course it isn’t there”, Mimikyu and Wishwashi’s form changes are in there, so it makes no logical sense to not include Greninja’s form change.
            2. The 6 (counting the two after Mimikyu as one because of form changes) missing models cannot be totems. Firstly, these are pokedex stills, and if totems are just pokemon with an orange aura with no real unique features, they would not have a pokedex still. Secondly, we know of 7 trial captains, and there are only 6 totems here (again counting the two after Mimikyu as one), so even in the highly unlikely event that they are totems, there are STILL missing models here.
            —-
I know it doesn’t seem like much but I had to cut out a few (plus the strange souvenir thing which you’ve already seen.

          • 1) Ash Greninja not been there semi makes sense, it’s not in the regional dex, it’s form change would be with it. However, it’s IN the Demo, so it’s odd that it wasn’t there, unless the Miner just though it wasn’t reasonable to show it, as it would need to be there somewhere, however it’s important to note The Dragon totem WAS in the demo and also didn’t show up.
2)They are almost certainly Totem Models, as proven by the one after Raticate. It lays between Raticate and Spearow, who are right next to each other in the dex (The Zygarde one is for Cell and Core sadly though that would have been awesome). The reason theres only 6 (Counting Raticate and Gumshoos as one, and both Mimikyus as one), is because Wishiwashi doesn’t need to be a totem due to it’s School form. If you add Wishiwashi as a regular boss Pokemon, it makes 7, which corresponds to the known Trial Captains, AND their Types, been Normal, Electric, (Water),Grass, Fire, Ghost and seemingly Dragon.

So I don’t think these are enough evidence for more pokemon. The only true evidence we have, which is also disputed for reasonable reasons, is the Strange Souveneir funnily.

    • I agree they don’t look the same, but who knows how far the designs were developed back then? I feel it may just be an unused Pokémon design, where they decided later to take it in a different direction. I would like it if there’s more to it though.

  17. Alright my bros and brodettes, if we lived in a world where everyone was a Pokémon, what Pokémon would you and your family be? (Don’t have to mention specific family members, just if your parents were two different Pokémon species in this hypothetical scenario. Also, it this world it’s a fifty fifty chance of being the mother of father’s species, not ‘always the mother’ s species’)

    • I would be a Lopunny, My daddy would be a Machamp with a goatee, my Mother would probablly be Froslass because she is an frigid transparent, my brother would be a Vigoroth, my sister would be a Kirlia but a sporty one.

      Reply
        • My parents and I are very different. Thats relatively unfair due to the reality that people are all different. I share nothing in common with either of my parents looks or personality wise, the only thing that we are alike in is our bank accounts. In essence I am just going to then physically alter them to give them personalities. My daddy is a lopunny with the build of a machamp and a goatee, my mother is sporty, my sister is a buneary with her ears in a side ponytail, and my brother is a bulky lopunny with a male figure. Its a deformity which is an occurrence in real life breeding.

          Reply
    • Making the species match one of the parents probably wouldn’t work in most cases, a lot of people are very different from their parents.

      Reply
          • That’s not what I meant at all

I was saying that it’s not possible to have a complete different species/breeds come from the pairing of two other completely different species/breeds

For example, you’re not going to get a chihuahua from a poodle x pomeranian couple

          • It doesn’t fit because I’m describing a completely fantastical scenario and it’s literally the closest thing to it despite being so loose

And it does make sense. If you breed two different Pokémon, it’d only be logical that the offspring is the same Pokémon as one of the parents or at least a counterpart of sorts.

Just as crossbreeding two dogs is only going to give you offspring with traits that come from the parents.

          • If we’re already half throwing logic out the window, can’t we just throw a bit more out so we can say what pokemon would actually fit family members instead of having to settle for second best just to fit the offspring rule?

    • Given how my parents get along I’m going with Seviper and Zangoose. My mom’s Chinese sign is the snake so she can be Seviper. Not sure which one I would be.

  19. @Pharap I have a completely random question for you: I’ve seen you say before that you think there is more new pokemon than what we’ve seen in the leaks, yet everytime I present some evidence you seem to try to debunk it/counter it with something else. If you don’t think what I’m saying is a hint towards the dex being incomplete, then what compels you to think it’s incomplete?
I hope that didn’t get too hard to understand there at the end lol.

    Reply
    • I’m open to both possibilities, but I’m only going to pick a side if the evidence is compelling enough. I will happily refute arguments for either side until something tips the balance.

The main reasons I’m not discounting the possibility are the circumstances under which the leaks ocurred:
      A) The stats and types were reported as being missing.
      B) Stills of the pokedex were posted instead of full models and textures.
      C) What we’ve been given still seems somewhat lacking.
      D) The size of the final game compared to the size of the demo and what sort of information the demo encompasses.

But my faith in GF is thin and I think it’s also still plausible that this is all we’ve got and as I once said before, the detail of the region probably still takes up most of the space of the final game.

      Reply
      • A) Wouldn’t stats/types be in a different area than stills though? Unless you mean why did they scrub those but not the stills?
        B) Don’t get this one.

        Reply
        • Why would nintendo leave Pokedex stills of the Pokemon in and not the whole model with textures?

When you select a Pokedex entry the Pokedex goes into full model view so leaving the textures and models would would break the Pokedex. Leaving them out suggests they actually stripped the Pokedex feature out entirely, which should mean they’d also strip out the Pokedex stills, but for some reason they’re still there.

It just doesn’t fit that they’d strip the models and textures out but leave the stills there, they’d at the very least be aware they’d done that. Not to mention some were intentionally blank for some reason. Seems obscure.

          So it’s either:
          A) they genuinely had to leave them in for another reason
          B) they didn’t think someone would manage to break into the data or
          C) they were left there intentionally

A could support either, B supports the ‘this is all’ theory, C supports the ‘there may be more’ theory

          Reply
          • Ah, I believe I understand now. Thanks for explaining!
That’s a pretty solid observation, and it makes me wonder why they would do that. Did they think we simply wouldn’t notice, or are they messing with us?

          • Anytime.

I think people have noticed, but mostly just the people well acquainted with techy stuff, and few have thought to question it.

If they thought nobody would notice, they were almost right.

Like I said though, there are things that could explain it, but only those with the cracked code in their hands would be capable of confirming those things.

          • Probably because I wrote that in a different order to how everyone else is now going to read it XD

‘they’ in the second bit is Game Freak/the programmers.

The last paragraph is referring to how having the code would make it easier to identifiy if the Pokedex stills were actually needed in the game or if they might have been intentionally or ‘accidentally’ left in.

          • But what confuses me is, in the third line “if they thought nobody would notice” notice what? Sorry, I’m sorta out of it right now.

          • Wes said
“and it makes me wonder why they would do that. Did they think we simply wouldn’t notice, or are they messing with us?”

i.e. Gamefreak thought we wouldn’t notice the missing models/textures if Pokedex stills were available

          • I’m having fun feebly trying to poke holes in this, even though nothing I say will actually confirm anything lol.

          • Most of the stuff you’ve shown has another equally possible explanation or is somehow refutable, which means it’s still anyone’s game.

          • Good, but not completely irrefutable.
Maybe just make one big list/article and keep adding to it or something 😛

  20. I actually measured the time it took to use the gates west of the maladada shop versus taking the main road around. Conclusion: when riding Tauros, it is approx. 1 second faster to simply go all the way around, but when you’re running, it’s approx. 1.5 seconds faster to use the gates.

    Reply
      • I’d wondered because the gates seemed take longer, and if the gates weren’t a shortcut, then what was their purpose other than aesthetics? Timing it was just my way of partially answering my own questions.
I hope that we can ride Rapidash and that it will be used primarily for egg hatching with it being constantly aflame and all.

        Reply
  21. So what Pokemon do you want to ride/think we’ll be able to ride, and what will be their functions? I’ve theorized a bit on the land-based Pokemon and come up with,
(Confirmed) Mudsdale – traversing rough terrain
Tauros – Acro Bike equivalent, faster than running, but still pretty slow
Zebstrika – Mach Bike equivalent, faster, yet harder to control
Rapidash – relatively fast, primarily used for hatching eggs more quickly due to the warmth

        • I don’t necissarily mean bringing back Shadow Pokemon, but certainly a sort of side story game with all the same mechanics but catching. Colusseum and XD always felt more story driven to me, even more than later games. Or at least more immersive.

What I liked most was Team Cipher because their admins all had very unique clothing, teams and personalities. They felt like real people/trainers instead of the usual tactic of wearing a variation of a team uniform and a variation of the villanous team’s signature pokemon.

Plus it was interesting in Colusseum how the main character was a former member of a villanous gang, and in XD how you started with an Evevee and picked what it evolved into – effectively having 5 possible starters instead of just 3.

      • I’m hyped. the Nintendo switch looks great. in my honest opinion, the best thing about it is how Unextraordinary it is. 3rd party developers wont have to develop with the consoles gimmick in mind, the console will do the “take wherever” aspect on its own.

        • honestly that sounds like a shot on the system as well as a praise 😛 but yes you’re correct, I’m pumped for skyrim, I was going to get it for my PS4 but now I’m waiting

          Reply
          • same. people are throwing a fit because bethesda said “we cant confirm anything at this time” but its not anything to worry about, however, the bad pr its making still isn’t good for the switch. I wish people would calm the f*ck down and wait for more details instead of raging.

          • wait why would that matter? We saw it straight up on the system so its probably a launch title, they are probably just keeping things hush because they don’t want to impact the sales of the ones coming out on the PS4 and Xbox one soon. But people are dumb so they probably don’t get that

          • Yeah well I mean, if they confirmed anything then the other companies would probs see this as a way of deflecting sales from them too and be pissed so bethesda is basically walking a thin line with the companies. But like Switch hype!!! lol

  22. So I just got Volcanion, and I’m kinda confused. I thought there would be a special event in Juane plaza in Lumiose, where there are two people taking about a “lava dome Pokemon” and “mimicking Pokemon cries”. It seemed odd so I thought if I brought Volcanion something would happen, but nothing did. Do I need to do something to trigger the event?

      • I miss the days where rather than a delivery lady handing you A POKEMON WHOSE POWER IS SPOKEN OF IN LEGEND, they gave you an item to initiate a quest, those were fun. Hopefully they do those in SM.

        Reply
          • The lady in the press has been looking for Volcanion for 15 years, and the delivery lady just handed it to some 10 year old kid.

          • Yup. Should have at least had something like:

            – Delivery lady hands package from a professor
            – Package contains special artefact
            – Lady in press office tells you of a location said to be linked to the artefact
            – Take artefact to location
            – Summon Volcanion
            – Battle it
            – Capture it

          • Malva being cruel to a legendary would be a bit awkward. I always took her to be a sleeping partner (if you’ll pardon the pun).

          • Well she doesn’t necessarily have to play a cruel role. Maybe she could tell you what team Flare is planning so that you’ll rescue it. I can’t exactly remember how involved she was with them.

          • I’m not sure, I can’t actually find a quote that proves it other than her mentioning the player destroyed Team Flare.

        • D/P/Pt did event pokemon the best. So basically Gen 4 is the pinnacle of pokemon in most ways. Gen 5 did this well too for the most part.

          • Only one of those I actually got to visit the place for was Darkrai I think.

Either there wasn’t a Shaymin event near me or I missed one, or it was Platinum only or something.

            Azure flute was never released.

          • Yeah, but Ranger had a quest for it before you could transfer.

I’ve still got the chocolate Pokeball that came with the download code in its original box!

  23. My goodness this episode was so so good! although I enjoy the others I honestly think this was the best episode by far. I loved it definitely my favorite episode too bad it went by way too fast didn’t even notice the time until I saw Kyogre’s sharp dental work in the end xD

  24. Ok so I’ve been thinking now that all the data mining info has settled. We’ve now been shown that the starters only have 1 form for their evolutions and it’s unlikely that’ll change. So now we’re stuck with the question of what their “secret” is again? If it’s not actually shared with Rockruff then what it said secret? Data mining doesn’t seem to have shed any info on it.

    Reply
    • Maybe it’s a storyline secret? Like they share a secret that is behind the story?
For example, Lockstin thinks their secret is the Type: Null is made from the starters and Rockruff.
It could be that or something else, I was more or less trying to provide an example.

      Reply
      • That’s possible. Otherwise I can see anything else being thrown at us. Sure the demo data mine likely ins’t entirely the complete picture of what’s to come, but I’d be willing to bet we’d have see whatever it is that is special about them in the info mined out. That said the hackers can’t seem to find Ash Greninja so that could mean that there’s a super secret folder somewhere in there that has some extra stuff. I suppose we won’t fully know until it’s revealed tho lol

        Reply
    • I’m guessing it’s either going to be something story related, something mundane, or personalised Z moves (i.e. being the only Alola Pokemon with personalised Z moves, so far the only ones we know are from Kanto)

  25. Hey all, just noticed something in the S/M demo, not sure if this particular concept has been noted yet. So if you head to the Pokémon Centre and speak to Kukui, he’s supposed to help you transfer Greninja and the items you receive in the demo to the full game once it’s available. Obviously this isn’t possible yet since the game isn’t out yet, but if you select the prompt to transfer Greninja, an interesting detail is revealed. Kukui will verify that you would like to transfer Greninja to the full version, then a Warning dialog follows, which says “Warning! This Pokémon will not listen to what you tell it until you have completed two grand trials in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon.”

Have I just been sleeping on the concept of “grand trials”? Or is this the name of a more overarching concept regarding the trials that hasn’t been revealed or detailed officially yet? It seems to serve the same effect as needing a certain number of gym badges in order to be able to command traded Pokémon of particular levels. Discuss!

        • I think maybe some of the vents like Lillie are based on actual days and what not while the others are based on the number of days after you play. For whatever reason that’s giving you problems it might just be best to start fresh. Think about it this way. You get to play that sweet Totem trial again lol

          Reply
          • Yeah I think you’ll be fine. I wanna say from the release of the demo the last event happens just under a week away from the release of the actual games. So you have a few days for the margin of error to still make the deadline lol

  26. i’d really like it if they gave all the starters an exclusive z move. not all of tem their own, but one of each type, that only works for starters.

  27. I actually really liked this Generations episode, it showed us a realistic view point of Primal Kyogre. I thought that it wouldn’t make any sense for Kyogre to drown the world, yet after seeing this is looked very possible, changing wind currents, creating hurricanes, etc.I thought that was a really good job with the animators.

Switch is confirmed to not be backwards compatible.

So…does that mean that the Switch is not supposed to be considered the successor to the 3DS; that Nintendo will bring out a separate new handheld to replace it a few years down the line?

    Reply
    • I am not sure it has been confirmed the switch is not backwards compatible, but it is the most likely scenario that everybody believes

      Reply
        • We already know it accepts cartridges of some kind, but so far there is nothing to indicate that both screens (TV and portable) can be used in conjunction with each other.

          Reply
          • No to what?
We know it definately takes cartridges, someone was shown inserting a cartridge during the trailer.
The main console is the bit attached to the screen, but that plugs into a TV, and as I said, so far all the games shown only used one screen.

          • I knew about the backwards compat, not about the dual screen thing though.
I wasn’t expecting them to do either, I was just pointing out what we had evidence of.

    • Nintendo confirmed 3 things

      It’s not backwards compatible
It’s a home console first and foremost
Double screen gaming like the wiiu is not possible.

          • I know Cam and I’m from the country right above Pharap’s (and they’re also technically the same country but Ayyyyyyyyy it’s more like America and its States)

          • It’s funny how we all consider England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland as countries but the rest of the world views them differently 😛

Not sure I’m happy with the comparison to America’s states though, it’s much deeper than that. A couple thousand years deeper 😛

          • Yeah. What really bothers me is when people think England and Britain are the same thing aside from being unfair on the other three (i.e. the typical “you’re not British though, you’re from Scotland” comment) it also party undermines/waters down England’s specific culture and means the cross of St George gets less recognition. So it’s a lose-lose situation 😛

          • Yeah Scottish people get really offended by it but it has a negative impact on all four countries. I’d say Wales gets it worst though since it’s the least famous of the four tho and thus people don’t understand its culture or that it even has culture as well as Scotland, Ireland and England

Also whenever someone says someone has a ‘British’ Accent

            https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c11816a3ad0f0d9263492f98f3c3ad5fd878ed9adb32a54b2133f2be5d1e25dd.gif

          • Yeah. At least they have Tom Jones I guess? 😛

Ireland gets the best end of the deal since most Americans of Irish descent remember that fact and make a big deal of it. Though I do get the impression they have a fairly stereotypical view of what Ireland is like. *avoids mentioning the troubles*

            Ah, the accent thing…
“Oh so you’re from Britain? Does that mean you have one of those cute little British accents?”
“I have a British accent, but certainly not the one you’re thinking of.”
            XD

          • There’s a decent amount of Scottish Americans but they just seem to care about the fact they can claim some sort of descent from somewhere that isn’t America :p

Yeah and the thing is when you explain the fact that Britain doesn’t have a universal accent they then jump to the idea of Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales having universal accents

          • A lot of Americans have English blood too, but they don’t tend to care much about that. Irish always seems to get pride of place 😛

I just throw dramatic accents at them as much as possible (my favourites to send are geordie, scouse, brumy, cockney, west country and bristolian).

(I must admit, I’m not as good with telling Scots accents apart since most of my relatives are from the same sort of area in and around Glasgow and I only see one of them regularly anyway.)

          • “Films, television cartoons and advertising have popularised a specific
image of leprechauns which bears scant resemblance to anything found in
the cycles of Irish folklore. Irish people can find the popularised
image of a leprechaun to be little more than a series of stereotypes of the Irish”

Leprecauns also originally wore red, not green.

            Dreams shattered yet? 😛

          • I’ve read a lot of lore from various cultures. Leprechauns have drastically changed over the years just like most folklore/fairy tale creatures. You must have dreams for them to be shattered. Haha!

          • Dreams, novelty merchandise, same difference.

Besides, every region has its own variant. The leprecaun of the Irish is just the brownie of the Scottish and English and the bucca of the Welsh and Cornish.

          • The lines are blurred, but originally gnomes were supposed to dwell underground and brownies/Heinzelmännchen are house dwelling variants 😛

Things get really messy and blurred though. I blame the brothers Grimm and their anthropomorphic sausages.

          • I know! My grandma was born in Germany so she used to tell me all the stories she grew up with. I like the muddy/clay versions of gnomes before they hit the anthropomorphic/humanistic qualities. (I just like diminutive creatures. They’re usually very dark and ominous creatures.)

          • Yeah, luckily the mud thing still gets through some times, gnomes are often given earth element powers in games (e.g. Magical Starsign).

I’m suddenly wanting to (re)play the Minish Cap… And am also reminded of Lilliput – Jon Swift was Irish after all 😛

As an aside, I have a copy of a version of the Grimm’s fairytales somewhere. I wasn’t joking about the anthropomorphic sausages, at least three of the stories have a walking, talking sausage as a main character XD

          • Whenever I see a gnome with Earth abilities I squeal with excitement, because it’s a homage to their origin! (i.e.Gnomes from Tales of
            Symphonia)

I’ll have to reread my Grimm collection. I mean walking sausages do sound like a thing those two would come up with or steal(Lesbihonest lol).

I never got to play Minish Cap, but it’s on my buy list for the Wii U eshop. Lol

          • Tales of Symphonia is one of those games I always wanted but never managed to get hold of.
There was another game that did it that I was thinking of but I can’t remember what it was called. I’m currently digging around spriter’s resource to see if I can find something that will jog my memory 😛

I distinctly remember a story where a sentient sausage cuts bits off itself to make dinner for its two friends. Weird stuff 😛

It’s easy enough to run on an emulator (depending on how much the eshop version would be).
Minish cap was my first Zelda game.
One of the people I knew said it was underwhelming, but personally I prefer it to the original and some of the ‘classics’ like Links Awakening and the original Legend of Zelda. It’s got story, it’s got direction and its got a good set of tools to hand.

          • Well, a British accent is from Britain, no need for the rest of the world to know what Welsh/Scottish accents sound like

          • It is kinda insensitive though, it’s denying a country of its culture

And just saying ‘a British accent’ is dumb because there’s no country in the first place that just has one accent

          • Technically ‘a British accent’ should be an indefinite article but often it is used as if it were a definite article.

Either way, the point stands about it being quite insensitive. It would be the equivalent of us thinking a californian accent was from the deep south and not caring if we’d got it wrong.

          • Then following your logic you want people to be able to precisely say where the hell the accent comes from? By saying “British accent” it’s implying the accent comes from there, not that everyone speaks like that. I swear some people like you like to complicate and see problems in everything

          • It’s not that, it’s the way a lot of people assume that there’s only one British accent and it’s the kind that appears in Hollywood films that less than 1% of the population of Britain actually has.

There’s loads of people who have never even heard of geordie, cockney, scouse etc

          • Funny, you’re the one complicating things.

I don’t care if someone doesn’t know where my accent comes from, and I’m not asking that lol, becuase why would a random American know what a North-Eastern Scot sounds like? I’m just saying I wish people would be a bit more respectful towards other cultures and if they get something wrong, and not just over generalise cultures.

But of course, respect is haaaaaaaard when all it would require is to make the mistake and then get corrected.

          • Hey Britain has exotic things too

like my city has a strip club, an adult shop, and what I can assume is a brothel in disguise right in the open in a major street

          • Exotic – “Foreign, especially in an exciting way.”

I dare say Britain is capable of being exciting. We have stonehenge, loch ness, glastonbury festival and many many nice castles.

Failing that you can always wander into town on the night Millwall loose a football match and try to get away unscathed.

          • Trying to escape any British city after any relevant football team loses is hell

Thank God I live in what’s basically the suburbs because if I lived in the city centre or near the stadium I’d probably throw myself off the cliffs XD

          • We have a stadium, but it’s pretty small and I don’t think we’ve ever hosted anything interesting.

Same, the centre of town is a 15-25 minute drive away (depending on traffic :P). I’ve only ever been in town past midnight twice, and those two were more than enough XD

          • Surprisingly enough despite being one of the most noteworthy cities in Scotland (and you’d probably know what it is it you’re in the UK but it’s not particularly impactful), I’ve been in the city a good amount of times after midnight and I’ve been fine.

          • Nothing bad happened it was just not that nice, and I’m not that trusting of people here anyway, we’ve had a few notable murders and cases of missing persons. In contrast my town is small and not very noteworthy.

  29. Ok so I have an issue with Alola already… 😛 not really a serious one, but there is a food chain in the demo that has Slurpuff as its mascot and in one of the trailers with Mimikyu there is an abandoned store with a swirlix as its mascot and yet according to the leaks neither of them can be found in Alola, doesn’t that just seem a little weird considering these pokemon are seemingly popular enough to warrant entire food chains after their design???

Just a thought I have been having
