RUMOR: Pokémon Sun & Moon Include 103 New Pokémon

alola-dex-rumorRUMOR ALERT: The information contained in this post is based on speculation, not fact. Please treat it as such and do not interpret it is confirmed news.

A user on an anonymous image board has posted what purports to be the full Alolan Pokédex, excluding new “Alolan forms” of previously released Pokémon. If it is correct, there are 103 new Pokémon in the Alola region which would be 30 more new Pokémon than X & Y and roughly the same amount as Gold & Silver. There are, however, many evolution families listed which appear to have different forms for the same Pokémon.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Screw. The. Leakers. I will not be covering the names or any other information about this “leak” because there is too much risk considering the advanced information that has already made its way to the public from the Chinese rumors. We’re still too far away from the release of these games to ruin everything for fans. There’s a difference between enjoying speculation and rumors (which we do) and spoiling everything online (which they do). There is a line of what I think is fun pre-release hype and what is stupidly early to reveal, and I think this is one of those things that crosses that for me. Hope you guys understand and perhaps even agree. If we hadn’t gotten such credible leaks this year I’d have no qualms about posting it for dissection.

  1. I’m pretty sure the best form of Darline/Darwisker (aka the breed cats) will be the Normal/Ghost form, as it has only one weakness (dark) and it has a plethora of immunities (normal ghost fighting) and resistances (bug poison)

  2. I don’t believe there may ever be a Pokémon called `Delfin`, which is the exact spanish translation for Dolphin.

It would sound very weird (and simple) when playing the game in spanish.

So, I am starting to have my doubts about these leaks.

  3. Another rumor said they evolve into different forms depending on the island it’s on. There is one way I could see the island based evolution working. If the game is limited free roam. By that I mean when you’re finished with Melemele you can choose whatever island you can go to next and the level cap will rise as you progress. That way each experience and playthrough can be different.

  4. As long as it’s more than X/Y, I’m cool. Was playing OR and was reminded how little Gen 6 pokemon there were thank to the design of the OR/AS National Dex.

  5. yep I’ve definitely figured it out, best typing that that breed cat can get is normal/ghost followed by normal/steel then normal/poison. This pokemon will have some really good defensive typings available to it.

    • Ugly is subjective.

You don’t need to use the starters anyway, dump them in the PC as soon as you can if you don’t like them

        • Not like it saves you from looking at them. Cause you have to see Hau use them. Then you’re going to see them a lot online. Putting them in the box doesn’t save you.

          • Well, so I don’t have any options… alright then. But that won’t change that fact that for me they are the ugliests starters I’ve ever seen.

  6. The starters and rock ruff do have a secret that no one has yet to mention? Is it different evolution from the islands?

  7. Unrelated to Sun and Moon, but I am terrible at competitive battling and am trying to have a team going that could beat my friends but arent anything special. Theyll be ev trained but not iv trained and no attention to nature because Im not that into competitive play. Would anyone be willing to look over my movesets over email and let me know what you think?

  8. Okay. Remember Rockruff has something to do with the starters? What if its second type reflects the starter you pick (or your rival picks)? So it can have three different Rockruff typings. Like, if you picked Litten and Litten’s final evolution is Fire/Dark, Rockruff turns Rock/Dark… It’d be weird though if Rockruff turned Rock/Flying… A flying werewolf??? What do you think?

    • Well this also isn’t including the alolan forms or even megas, not to mention past gen pokes. But I agree, I would’ve liked 150 or so.

  9. Hey I have a question, I’m doing a X walkthrough with the following Pokemon:
    Talonflame
    Raichu
    Gogoat
    Flygon
    Haxorus

I’m torn between choosing either Blastoise or Greninja, which one do you think would be better for my team? Or is there another water Pokemon I should get?

    Reply
    • Greninja can add another physical pokemon to your team. Id go with him. Although a trick room would wreck a few of yours.

          • If its not a weather or trick room team Im building, I tend to do three physical, three special, with varying speeds/ bulkiness, while also hoping swap one of those out with a set up of some kind, usually a froslass.

          • Yeah thats similar to what I do in walkthroughs, I try to get an equal amount of physical and special attackers, while also adding in some bulk in there.

  10. My Team is ready.

    Robinroot: Grass/Flying
    Beltigre: Fire/Dark
    Sirene: Water/Fairy
    Garchomp: Dragon/Ground
    Galvantula: Bug/Electric
    Arceus: Normal

11 Types in total, and would have 12 if I had to replace Arceus.

    • You’re using Arceus on a playthrough? Also, how are you going to get all 3 starters? Are you using pokebank? That would be assuming that it’s updated for SM on the release date. And why use Galvantula when you could use Vikavolt?

      Reply
      • Galvantula is cute. Though the team maybe changed as soon as I see the reveal of the other Pokemon. Yes I do have Pokebank, and I’m going to use it in order to store the starters whenever I start a new game.

I’ll start by getting Litten, then store it on Pokebank, start new game, get Popplio, store that on Pokebank, start real proper game with Rowlet, and then get Litten and Popplio from Pokebank.

        Reply
        • That sounds stressful and time consuming lol. I’ll use all 3 starters on a later playthrough when I can just breed them and make it easier

  11. This is most likely for the sole reason that #772 the dolphin pokemon’s name is simply dolphin in spanish which is delfin so yeah i doubt gamefreak would use the name of a real animal to name a pokemon

    Reply
    • Eh, we’ve been over this. Seel, Tirtouga…both very close to the actual spellings. Pretty much the equivalent of removing an accent.

      Reply
          • No, i speak spanish as my first language and delfín and delfin are pretty much said the same way and in the spanish games would be very weird to have a dolphin pokemon named the same way as the animal

          • Well tirtouga and tortuga are essentially pronounced the same way too though..I imagine, as a spanish speaker, that when you see that name you think “turtle.” This is no different. I don’t think that’s honestly a credible way to determine these as fakes.

          • That’s not how I would pronounce them, given how I was taught spanish.
            Tortuga = Tour-two-guh
Tirtouga = Teer-two-guh or perhaps Teer-teh-oo-guh, but pretty similar

There are a bunch of variations of spanish so I imagine that might be why the “Tir” has an H-sound and the “tou” is like “toe” to you

          • Where did you learn spanish? Tortuga doesnt have a tour sound in it haha but too and two have the same pronounciation so ill give you that one

          • T-O-R using the spanish alphabet to me would be like saying the english word “tour.” I don’t understand where you get the H-sound when you say it. I took three years in high school and an entire year in college five days a week, which was the equivalent of basically 2 years of spanish. My teacher was from Columbia.

          • Oh there is no H sound i just Thor because that is the closest english thing to the pronounciation of tor in spanish, its is like saying torn but without the n at the end also Colombia is an awesome country been there, they have the best coffee ive ever drinked

          • Oh, okay. I was confused but I understand now. It’s kind of hard to type out “english translations” when you are still using a spanish accent while reading them (if that makes sense). Well, it’s an accent for me, not an accent for you 😛

          • Haha yeah i can see where the confusion came from since im not really that good at explaining things lol

    • Well it would be rather uninspired and weird to Spanish speakers such as ourselves but it wouldn’t be the least creative name they ever did. I don’t know that this necessarily makes it more likely to be fake…

      Reply
    • Oh, I thought of something else sort of similar. If the name for Litten’s evolution is real (Beltigre) isn’t that just like Bel-tiger in Spanish? There’s just a prefix strapped on there. Although I get it would be read a little differently, but I’ll always see the word tigre in there and use an accent when saying the name lol
