Why is Volkner liked? I thought he was known as a character who sulks? Can someone explain the appeal of Volkner?
Personally, if I could decide I would have easily have Elesa as the winner, as a bit of a sidenote
1) Cool and simple design
2) cool city with cool theme
3) mains the beautiful beast known as Luxray
4) electric type
5) has a bit of story
6) Flint dynamic
I can get behind those first 4 points quite easily… Must be I don’t remember his story or his dynamic with Flint
Well his story is that he’s depressed and kind of lost interest in battling. And then Flint, his good buddy, stops you and asks you if you can help reignite his spark for battling! So then you get him to return to the gym and stuff and remind him why he likes being a gym leader
Oh that’s quite awesome actually, I only seem to remember him being depressed…. I never disliked him, but I just never understood why he would be considered a favourite.. That clears everything up, cheers!

His story with Flint was good. It shows how a long term friend will always be there for you. Flint sees his friend going through a rough patch, and so sets off to reignite his passion.
Volkner was shown as an incredibly smart and talented person who designed a lot of Sunnyshore city, with an emphasis on harnessing electrical energy (Sunnyshore Tower which is anime exclusive)
Well i’m watching MandJTV’s Nuzlocke of Pokemon Platinum so I shall probably end up seeing this again for myself soon
I think the anime does more justice to him that the games. The anime allowed them to expand his story quite a bit.

Thinking Volkner only sulks is akin to me thinking Elesa is an air head.

Well that’s what I remember from him in my experiences of Diamond and Platinum, maybe there was something I missed
Well it has been quite a few years since those games were played. Also his anime appearance has a role in his appeal.
I actually played Platinum after I played ORAS, weirdly enough
What happened in his appearance in the anime?
It basically expanded on his Game story.
Volkner had completely lost interested in challengers for his Gym Badge, that he just started handing them out for free. Flint seeing this tried his best to get through to his friend, realising the only way to do this was to have a battle against a string trainer (Ash) to reignite his passion.
Volkner was shown to have built Sunnyshore tower which controlled all the electrical transport in the city. After Team Rocket attacked them during his battle with Ash, he realised the power was out due to his tower being damaged. He set to repair that immediately, posting his battle with Ash until he ensured his tower was repaired and electricity was flowing properly again.
A lot of his backstory with Flint was shown in flashbacks as well
I think I kind of remember that episode, wasn’t Torterra quite prominent in the epiosde about Sunyshore Tower?
Yeh, I think it was the episode where Grotle evolves into Torterra.

(it doesn’t really matter and I’m not mad or anything I’m more kinda… surprised, because the ones that won are really boring to me.) i’d probably vote wulfric out of the ones you listed.
I don’t get it either, only Clair for Gen 2 made sense to me, Wallace a bit too, but I didn’t get Sabrina, Volkner and Valerie.

Yeh, personally I don’t understand Elesa, Valerie and Clair. Sabrina to an extent is fine, and Wallace is understandable.

I’m 30 episodes away from Hoenn! I didn’t think I’d make it this far into the series, honestly.
I’m still halfway(?) through the first season. I’m watching it very passively.
I started back in June, and I’m watching them on double speed since there are just so many. My hope is to make it to Unova by the time Sun and Moon come out.
I might have to consider watching the anime again. I stopped watching after Sinnoh League Victors, just because things started getting stale and uninteresting. I’d like to at least get through Kalos before SM, just have to find that passion for watching again.
If you watch them on a faster speed like I’m doing it helps to get through the stale episodes, and you can play the better ones regularly if that’s your cup of tea. 😉

I’ve tried to go on it before to see what it was, it doesn’t load on my computer, but heres the Tea Earthen, I’m not denying that people use legends, of course they do, it happens all the time and while I never see the ones you’re talking about I see tons of others, and guess what, I beat them easier than the normal pokemon that people usually have on their teams, so like, why do you hate them so much? they are not a big deal if you know what you’re doing, the only ones I will agree with you for being op are primals and ray, because of the weather effects, but like, landourus? latios? keldeo? not really all that powerful

Alright what do you pray tell used in the past
heres all the pokemon I have that I frequently use:
Clafable, sylveon, azumarill, granbull, M Audino, M Mawile, M Altaria, slurpuff, florges, whimsicott, aromatisse, jellicent and Goodra. I mean I also have a sun team but like I only used it like twice. And while using teams comprised of the pokemon I listed above I have only been beaten by a legend once, and that was Heatran, but I have also beaten it once too.
Mehhhhh those things beat legends because half of them are dragons and fighting types
And things like Landorus are easy Azumarill bait so I am not impressed

no I don’t think so, I’m pretty sure its something like MK where you can give them a code or make them open or private, at least thats what I got from it, they never said it would only be local or just for friends
I wonder if you’ll be able to have presets for tournaments though. I also wonder how that’ll affect the time it takes to find a partner
hmm, maybe, we still know very little about it all, they only really mentioned it once, I expect they will talk more about it in October or November maybe
I’m really looking forward to all of these new features. Hopefully they stick around though since they’re notorious for not bringing back some of the best ones once they introduce them ;-;

I saw someone mention tournaments below, so I want to say two things on that topic:
1. Did PJT ’16 already happen?
2. We should do tournaments and Battle Royales every Friday or Saturday for a few weeks after SM release. We should have a weekly battle article where we set up battles.
3. I thought of this just now, we should have a tournament two or so weeks after SM release where we only use the team that we logged in the hall of fame with the first time; essentially or in game teams.
I believe we didn’t get enough participants for PJT ’16, so it was ultimately postponed. Moving was doing most of the work in terms of that, but if that’s something the community is interested in taking part in, we would be more than happy to start our search for people 🙂
If that doesn’t work out, I will definitely pitch your other ideas to the rest of the staff.

Does anyone else have like an unhealthy obsession with getting the pokemon on their teams in the absolute perfect pokeball for them? I actually went back and caught a clefariy in a moon ball and a granbull in a love ball and transferred them up to ORAS just to breed them in that ball for my team.
Eh, it’s too tedious for me. I just try to catch most everything in a pokeball
catching something in a normal pokeball is like my worst nightmare, my OCD would go crazy lol
I try to catch legendaries in them at the very least. It makes me feel like a real master

1.Premier ball
2. Heal Ball
3.Luxury ball
i think they all kinda work well with both its colour scheme and its legendary status, but I do think the premier ball would really compliment it the most.
Those were my choices as well. Unfortunately none of my pokemon can learn false swipe so I’m afraid to attack it. Side note: how can zoroark not learn false swipe?!
No actually. What I do care about to an unhealthy extent is having the perfect nicknames for competitive Pokemon. I feel like this is because I feel like many of the nicknames I see on Pokemon used by youtubers are atrocious.

I mostly care about trying to catch and receive pokemon in standard pokeballs unless there shiny in which case I try to catch them in a premier ball.
